Alright, guys. My inbox is officially empty again. At this point, I’d usually be reopening for prompts, but my schedule from now through June is about to get insane. We’re talking working three weeks straight without a day off followed immediately by a vacation and another two weeks after that. Between running around for all of that and a few other obligations I’ve got, I don’t want to open for prompts again just to make the people who sent them in wait months for their ficlet. The whole point of this year was for me to stop doing that.
So I’m going on a semi-hiatus instead.
I won’t be reopening for prompts until probably the beginning of July, but in the meantime, I’ll still be reblogging some memes that you guys can send in. They won’t be the same as the ficlets, but I’ll be able to churn them out faster than I do the ficlets. Or... Well, that’s the goal. Also remember that my askbox is always open for questions regarding any of my fics (even the ones not posted through here) or any Leonard Snart-type questions you’ve got.
Replies will be coming soon! Sorry, guys! Right around the time I closed prompts, I ended up diving into projects on crocheting big blankets for a friend who’s having a baby and a coworker who had just bought her first place. Those projects were on narrower deadlines and they kind of took over my life for a while??? I’m surprised I didn’t crochet my hands right off, honestly, but now that all of that is done and my hands are free again, I’m getting back to the whole writing thing. Working on the prompts in my inbox now and I’ll hopefully be posting them soon!!
Happy New Year!
As promised, I am back! My resolution is to keep this blog going as much as I can--life permitting--but that also means a couple changes.
When I open for prompts, it’ll probably only be for a day in an effort to keep my inbox from getting unmanageable. As a rule (mostly to keep myself organized), I’ve tended to only open after I’ve emptied my inbox of current prompts. It’s been how I’ve been able to be sure that no one’s prompt gets ignored. I know, though, that leaving it open for multiple days has gotten me such an influx that I end up not reopening for months. I want to try and keep things a little more regular this year.
It may not be a permanent thing, but for right now, I’m taking Captain Canary off of my “writes for”. I ship them and I adore them, but I don’t seem to have a strong writing muse for them. I tend to struggle and I don’t want it to reach a point where these ficlets end up sounding forced. If you’ve been sticking around for this ship, know that this isn’t permanent. Muses are a fickle thing and I could get slapped in the face one day by inspiration with them. I am still accepting memes/questions about the ship, though!
That said, I’m still writing for Rogue Canary since I seem to have an easier time when Mick is in the equation.
I am not writing for Earth X!Leo Snart. What we’ve seen of him so far, I don’t seem to have a voice for. As with Captain Canary, I don’t want any attempt to come out forced.
-hiatus until january-
I’m not dead, guys. I promise. I just suck.
Things got crazy in September and it flowed right into the holiday season. It’s been ridiculous and if you follow my Ao3, I’ve probably only done one or two fics in the time. This isn’t my norm at all, but the craziness of everything right now has been beating my muse back into a corner and I’m having some issues getting it back. I will. I always do.
I feel horrible for disappearing the way I have and for making all the people with still-pending prompts wait. I’m sorry. I’m trying to get things back on track. It’s just taking some time. I do have one prompt reply sitting in my drafts, but I’m not entirely happy with it, so that’s why it hasn’t gotten posted. I feel like what I wrote only addresses half of the prompt, so it needs some tweaking. Which are giving me issues.
I am calling an official hiatus for the rest of the year, though. With Christmas right around the corner and New Years right after that, I know I’m not going to be able to really get anything done. I’m starting fresh in January and, hopefully, that will help with the muse issues.
Again, guys, I’m so sorry about how I’ve flaked out (unintentional winter pun; I see you, Len). I want to do better on this blog. I will do better on this blog.
Just a little reassurance that, no, I’m not dead. Life has been insane and, as a result, my writing muse has taken a little vacation. I’m trying to get it back on track, but it’s been a bit of a struggle. It’ll come back and this blog will continue, I promise! All prompts that are sitting in my inbox will get written as soon as my muse will give me words. Writer struggles.
