Hhhhhhohenheim!!
message me a character and iāll tell you five headcanons i have about them
MY WONDERFUL SAD DAD!!!
Hohenheim cries the day Edward is born. He dreamed for so long of starting a family. After wandering for hundreds of years, he came to believe it would never happen. Finding love with Trisha shocked him enough. That they actually stayed together for a period and had a child? Itās so emotionally overwhelming, he bawls at the sight of his newborn son.
He cries again for Alās birth, for that matter.Ā
During the short period of time Hohenheim lived with Trisha and their sons, he was completely clueless how to handle kids. It was so long ago since he was a kid. His life after Xerxes did not include significant long-term interactions with children. Hohenheim often suggested things for his sons to do that were very age inappropriate. Not in a gross way, but in like,Ā āWould you like to read? Hereās this really advanced history book.ā And Trisha has to butt in and be like,Ā āUm? Van? Al learned how to walk five months ago.ā (no wonder these kids learned advanced alchemy so young)
Hohenheim spent a VERY lengthy period in Xing. As in, well over a hundred years.Ā
He is fluent in multiple languages. Probably about seven. Heās very behind on everyday slang, though, naturally. And the form of Xingese he knows is two hundred years out of date. Sometimes you have to ask him what the hell he said because he used a word that hasnāt been common in seventy years, or used a verb form thatās largely faded from the language.
I had a dream with you in it last night!! we met in a hospital and then we moved on to look at lawn furnishings at the combination home depot craft bazaar? but THEN (and this is the fun part) we found a budgie with a bowl cut. a blue budgie! with a white bowl cut!
omg this was such a delight to wake up too :D i love this so much!!! i want the combination home depot craft bazaar to be real. and that budgie. i want that budgie
ty for sending this!!!
kicks up my feet. I want the director's cut on the whole first section of ToTS. The first 17-20 chapters or so, when Jace and Vraska are being teen hellions. What goes into reimagining how two characters interact and play off each other? Things like the bath scene, and going deep into the scams... all these new and exciting character moments, I want the Deep Lore on them.
Sure! This will probablyget quite long.
The premise of ToTS liesbehind the one quote from āThe Floodā:
āSheremembered her own young street rat years and grinned at the thought of howwell the teenage her and the teenage Jace would have gotten along.Ā Weād have torn up the town, she thought withmirth.Ā No bookshop would have beensafe.ā
At the beginning of ToTS, Jace has only been on Ravnica for amonth. Heās mostly been lingering about the Rubblebelt, having just got histattoos. If Vraska hadnāt met him, he would have gone deeper into society, andended up meeting Emmara like he does in canon. Itās that meeting that sets offthe whole AU and every difference from then on.
Fun fact ā When ToTS began, there was never any plan for chaptersin Jaceās POV. That happened once, people liked it a lot, and it continued. However the story was supposed to be 100% focussed on Vraska, and thatās why shegets the most airtime.
As for Vraskaās childhood, we donāt know where exactly shewas at this age in canon. In ToTS, her timeline goes like this
Raids on Dredgefold Docks started when she was four.
Her mother was killed when she was six. From then on, shelived with Sven and his mother, who also managed to hide during the raid thatkilled Yveta.
Everyone inDredgefold got rounded up and arrested when she was eight. Sven got away byhiding in the river, his mother didnāt
Vraska doesnātknow how long she spent in the Azorius prison. She thinks it was a few months,it was in fact most of a year. So she was nine when she sparked.
She spends afew months walking blindly about the multiverse, until she stumbles acrossTamiyo, who heals her and tells her what she is.
She returns toRavnica, finds that her home is gone, the docks have now been turned into alabour camp. After trying to beg on the streets of the Undercity, she istargeted for being a gorgon so goes above ground.
Vraska at the beginning ofToTS is fifteen (but she thinks sheās fourteen). Sheās chosen Tin Street as herterritory because it is full of food and plenty of places to hide. She tried toget charity from the Selesnya but got rejected for being a gorgon. So sheāsbeen by herself since she returned to Ravnica. When she meets Jace, sheās incrediblylonely. After all sheās been through, she has resolved the stand up for the lessfortunate, the same quality that defines her as an adult. So when she finds someoneher own age, who is skilled but needs help to survive, she welcomes thecompany.
The bath scene shows herneed to talk to someone, to share what sheās been through. She doesnāt want toadmit it, but she desperately wants sympathy, anyone to feel sorry for what sheāsbeen through. Because up to this point, no one has. Even though Sven feelssorry for her loss, he wasnāt there, he got away without ever having toexperience being in the hell that was prison. She feels like he doesnāt understand. However, Jace is lost and desperate, which is a feeling she knows very well, andshe feels like he might understand how she felt back then. Because heās thenthe only person she has, she becomes very emotionally reliant on him, which causesmany problems throughout her life. Thus her many arcs about wanting to be withJace, but learning to be her own person with her own goals.
