So, a lot of people pointed out the apparent inconsistency with Megamind’s Disguise Watch in the climax. Usually, the Disguise Watch can change everything about how a person looks, save for their eye-color. But when Minion is disguised as Megamind in the climax, his eyes are the same bright green as Megamind always is.
But I actually don’t think it’s inconsistent at all! if you pay attention the first time we see the Disguise Watch, during Megamind’s Jailbreak:
It’’s very blink-and-you’ll-miss-it but the Warden’s eyes also turn green when he’s disguised as Megamind. They didn’t necessarily broke their rules just to preserve a twist in the climax, that’s how the Megamind diguised worked since the start!
And honestly, I can see the logic as to why the Megamind disguise will be of considerably higher quality than the other ones, cause:
The Disguise Watch was originally created for the exact purpose of Making Someone Look Like Megamind, so it makes sense that it would be it’s most high-quality disguise.
Every other disguise seen in the movie was scanned on-the-fly and unwillingly.
I mean, we can only presume with the Metro Man disguise. But I’m guessing that he either scanned him in secret long before the events of the movie to use in some evil scheme that never came to be - or he used old Metro Man footage. And I’m guessing that either way wouldn’t give you the highest quality illusion. Maybe Megamind scanned himself for a longer time or used some sort of seperate and more sophisticated scanner that helps to get around the eye problem.
Really, if anything bugs me about the switcheroo in the climax it’s not the eyes. It’s this exchange:
Cause like... I can buy that Megamind ‘wrote’ the ‘PRESENTATION’ speech and Minion-as-Megamind was acting it out, but this spesific exchange was not something they could have planned for and it has very Different Vibes if it’s coming from Megamind or from Minion!
