In trying to come up with ideas for No Stress November, I started designing a writeblr event called the Writeblr Village! Focusing on the community and sharing ideas and supporting each other.

Here are the “locations” in the village!

Height Comparison Tag

Premise: use this website to compare the heights of your characters!

Featuring the main (ish) cast of Obsidian Sapphires...

The things that I would do for a male fantasy warrior type avatar on this, and a cloaked lady too...

Anyway, upon making this I'm pure astounded that most of these folks are more-or-less even-stephens in terms of their height. Also, most of these people are antagonists 🙈

A few outliers exist, *cough, genetics, cough, look below the cut 👀*. Alycja jokes that Cheyoria is "a tree" because she grew like nine inches very quickly.

A lot of the lads are pretty average, though, except for a certain mister Bloodcarver, who happens to be two millimetres off 6'6 (I cackled when I saw that one, lmao).

And that brings us to, the cut. There's a few details that aren't mentioned here.

So, to keep things short (pun not intended), Eshani and Claudia are High Councillors. One of the things that occurs upon receiving the Mark of Morilast (one has to murder a High Councillor to get it) is that those affected undergo a very severe growth spurt. Like, 'one will probably exceed forty feet in height by the end' severe. So for the two ladies in question, their taller height is their actual form, their shorter one is their human form (they're both shapeshifters).

As for the skeleton, it makes a lovely guest appearance at the start of Obsidian Sapphires (for the dramatic effect that is breaking a stained glass window, lol). It's a giant spelled corpse that waltzed out of a temple, what else can I say?

Will of Cold and Fire

Hello Everyone, I hope you enjoy this poem!

Will of Cold and Fire:

A Garden.

Made for two Young Hearts.

Love is not always smart nor rational spark....

The promises made showed that part.

We still fought for it, lived for it, our names engraved on a bark.

Prior to the undone start....

There was no storm that could be foreseen

No night in gleam

So, when did the garden have weeds?

When did the sun start to recede?

When did the moon shed it's light on the deed?

For now, I stand in the dead of night.

Birds sound....turn to an silent eerie so loud

Memories light and present fright.

The trees, once lush...

Now barren with monochrome leaves that came with the dusk.

I see the ghost of you and your grave beside...

And the ghost within me, teller of time.

The path led to the dead garden in circles.

I stayed there for a few years.

Darkness was all the adhere.

I needed you the most, you where not near.

I became a fade...

Walking life with little trace.

As I give the silver necklace to your ghost....

Place it around your neck....

Look fondly in your eyes....

The dawn breaks the night.

I turn to my right....

I see the new turn that was never in sight.

I placed the key on the journey found...

Into the piece that was a key round.

In this path, light floods the surrournd.

Flowers on the ground and trees with colors most resound.

No different from the path previous...

The challenges would provide no dreams nor sleepiness.

I walks, expedience and mysterious.

I step with armour....

Not afraid of the falter.

I will find love again....

Just like when we first sang.

I have the Will of Fire, just like Prometheus.

This was always my desire....to spread and feel the pyre.

"You have no idea what you're doing," he growled, still avoiding her eyes.  "Then tell me, because I don't get you," she crossed her arms over her chest, staring at his broad back, which was framed by a pair of onyx wings. Damian, however, didn't use words to tell her what he meant. No, he touched their bond, still facing away from her, and as heat and a very strong feeling, she dared not to name, rushed through Lysandra, she understood. "Oh..." she breathed, taking a step towards him. " Don't ever do that again," Damian exhaled deeply as if it took him an incredible amount of effort to remain standing still, slowly he turned to her and looked deep into her eyes with his hard gaze. "Or we'll do something we'll both regret," with those words, he passed by her and returned to the hall.

Writetober Day 3: Path

If there was one thing Jovany did not need – aside from unavoidable duties and busybody clansmen, of course – was a curious young wife sharing his space, getting into everything. Which Nino did with alarming regularity.

For someone who assuredly did not know the language, a fact which Jovany had tested, Nino spent an awful lot of time getting into Jovany's papers.

That he could write and even figure in his own language was obvious. Nino had signed their marriage contract, rather than marking an X as illiterate would do. Jovany had also caught Nino going through his accounts book on more than one occasion.

It was possible that he was just trying to learn, but the fact remained that those weren't his papers.

Most weren't even Jovany's. They belonged to the clan and he was only allowed access due to his standing. So Nino, who was only granted status as his wife, definitely had no right to them. Jovany had not bothered to put them anywhere more secure because, well, before, he'd had his house to himself. And Nino's attitude when first they met had been more than a little misleading.