Their scams arise from two factors ā Jaceās talents and amutual anger at how society wonāt help people like them. By herself, Vraska cankill, but she doesnāt have the necessary investigative skills to blackmail.Blackmail and extortion is something Jace canonically does when he arrives onRavnica, so these missions combine their two skills. Jace can blackmail, Vraskacan do any legwork/killing if required. When Vraska starts working for theOchran, they get their targets given to them making life a lot easier. (This isalso when the Orzhov and Dimir take notice of Vraska, which is an essay foranother time.)
As for how the two interact with each other. From theirfirst meeting, Vraska assumes the role of protector. This is initially becauseJace is new to Ravnica, and he was also a very small teenager. (He got hisbiggest growth spurts about 17/18, which is why Ral called him Pipsqueak alot.) He was smart but fragile, which made Vraska feel like he neededdefending. She also wanted to be like her mother ā the strongest person sheknew, and someone who always protected those around her. Ā (Someone ask me about Yveta, she has such agood story but I canāt fit it in anywhere.) When she assumed the protector role, Vraska became harsher on herself ā unableto excuse her own weakness in fear of letting him down. Jace, upon realisingthis, took it upon himself to try and keep her confidence up. They are bothstill doing this.
Jace, during their teenage years, idolised Vraska more thanwas probably healthy for either of them. He started crushing on her as soon asthey met, but viewed her as something beautiful and untouchable. (Which is abig issue in current chapters now Vraska has decided he canāt possibly likeher.) When she breaks down, be it through pain, fear or anger, itās a hugeshock for him and that forces him to consider that she isnāt just a support forhim to rely on, she has her own needs too. So he tries to support her back. Theyprop each other up, so when they are apart, they both fall over. They are both happierwith themselves and with life, when side by side. Even adult Jace falls backinto his thinking of āsheās strong, sheāll be fineā, which really doesnāt workbecause of Vraskaās deep-seated self hatred.
wrexie replied to your post āDo you know if there is any reason Paninya is also missing an arm in...ā
it's so that she can do the arm wrestling competition and kick off the whole rest of that episode, if anyone's wondering? is this the way to contribute information
OH YEAH I FORGOT ABOUT THAT. That makes sense, thanks for bringing that up!
Oh I'll tell you three things I think know about you if that's your poison. 1) There's like this... old film you like. I can't remember the name of it. But you posted a clip once. A guy in a tux? was on a bed and he said something super quotable. 2) I think you have freckles? 3) You were also raised lds, in the heartland of the church, which if I'm right about and you're old-blood mormon then it also means 4) there's a significant chance you and I, strangers on the internet, might be cousins
sorry for answering ask 10000 years late!
1) itās called the Shadow and itās based off of old comics which are based off of an old radio show that was one of the inspirations for Batman and itās cheesy as hell but i do love it!
2) yes! i do not tan, i burn and if iām lucky i freckle. most of my freckles are on my arms but when i was working in outdoorsy settings i got pretty freckled everywhere.Ā
3) i was raised LDS by veeery orthodox mormon parents (who would be considered old-blood mormons too), but i was actually raised mainly in illinois!Ā (with other childhood places mainly in texas and ohio) i live in heartland, i was the only mormon in my highschool and did homeschool LDS seminary cause the only other LDS kid was like an hour away. however i now live in the LDS heartland of utah, mainly because it was the furthest away my parents would let me move away with them still being okay with it and, well, i really needed to get away from them.
4) i believe it and if i talked to my father to get access to his extensive genealogy work we could probably prove it. but hell yeah cuz.Ā

Ā fma has given me such unreasonable standards for...
squintsā¦. I thinkā¦. mmmmmaybe d.gray-man? I havenāt seen/read it in a hot decade, and thereās definitely a flirt character, but I beliiieeve he falls under the same umbrella havoc does and. since weāre using fma as the bar. anyway thatās the only one I can think of and uhhhh neither fma03 nor fmab actually manage to pass those parameters perfectly either sooo maybe shounen sucks for rn
OH YEAH, Iāve seen like, I donāt know 60/70-ish episodes of that and it seemed to be okay, except that it just didnāt really have a lot of female characters in comparison to its male ones, but fma doesnāt either, so yeah, I think it does pass theĀ ātreats its female characters with half an once of respectā test
Sadly it falls apart atĀ āsemi-decent pacingā because OH BOY it did NOT know how to pace itself
@wrexie finished my commission (yesterday technically but I was asleep when it happened, I've been sick ok) and I'm screaming?? Just gosh, I love how they made the bottom look like there are freaking tear splotches and water marks and stuff (Cause Elincia would definitely cry when looking at this aha) The twins look so goddamn good and I love the outfits Wrexie designed, and the whole warm atmosphere of the image is just šššš And oh my god Alea's hair turned out so good, and the texture on her sweater! Ah! I can't stop just raving about how amazing this is I squeal every time I see it it's so good 100/10 would commission again
