i painted this powder blue truck tonight. i like to think that after jack defeats chuck, saves cas from the empty, and heals the hole in dean’s back, he turns himself into a toddler !!! with chuck out of the picture, it’s safe for him to grow up as a regular kid, so dean and cas move into a house an hour or two outside lebanon—close enough to the bunker that they can still see sam and eileen semi-regularly, but far enough away for them to start their own lives
cas would never tell dean to get rid of the impala but they DO need a slightly more kid-friendly ride so they take a trip to the local used car lot where cas falls in love with this ugly little blue pickup. there’s a million things wrong with it but luckily for cas his boyfriend is a pretty good mechanic....
they spend their first few weeks in the new house outside, where dean gets the truck into working order, jack runs around playing with miracle, and cas alternates between tending to his vegetable garden and watching his two favorite boys work and play in peace
every saturday morning, they load up the bed of the truck with crates of vegetables from cas’ garden and a few dozen jars of honey harvested from his bees, drive into town, and set up their stand at the local farmer’s market. dean deals with the money, cas wraps the purchases, and jack sits on the table with a coloring book and shows every person who comes up to buy something his collection of silly bandz
on summer evenings, when the sun has set and jack has been tucked into bed, dean and cas carry their pillows and blankets outside and set them up in the bed of the truck. they slip one of dean’s tapes into the deck, roll the windows down, and turn the volume up. sometimes they stargaze. sometimes they make out. sometimes jack wakes up, finds them outside, and crawls in between them—tucked under dean’s arm, his little feet flung across cas’ stomach, babbling about stars and aliens and space pirates until they all three drift off to sleep
