Peer Review: Draft 1 Argument 1
DUE by Friday, February 2, 2018 to your Tumblr -- Part 2 of your “attendance” for class on Thursday!
(1) Take a selfie with your group members and post it along with your response to the questions.
(2) Please take the time to read aloud what you have for a working draft -- it should be/must be more developed than what you had in class on Tuesday. Once you have listened to the working draft, please respond to the following questions about *each* group member’s draft:
(a) What is the central claim? Write it out. How does the writer respond to the rhetorical situation asked of them?
(b) How/where is/will the central claim supported? What direct evidence will be used? How does this help establish ethos (credibility)?
(c Give 2 specific reasons why this IS appropriate for an adolescent audience.
(d) How does the writer develop pathos (emotions)? Logos (logic and organization)? Are they clearly established? How so?
(e) List 2 things that you think are working really well; list 2 things that aren’t working so well and need worked on.
(3) After reading to each group member’s draft, please do this quick post-review reflection to be completed by each individual writer in response to the review:
(f a)fter hearing feedback from your peers, what steps do you need to take in order to effectively move towards the second draft (be very specific)?
Please remember that that purpose and goal of peer review is to offer constructive feedback -- saying “this is awesome!” or “this sucks” is neither constructive nor helpful. Do not focus on surface-level things, focus on higher order things (the items listed above) to help move you productively forward to draft #2.
