Honestly I think even the idea of not even finding Yang but RWB resolving to jump in after Yang would've been a lot better if we wanted a cliffhanger because that leaves off on team RWBY uniting
yeahhhhhh....i would’ve rather that they would’ve at least not just...fallen in by circumstance like they did. in retrospect, it undercuts Yang’s sacrifice emotionally and just. halts that entire emotional arc of Yang being sought after
also is this rwde hour because like while i don't mind hazel, watts, or salem (tyrian is dumb and boring) i agree with you how it really feels like these new villains feel like they completely overshadow Cinders little trio which is pretty annoying considering i actually do like Cinder, Em and Merc and I really feel like they are just like wasting away doing barely anything while the new guys get to do everything
i try VERY HARD to not b rwde here more than i HAVE TO as faunusrights is meant to be a celebration of what i like abt rwby and not,,, the things that bug me (you can tell that this has gone terribly wrong on account of i no longer post any canonical rwby shit lmao) BUT YEAH ABSOLUTELY… cinder em and merc had So Much potential esp in the earlier seasons to be a group who kinda uses other ppl to their own ends and they had a great dynamic even from what little we saw (owing and being owed, pining and dismissing) and we could have had a cool arc with just this trio but rt did as rt does and made a Billion new side-characters because good writing means making the cast 3x as big, right? right???
i mean if you think about it we see government corruption as early as Zoro is introduced and we get more of that to back it up during Arlong Park arc with a marine officer taking bribes from Arlong so it is very clear from the beginning that corruption exists and is actually a much larger problem than 2 guys in the east blue
tbh, it took until Louguetown before we saw some actually good Marines (Smoker & Tashigi)
until that point, all the Marines were corrupt (Nezumi), being controlled by someone corrupt (Morgan), or died (RIP Purrin Purrin who died trying to help Nami’s town)
“wowerror replied to your post “<p>Where do you think the show itself...”
like I sort of feel they may have done this so they could keep Oscar around because it sort of feels like Oscar is going to become a source of wisdom I don't know why I just get that vibe
Also I think a very missed oppurtunity was doing the whole Ozma/Ozpin is very powerful personaility that just ends up absorbing the other personailities of the peoeple he possesses and I think that would've been much more interesting for Oscar dealing with a slow loss of identity if you get what I mean and that is why Oscar has become less interesting to me
like for me personally I didn't like Oscar at all when he was introduced thought he was unnecccesarry but he grew on me in volume 6 because of the above idea because it really feels they have to keep the idea of "Ozpin is ultimately good"
Sorry for this getting long but also there is nothing inherently wrong with Ozpin learning from his mistakes but I feel for personally for me it just doesn't work at all for the story like I personally think the ultimate decision for Ozpin would be to somehow let go and just fade away entrusting this fight to the next generation as opposed to him learning and sticking around
gonna put this under a read more bc it’s long
yeah, no i totally agree with you. like...personally, i feel like one of the major overarching themes of RWBY as a series is that the newer generation is challenging the issues of the older generations and will come up with their own solutions to solve the neverending conflict between Salem/Oz/the Grimm and eventually, the gods themselves. so it makes the most sense (and makes it the most interesting) that Oz be just as morally ambiguous/stagnant as Salem - even if his actions are moreso good-aligned than hers are.
either way, his arc should be about letting go and letting the new generation take over. i’ll be honest that Oz is like....one of the least interesting aspects of the show to me bc of where he’s gone. like i’ve said before, i want RWBY to just be like. fuck it; we’re doing it our way. like they were in v6 to Qrow. but yeah, i think they’re setting Oscar to become a source of wisdom/knowledge, especially with having him be the one to get into the most conflict with Ironwood in v7 (which personally, i think that should’ve gone to RWBY).
kind of a tangent, but my main issue with Oscar as a character is that his role in the story supersedes the main four’s (especially Ruby’s) sometimes just by virtue of him being connected to an omnipresent being like Ozpin. like...as much as i loved RWBY taking over the ACEOps and showing them what’s what, i want RWBY (and especially Ruby) to be at the forefront of major conflicts, and imo, it should’ve been Ruby alone or RWBY as a whole confronting Ironwood when Ironwood crossed the point of no return in attempting to kill Oscar in the vault. if Oscar was the protagonist, that scene totally makes sense but...no amount of convincing can make me believe that he deserved that spot more than Ruby did. she’s the leader, the protagonist, and damn do i wish this show consistently presented it that way
wowerror replied to your post: “it’s important you pair up with someone you work...
sdjlasjlka Oz tried to take the choice away from them but Blake still managed to choose Yang
note how the only pair that had any kind of friction is the one that actually did just run into each other - the other partner pairs we saw had one side deliberately ensure they’d pair up with the other (Blake followed Yang and observed her before stepping in, Pyrrha pinned Jaune to a tree, Nora had her sloth call), Weiss and Ruby ran into each other by chance and took a long time to get along
The best way to stop from happening is just give the idea of a live action RWBY news a negative response so it won't be worth the money to make it
I mean, if RT goes the Lazer Team route with this film, then the real way people will show their support for it is by funding it themselves. Time will tell, and I don’t necessarily wanna rain on anyone’s parade by running a full-on boycott for the movie or anything.
I don’t think that the concept of a RWBY live action movie by itself is bad, BUT we’ve repeatedly seen that movie adaptations of cartoons don’t go so well. RT is it’s own production studio though, and not like Hollywood. Since RWBY’s their IP, it’s POSSIBLE that it might be good.
HOWEVER, considering my own personal dissatisfaction with the writing since Volume 2, I don’t exactly have high hopes for the film’s writing being much better than the current canon.
