You light up my goddamn day you know that?
OH... YOU MADE MY HEART WARM UP!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank YOU for lighting up my day today!!!!!!!!!!!!
You know, something always bugged me about Namine's powers. She specifically says she can control the memories of Sora and those connected to Sora's heart. Like, she makes that exact distinction. But I wonder, how much of a limit is that? If it even exists? Like, can she manipulate any memory, or do they HAVE to have met Sora?
Okay, so the way a “connection” works in kingdom hearts, when someone’s heart is connected to another’s, as Sora does all the time, is that it’s a two way memory
If you hang out with someone at the beach, then that becomes a memory that’s attached to you both at the same time, and links you together like a stepping stone between your hearts, and when the memory gets unlinked, it get removed from both people at the same time, like a two way street, because the stepping stone is either there or it’s not
So when Namine unlinks a memory in order to move it around the chain of memories between people, it gets removed from both people at the same time
we know this because when Sora was asleep getting his memories rearranged, when Namine unlinked them to then rearrange them, they got removed from the other people as well, and they all recall forgetting Sora for about a year or so before KH2 starts
So, Namine, in being able to effect Sora’s memories and unlink as many as those as she wants, can theoretically only remove the memories of Sora that other people have with Sora, so if she decides to poof Sora (or Xion) from existence, everybody is fine and otherwise has all their memories, except those involving the one forgotten person
And then we have Riku Replica, who as a copy of Riku himself, should have memories that don’t involve Sora, just as real Riku should have memories that don’t involve Sora, so when Namine mindblasts him, he should have just, forgotten all things involving Sora, instead he ended up in a coma having nothing at all in the noggin
Now, is that just due to his nature as a Replica? maybe? It’s the one case where it’s a little unclear. The Org 13/Ansem the Wise do have access to memory manipulation tech outside of Namine after all
DiZ rewrites Roxas’s personality in the datascape very easily without Namine’s help and the memory tech seems somehow fundamental to the Replica program tech in general
Namine has also shown that she can move along the memory lanes from Sora to other people, but she has to “Trace the connection” meaning between Sora and the intended person, there has to be a solid line of connection somewhere
The only person she’s shown attempting this on however is Terra, which, in BBS Terra was on the beach talking to Riku, and we do clearly see little Sora like, stop and Look at Terra for a moment, but they don’t ever actually talk
So it’s a little ambiguous there if that was a strong “memory” to count as a Direct Sora to Terra Link for Namine
if it was strong enough, then Namine just had to search Sora’s heart to find a link that connected to Terra somewhere to bridge the gap, and that makes her mindblasting Repliku an anomaly
But if not, then he easiest memory heart connection route for her is Sora > Ventus > Terra, in which case Namine can travel to and possibly affect memories of those not directly connected to Sora or about Sora, which explains Repliku
Meaning her only limit appears to be if she can Reach the memory in question if you assume her starting point is always Sora
so a dude who never heard of Sora and never heard of anyone ever connected to Sora, is likely someone Namine would be unable to reach and affect, but because of how Sora has terminal friend making disease, that ends up giving Namine a lot of reach and therefore a lot of potential affect
She does mention also when it comes to Xion, no mater how she rearranges Sora’s memories, that she can’t keep even a single one conection to Xion connected anywhere, due to how deeply Xion embedded herself into Sora’s memories, and Xion has never met Sora
So I think all memories, regardless if Sora is a person in them, are likely fair game for Namine to do what she wants with
Her limit is her being able to reach those memories, because her goal has to at least be connected to some sort of memory pathway in order for her to reach it, and her internal starting location is just, Sora centered
Aoyama: Country Aoyama! Aoyamada: City Aoyama! Mint: Oh my god, there’s two of them…
Concept: Jia Chong x Yuanji is just Girafi with tsundere spice.
Hmmm not really? At least I don’t think so. Yuanji and Fi may be kinda similar since they’re both calm and intelligent people, but Ghirahim and Jia Chong are radically different from each other thus leading to very different ship dynamics.
Get ready for a long-winded wall of text of pairing dynamics that you probably weren’t expecting as a reply!!!
Ghirahim and Fi actually have a lot in common (fierce loyalty, willing to do anything for their master) but with radically different personalities. Fi is calm and stoic. She’s intelligent and makes careful and calculated decisions. Ghirahim is temperamental and dramatic. While he’s not a complete idiot he’s definitely more impulsive and tends to think with his emotions rather than his brain. This pairing is basically the definition of “opposite attracts”
Dynasty Warriors has pretty one-note characters (and with a game with 70+ characters I can’t blame them). Yuanji is the tsundere and Jia Chong is the evil chancellor archetype (except not actually evil) and they both kind of just exist to enhance Sima Zhao’s character. Yuanji is there to push Zhao to step up to his responsibilities as a leader cause many lives are dependent on his leadership. Chong knows that to unite the land under a single ruler some unsavory and under handed methods are needed and he pushes Zhao into a the role of a ruthless ruler that is willing to kill and make an example of traitors.
In terms of temperamant they’re actually pretty even??? Like, they’re not complete diametric opposites like Ghirahim and Fi are. They’re both pretty calm and rational individuals, with the big difference being that Yuanji actually has morals where as Chong doesn’t lol. I think that difference yet their mutual respect for each other is an interesting dynamic.
But let me tell you the real reason why I always draw Jia Chong and Wang Yuanji together. Warning for some actual depressing Real Talk
@JoJos: Feelings about Speedwagon?
To those of us that have met him we love and admire him. The Joestar clan wouldn’t be without his constant guidance and reassurance. To Joseph, he was like a father figure.
As for the rest, everyone knows the legacy of Speedwagon and the foundation he created to help all in need. He’s revered, respected and will always be an honorary Joestar.
Is Kinstuck still a thing? If not, than shoot! If yes, who are Meenah and Feferi's fathers and do they even care?
Kinstuck is still a thing in my heart and brain even if I haven’t updated it in a thousand years whoops
I might as well confirm that meenah’s bio-dad is actually GHB… which makes kurloz and gamzee her uncles technically I guess. Feferi’s dad is a dude condy met in college who is not a main cast member, I don’t have a name for him but he’s a sorta goofy ska musician/scuba instructor who lives in cabo. Don’t ask me why I just thought it was fun.
Condy never told them outright who their dad’s were, she’d usually just laugh or play it off when they asked or say stuff like “What? Having the best mom in the world isn’t enough for you?”, but they’re both really smart and resourceful so they eventually did figure it out. But It was more just a sibling-bonding thing and a way to one-up their mom more than something they actually cared about.
Meenah doesn’t really like GHB, he was basically the main male authority figure in their lives growing up and she thinks he’s a grumpy jerk, so she was sorta bummed out about being related to him and she certainly doesn’t go out of her way to hang out with him. At 17 (the time of the portraits) Feferi has skype called her dad twice and thinks he’s nice enough, but doesn’t really feel a pressing need to get to know him better.
Also, regarding the Hebrew, very good translation! Fun note: Azal means Ran Out. Also, while Naharu does share a root with the word for river, Nahar, Naharu has a connotation of going somewhere wildly- With lots of energy and urgency. And while I don't know for sure if it's related, Japhet may have some roots in Yafe, meaning pretty, but take me with a grain of salt on that last one. (source: I'm an Israeli Hebrew speaker)
:o neat! That’s super cool! That could definitely give another angle into the type of people these names might have for at one point