Behind his cute face and seemingly placid demeanor, Nino was as active and mischievous as a ferret.

Jovany could not figure him out at all. He was well educated, clearly, and totally inept at any kind of practical task or anything related to housekeeping. That might imply that he was of a high bloodline, wherever he was from. But he was also entirely unfazed by anything that had happened to him, which implied a more grounded and worldly outlook than most nobles would have, in Jovany's experience.

He would expect someone in Nino's position to be at least a little diffident, at least a little well behaved. Even if just in the beginning. Instead, Nino had unashamedly helped himself to Jovany's things from the first, and here he was again, intently studying Jovany's map. That map was his, copied off of his people's old documents and adjusted with his own exploration.

He pulled it out of Nino's hands and said "no", which was one of the words that Nino did know.

Not that he respected it. Nino was not only curious, he could also be damned stubborn. He snatched the map right back and spread it out before pointing to a spot seemingly at random.

"There," he said.

"You don't even know what I'm looking for," Jovany said, though he knew Nino wouldn't understand him. Jovany did his best, in his spare time, when he wasn't too annoyed with the younger boy. And he knew that Nino hanging around the other clan wives would certainly help his vocabulary in the long run, but it hadn't even been a week yet. Still not enough for them to communicate with any ease.

Nino pointed at the map again. "A road," he said, in that awkward and clunky accent of his.

"That's not a road, that's…" Well, Jovany didn't know exactly what it was. The original map was centuries old and there was no one left who knew about these particular map keys. He certainly didn't, and that was probably obvious just from looking at his notes. "Don't tell me you were an apprentice cartographer."

Of course Nino couldn't tell him any such thing, whether it was true or not. "A road," he insisted.

"Fine, I'll go look when I have time," Jovany said, retrieving the map again. Who knew when that would be. Nino's so-called road was quite a distance into the clan's uncharted territory and he still had responsibilities to help fight against the prince's not infrequent incursions. Still, it at least gave him something to work towards. For now. "But you need to stop going through my things without permission."

Nino gave him a perfectly innocent expression in return.

Some things did not need words. It was not as if Nino didn't know any better, he just didn't care. Some men might beat their wives for disobedience but Jovany wasn’t the type, even if they had been married in reality not just on paper, which they weren’t. Nino certainly knew that. He seemed to be good at judging people, instinctively staying away from those with short tempers or low morals.

And most likely, Jovany knew, he was just trying to learn the language, which he could hardly fault Nino for. Nino chattered a lot to himself in his own language, and seemed to be a talkative person by nature. It could not be easy living somewhere without the ability to communicate with anyone. And it's not as if there was anything particularly damning or secretive in the documents that he had. It was just the principle of the thing, which Nino did not care about at all.

Jovany sighed. If the thing that Nino pointed out on the map really was a road, let alone one which led to what he was looking for, there would be no living with him.

Tea: What does your character find comfort in?

Lying alone at night, Shippai finds comfort in stargazing. It didn't take him too many years to understand that he was doomed to be alone, but he takes solace in the fact that the stars will never betray him.

He'd tell anyone that his favourite constellation is the depiction of Hāplut's fight against Hruz, the Vulture Demon of Plague, but in reality, he's always felt closer to the Rothaaring, the red-eyed cat who brings tragedy.

Born under its influence, Shippai has been ostracised for most of his life and his heart goes out to the poor constellation that's spent all of history being feared and despised.

Boba: What's something that your character keeps hidden? Does anyone know about it?

Fear. Fear of love specifically, fear of loving someone, fear of being loved by someone she doesn't love back, fear of never loving anyone, fear of loving someone who doesn't love her back. She hides just about everything that goes on in her head behind a mask of ego. And she's good at it too, so it takes a good while for just one person to figure it out and it's the person she fell in love with.

I don't wanna reveal the character because I like to build these things up in the writing itself but it is one of my recent characters :)

Ooooh yay! I’ll answer this for some Seven Stations characters :)

CW for eating disorders

Belladonna doesn’t eat dessert. She has an eating disorder and basically outright refuses to eat sugar. The thing she misses most is chocolate, though

Cassie likes a lot of things, but I think her favourite would be apple pie. She’s always down to try something new, though - she loves food

Nellie (credits to my gf :)) is also experimenting with different baked goods - she likes baking them. I think her favourite is probably strawberry shortcake. I know she’d make an excellent one
