I've answered 2 here and 9 here which leaves us:

7 - a coping mechanism (pick a character that uses it and obviously I am going to choose Ginny)

First, I LOVE this question, thanks for the ask ❤️

Ginny's coping mechanism is flying.

I believe this to be true. With every fiber of my being I believe Ginny flies for perspective, flies to process, flies to escape, flies to change her mood.

Ginny Weasley's number one go-to coping mechanism is flying and that's why I took it away from her in my big WIP.

(Writing flying is boring. And hard. But mostly boring.)

I like to write dialog. But after pouring all her thoughts and feelings into an evil diary who tried to kill her, I don't believe Ginny would ever consent to talk therapy. So I have insane fun making her cope by extroverting her thoughts to accidental emotional support pets who don't want to be there.

2 and 22 for the ask game, if you PLEASE

2 - a mannerism that accidentally slipped in that now you've stuck to

Tween Ginny's adverb-soaked, hyperbolic, rambling mental commentary. I've been trying to mature her out of it, but it's a hard habit to break.

Also her consistent eye roll. My sister cuts me off at one per chapter.

22 - a piece from canon you love to ignore

Peeves? His stuff gets cut even more than Percy's. I'm sure I'll regret it when I need him during the Carrows year.

1 and 19 for the ask game please :)

19 - a fear you associate with (Ginny)

We are on the same page with the belief Ginny has issues around control and manipulation.

What I find interesting is she would (and does) push back against external controls. She's a strong person with personal boundaries and isn't afraid to enforce them.

Her fierce (over)reaction to Dean helping her through the portrait hole isn't a matter of capability (or feminism or chivalry or weakness) - my take is she's triggered by a post-traumatic aversion to feeling steered.

But what I think truly terrifies Ginny is an offshoot of that: the more nebulous post-Chamber fear she is capable of being controlled at all. That she might be - deep down no matter what sort of external bravado she might display - the kind of unheroic person who could be manipulated without realizing it by someone she hates or allowing it from someone she loves, it makes no difference.

That doesn't mean "being controllable" is a rational fear - but I believe that's where interesting residual trauma from the Chamber lies.

From Ginny W Potter ask game, #1 & #11

1 - a habit you love to give a character

Ginny is an early riser. One of those accomplished, spring out of bed first thing in the morning, firing on all cylinders, stole my brother's broom and put it back before anyone else was awake, morning people.

I am not, by nature, a morning person. Ginny's ability to function before dawn is based on observations made while I adapted to the obscenely perky biorhythms of my offspring, who take after their Dad.

11 - preferred POV and why

3rd person limited Harry or Ginny. I never intended to have a "style," but the stories I fell into are driven by the contrast between their internal narrative and what they allow the world to perceive.

I think the character "win" for both stories would be to heal that schism. Ginny's internal flow is easier to write, but her thoughts are less disciplined than Harry's. Her emotional spaghetti doesn't always drive the story forward and in young Ginny's POV I'm constantly searching for that sweet spot that balances chaos with progress. Harry's "voice" isn't as natural for me, but his POV is more mindful. Makes for cleaner drafts.

4 and 8 for the writers ask game, please!

4 - jewelry I don't have a ton of jewelry head canons for Ginny, but I do think she's sunshine girl and wears gold or rose gold and has fun dressing up - she's bold and playful and can care or not care, depending on the day. When she was a kid she absolutely broke into Aunt Muriel's safe once or twice to take that tiara out for a joyride down the banister. My one specific jewelry headcanon is Ginny did not want to go back to Hogwarts for her seventh year. She barely adhered to the uniform, sported a 90s choker the whole year, and not once did McGonagall take points.

Harry (of course) is a watch and wedding ring kind of guy.

8- a small headcanon that stuck

Ginny is *terrible* at Herbology. By her fifth year, the plants are terrified of her, they wilt in her presence on principle. Neville is too sweet to think this is hilarious, but it's close.
