Perhaps my most self-indulgent project this year (so far), this little collection is meant to display characters from some of my favorite animated series and films who are either canonically some flavor of LGBT or who many fans - myself included - consider LGBT.

Using the Gilbert Baker pride flag because I'm a sucker for its complete rainbow design.

Gabu x Mei, Arashi No Yoru Ni, Semi-canon - One of the first Japanamation films I watched in earnest. These two and their movie are adorable as well as sorta impossible to interpret as not even slightly homosexual lol. Critics have referred to this couple as having a "romantic friendship", which, much like terms like Confirmed Bachelors and Life Partners, suggests a gay relationship being kept on the down low during more archaic days.

Norman Babcock x Neil Downe, ParaNorman, Fanon - Almost every pairing to come from the ParaNorman fans back 10 years ago when this film came out (!!!) annoyed me, but this one has a special place in my heart. ParaNorman's message of social ostracization could easily apply to any number of things - race, disability, mental illness, whatever - but given the presence of Neil's canon gay brother, the creator being an openly gay man, and that same creator basing Norman off of his childhood self, it's hard to ignore how succinctly the film details the experience of being a gay youth.

Ronno x Bambi, Disney's Bambi franchise, Fanon - If you've been on this site since the wild west days, you've probably seen ship art of these two. Admittedly there's little to either character (besides Bambi's very unmasc behavioral patterns) that suggests they're either into boys or, more importantly, into each other, but that's why fanfic is so much fun lol. I think I'm drawn to this pair because it fits my own preferences for a partner; a coy, measly nerd hitting it off with a rough-n-tumble badboy is one of my fave tropes.

Been getting into Crash lately, and I’ve decided that I love Alt. Tawna and Dingodile and would fight for them until my last breath. 🤎💙

Also, Crash and his sister, Coco, remind me of myself and @wreckham and that is absolutely a compliment! Love you, bud!

My friend, @wreckham and I like to talk about Balto 2: Wolf Quest, and it got me inspired to redesign Balto’s daughter, Aleu. I gave my redesign Jenna’s nose, underbelly and eye colors, Balto’s main fur color, and Aniu’s paws and eye patches. It was certainly a good opportunity for me to work on my canine anatomy, because Heaven knows the struggle is REAL.

4. Any interesting lore for your pride?

I’m not a hugely detailed lore person, and usually have more understated general ideas of who each of my kings/queens are personality wise, though I like to connect my main and side account prides through my lore. Ex. when I had a Sunrise queen on my main (Shiranui) and a Sunset queen (Eventides) on my side, I decided they were deity sisters. Since they were opposite karma alignments, they were always working to depose the other, but they still felt familial ties.

I also sometimes do lore based on aspects of their design. Like my current girl Pythia has the Augur base, so in keepings with the old Roman use of the word I made her a prophet who reads signs in flocks of birds

13. Favorite mutation?

I’m tempted to say tigons just because of how much I loved getting Tony during the initial release and how invested I became in the game during last Nov, but honestly I really like understated mutations too. Clawless is probably my favorite because, well, toebeans!!!!

14. Favorite game mechanic?

I LOVE the fact that lioden does events that last all month. So many other pet sims fail to engage me after a while and I think what lioden does that’s really cool and unique over many other breeding sims is actually give you a reason to log in every day. Even when other sims do events, they tend to last for about a week, spiking activity and then petering out right after. The month-long events gives me a chance to handle things at my own pace while also making me feel like there is always something to do once I’ve logged in.

A year & a day after my favorite film The Boxtrolls came out in 2014, it eventually led me to meeting @oozmaart and @wreckham. You’re 2 of my closest friends & love y'all so much!
