Jaclotoid

CLASS: WORMBRAIN

Jaclotoid is a singular monster with many bodies across the globe

BIOLOGY:

Jaclotoid biology has long been a subject of study. complex genetic analysis shows a long history of genetic tampering, more so than almost any other recorded monster, making classification difficult (even for a time being considered a Boo man and at one point an Unknown class monster) however recent molecular testing showed a similarity to vermedulla in general structure.

Jaclotoid is essentially a long, constantly growing Chain of Bodies that may break off into individually acting units capable of rejoining the chain at any given time. However, unlike almost all wormbrains, Jaclotoid is more of a large, complex and highly specialized fluke rather than a mindless host under the control of the collective of brain fluke parasites. Jaclotoid Bodies maintain a singular consciousness in a similar manner to the Boo men or the dementipede, and it is often noted that there is only One Jaclotoid in existence, as distance seems irrelevant for the mental connection of the individual units, this unknown method of connection even resisting radioactive, psychic and quantum shielding.

Jaclotoid in general forgoes the typical Modus operandi of infection and enslavement that the wormbrain class in general is known for, but is capable of tapping into the mind of prey by interfacing with a host neural system while they feed on harmless amounts of blood and fluids. 

each individual Jaclotoid body is capable of retracting its head and limbs into its rubbery shell for protection. 

BEHAVIOR: 

Jaclotoid is a friendly creature, seldom having to hunt and often attempting to interact with whatever being catches their interest around them, often times it  spreads its bodies about its territory to search for interesting animals or items to look over, sometimes collecting them in piles that they will show to anyone they can manage to hold a conversation with. when faced with themselves in battle Jaclotoid are reluctant to cause themselves harm to the point that they will refuse to attack their own bodies, and if forced to do so, may join with the enemy chain and units and wait out the rest of the battle in protest.

Jaclotoid are capable of survive of ingestion, given that enough of the unit’s body has also survived to regenerate in a larger monster’s digestive track, they can survive off of predigested foods via osmosis, however they find this uncomfortable and tend to make attempts to escape back from whence they came, often times in larger numbers than before.

Jaclotoid often show an artistic side, making drawings frequently, but is often embarrassed about showing them.

APPLICATION:

It goes without saying that a large monster capable of splitting apart and reforming on a whim can be a dangerous behemoth in battle, but with the addition of instantaneous connection between units allows this huge monster to disconnect into many smaller spy units to scope out an area, relaying information to a master in real time. 

TACTICAL MECHANISMS: 

COLLECTIVE MIND: Jaclotoid’s collective mind and multiple bodies allows it immunity to mind-altering substances and psychowave attacks.

DRILLING TENTACLES: while usually content to feed in harmless amounts, if commanded they can desiccate an organism with extreme speed. even more so if split into individual units.

UNITS: the monster is capable of splitting apart into individual units and acting on their own and able to reconnect at will, capable of sending and receiving information to every unit simultaneously through an unknown method.

SUCKER FEET: every Jaclotoid unit possesses adhesive suction cups for feet, giving them extra traction and the ability to scale sheer surfaces.

IMPORTANT question: do you think you could domesticate a mimic

Yes! Though it’s a little weird to want to domesticate a sapient being. Mimics are not only intelligent, but are often capable of communicating in Undercommon and/or Aklo!

Most of the time, Mimics aren’t truly Evil, just malicious, fae-like pranksters, and can be convinced to back off on their attack or bribed into going away... provided they aren’t hungry.
