Now that I've written and published 5 full HR fics, I wanted to put them on my blog (under the cut)! Thanks to everyone who answered my poll a few weeks ago, I've got a way better sense of direction now!

Here are the fics, in order! A Painful Mirror - Six months after meeting Shane's boyfriend, Yuna still has concerns. Word Count: 2,487

To Hate and To Hold - Hayden has never understood how things work between his best friend and his boyfriend - and he doesn't want to. But one dinner night may just force himself to open his eyes a little. Word Count: 3,602

Join the Club - Scott planned to reach out to Rozanov over the summer about his father. But now -- at the Opening Banquet for the 2017-2018 NHL Season -- is as good of a time as any. Word Count: 2,561

Showing Results For - 5 times Shane takes an "Am I Gay?" quiz, and 1 time he retakes one. Word Count: 12,710

Gather 'Round the Campfire - Shane, Ilya, Hayden, and Jackie play Never Have I Ever while on vacation. Everyone learns something about one another, and Shane learns that being open with the people he loves isn't so scary. Word Count: 5,415

Hi, thank you so much!! I loved writing it, so it means so much that you found me here to talk about it!

I remember saying this somewhere, but I truly believe that -- with the characters as they are -- the canonical version of events in HR was the least painful path for them. Which feels wild to say, given how awful that whole situation was, but I really mean it.

This fic (and the series of fics as a whole) is more or less my personal thesis for this. While there are paths that may seem better on the surface (such as being forced to have an explicit relationship negotiation), Shane and Ilya aren't actually in a position to have productive, honest conversations about what they are to each other. And their attempts at trying are more likely to do far more harm than good, even if they don't realize it.

Anyway, thanks for finding me here and chatting about it! I love this fic, and I'm pumped Ilya's POV coming up. And then, we'll get to how much damage this actually does.

One day, Shane is taking notes for an upcoming game when David comes over. After a greeting, they end up on the couch where Shane resumes his work.

It doesn't take long for Shane to notice, however, how fidgety and on-edge David is. Finally, he just asks.

And David haltingly explains that he knows he didn't do right by everything, and he could've done more, and he doesn't want Shane to be ashamed to talk to his dad.

And Shane is fucking baffled until David pulls out a "Gay Sex 101" book or some shit, and it becomes immediately clear that A) David feels bad that he didn't give a more inclusive sex talk and B) he's now trying to make up for this by killing Shane dead.

Shane stares at the book, mouth open, while David flips through it. He can't really hear what his dad is saying over the ringing in his ears because wasn't he supposed to be done with sex talks by now?? Oh God.

After a slightly uncomfortable amount of time, Shane cuts him off. "Dad. I guarantee I know so much more about this than you. Please stop."

As quickly as he can without seeming too embarrassed - because David knows that there's nothing to be embarrassed about, except this thing he's doing - he heads to the door, calling out an "I love you, be safe!"

The door clicks closed, Shane groans into his hands, and pulls out his phone to call Ilya.

He's found a new 'actual fucking nightmare'.

Colin was adamant about maintaining his well-crafted disguise, and Trent couldn’t begrudge him that. So there were no rendezvous or late-night text messages or even casual hangouts. Just because Colin now had someone who saw him in the closet didn’t mean he was keen to crack the door open any wider. He’d been doing just fine without Trent, and he could be fine for longer with him.

Which is why Colin’s presence in the office, clearly to talk to Trent individually, is so alarming. The blinds are open, his teammates are feet away, and yet Colin is breaking every rule he has to talk to Trent right now. ________ Or, Trent's perspective on Colin and Isaac's fraying friendship.
