1. OOOOH good question! It took me a while to figure out there were people like me. I loved whump my whole life, but only discovered the term for the first time last year. And it was only a bit later I found out there was an entire COMMUNITY dedicated to it! I found out I think when my friend sent me a post from a whump blog, and I realized OH?? WAIT?? A COMMUNITY?? I remember I was absolutely thrilled and excited knowing I wasn't alone! I'm really glad I've officially joined now. It's so much fun.

2. And I think it's absolutely SPLENDID. I think I should definitely be using it a lot more. There's just so much opportunity for it. Like, will Whumpee they be found in a horrid state, shocking and horrifying their rescuer? Will anyone come at all? If someone does come, What will happen to them once they arrive??? SO MUCH JUICY OPPORTUNITY!!

I think everyone and their mother has heard about An Umbral Arena by now, my upcoming self-publish gay vampire novel, but I'll put the summary here anyway:

Avrae’s always been a soldier. She is now very firmly retired, of course, content to casually hunt petty criminals and read gothic literature, but when the closest person she has to an “old friend” knocks at her door, does she really have a choice but to drop everything and risk her life in an intergalactic blood-sporting competition she will almost certainly fail to return from? Of course not. The Umbral Arena is designed to break you down until you can’t pick yourself up again, but the biggest challenge will be managing a collection of vampires who unequivocally hate each other and keep them working as a unit until it’s complete. There really is no rest for the wicked.

I'm also still planning to finish Five Card Draw, a YA fantasy heist novel:

Prue Kerry is a fourteen-year old pickpocket living on the streets of a city run by crime. Their dream is to be a member of the Stacked Deck, an organization run by the frigid Queen of Diamonds. When a new power leads to them being inducted, they learn that there’s more to being a Card than toughness.

in the whump sphere, I'm working on a multichap I can't talk about until next month, a couple of fills for the Doctor from Febuwhump, and the end of a Mediwhump May piece.

In the smut space, In the Hall of Reality is still ongoing! Might write a bit more for that this week.

Cold day, hot tea and peaches. . Today my leg is killing me, so I have my foot wrapped and I'm trying not to do much. Just sitting here having a late lunch and watching some Demon Slayer.
