It’s been quite fun. It truly was, and Y/N would lie if she’d say the opposite. After few pathetic attempts to find the one she would spend the whole life with, Y/N figured it was simply not for her. After all, not everyone was meant to be that lucky, was it? Someone could easily find love, for someone new career opportunities would show up just like that, and Y/N… had a talent to get herself into rather difficult situations, apparently.
It’s not like the girl judged someone who chose to take a friends with benefits path, but she could never imagine herself getting involved in one. Y/N believed that she needed to have a special, romantic connection with a person in order to get intimate with them. Yet, there she was, getting dressed pretty for him, every time promising herself that it’d be the last time.
She knew she’d get attached from the very beginning. Luke was kind and thoughtful, always looking after the girl in their absolutely weird, with no sense at all, relationship. He warned that he could not have anything serious due to his busy working schedule, and Y/N, like an absolute dumb-ass, agreed, saying she didn’t want anything serious at first place. To be fair, it’s really how she felt in the past. In that very moment she maybe was, but not for too long. Not only her body was craving for more, but Y/N’s soul, too. Like two night moths they were flying on the light of each other, not knowing that they were simply burning one other. After all, Luke was no less naive, thinking that he would not grow a flaming sympathy for Y/N. For the girl who always was sincere with him. Who he could share evenings with, talking about life and ending up just falling asleep together. Perhaps, that was the first bell Luke needed to pay attention on way earlier — right when their dates for pleasure suddenly turned into something more meaningful. When he’d find himself looking forward for another meeting or at least a small talk. When he felt a very first sting of burning jealousy, hearing she might need to end it all up and search for something more serious. He could be serious, too, though. And looking back, Luke realised that he always was, in fact, when it was about them.
"Y/N?…" the guy called her name, feeling like the heart was about to break the chest. Every time they agreed to meet, he was promising himself it’d be the time when he’d finally confess feelings. And every time the guy couldn’t simply find enough of courage. Was tonight the night?
"Mhm?" Y/N lazily replied, looking at her hand in his and thinking that it’s not what people, probably, did when they had no true feelings for each other.
Luke knew he’d step back, just like the last time, that’s why he called her name first. But why was he so scared to lose her? Why was it so hard to understand feelings of another person? Sometimes it felt like Y/N was all his, but sometimes – as if the guy only imagined her. That she didn’t exit at all, and he was just coming up with pictures in his head. However, if it were a dream, why not to dream up even more?…
"I know it might sound unexpected…" Luke said, hating himself for not being able to just spill out what’s on his mind. "I’m really scared to do this now," the guy chuckled and looked at Y/N, as if hoping that confession would make her think first before rejecting him right away. Maybe, just maybe, they had a chance to build something more normal than what they had for the past few months. "But… the more time we spend, the more we just… hang out together, the more I think that… I have feelings for you. I’m not just attracted to you, I do… I do," he hesitated, as Y/N still didn’t say anything, and as much as Luke wanted to chicken out again, there was no chance of going back anymore, so he continued. "Like you. And so, I wanted to suggest… to actually get to know each other and try… to build something serious together. I… I wanna ask you out, go somewhere and have a proper date," he glanced at their hands, fingers intertwined. "What do you think about it?" the guy asked quietly and looked up at Y/N, once he finished the speech he’s been spinning in his head for a while.
The girl focused the gaze on Luke, observing his beautiful crystal blue eyes, and smiled just with the corners of her lips, as she was no less scared.
"You’re not saying it… just under the euphoria, are you?" Y/N asked carefully. She needed to know.
"No," Luke chuckled and simply hugged the girl, pulling her closer to his bare chest. "Although I always feel euphoria next to you, so if you’re about that then I don’t exactly know how to reply," he flirted a little, having a weird burst of courage, and gently kissed Y/N’s temple, feeling especially tender at that exact moment.
The girl only giggled and placed a head on Luke’s shoulder, still going through the words he told her a minute ago. And when the musician wanted to beg for at least some answer already, Y/N finally broke the silence.
"I want that, too," she simply said, not wanting to torment him with anticipation. If anything, the girl knew well herself how petrifying it all was. "To be honest, I— I was thinking really a lot about us lately. About what I said when we only started it, about… how much I regretted letting you in my life, and at the same time being so thankful to even just know you," she stared at Luke’s eyes, always falling in those two oceans, but never drowning in them. "I want you to take me out, too," she admitted and smiled, covering the guy’s lips with hers in a small kiss. All of a sudden it gave them a sense of relief.

There was nothing better than holding his hand in hers. To reflect a smile on his face. To feel the heartbeat of each other every time they were close.
Sometimes Y/N thought she only imagined him. She created him like a puzzle she used to make in the evenings when was very little. Calum was someone the girl could call perfect. Of course, everyone had their flaws, however, when you loved someone the flaws seemed quite insignificant.
She loved him. He was her second breath, her reason the girl believed in happy endings. It was even funny, amusing and little absurd how two people, who were scared of commitment before, were suddenly searching for love in each other.
Calum adored her. He enjoyed her bright laugh in late afternoons, when they were watching some silly comedy. Praised Y/N's little sad face each time he’d forget to buy something from their shopping list or finish a pack of crisps that supposed to be for both of them. He was guilty, he knew it.
But Y/N was guilty, too. For entering his life and turning everything upside down. For not warning that her smile would change everything in him. The musician felt alive next to her, and she knew it.
"Don’t look at me like this," Y/N chuckled, resting hands on his shoulders. Calum led her in a dance, and even though the room was full of strangers, it felt as if there were just two of them.
"Why so?" Cal giggled back, taking his time to observe the girl’s beautiful eyes. They were shining, and he wanted to believe he was the reason of it.
"You make me shy," she smiled wider, and Calum only laughed at such confession. He doubted it was the truth, because his Y/N could be naughty, but not shy. Not at such moment at least.
"I make you shy? And that’s it?" he asked, smiling.
Y/N made an innocent face only and shrugged, so Calum couldn’t help himself but leave a kiss on the lips.
"I’m going to get us another drink," he whispered and pulled away gently, when the music ended.
Y/N nodded, following Calum with a gaze. It felt like the smile didn’t leave her face for the whole evening. Perhaps, she needed to be careful with that thought, as the girl was about to receive a message that could change everything she believed in.
Cal just disappeared from the sight, when the girl’s phone vibrated. Y/N lazily took it out of a purse and checked the notification. It was a blank email with a photo attached, nothing else. The girl rolled the eyes and already wanted to push a button "spam", seeing unknown address, as noticed on the picture preview outlines of her boyfriend. Even when the photo downloaded, and the girl could see Cal with someone else, she still thought it was fake, a silly prank. Calum was loyal, and he wouldn’t cheat on her. They were both very open about their relationship, and Y/N never had any doubts about him. The girl didn’t have a good look at the photo, when the phone vibrated again. She sighed annoyingly and opened another email, where few more photos were included, as well as a link to Google Drive. Curiosity, or maybe already doubts, took over. Y/N looked around and hurried to a more quiet place, away from the guests. She supposed to celebrate Michael’s birthday, like everyone else, but her festive mood disappeared just at the snap of fingers.
The girl seat on a couch and open the link. Surely, she knew it wasn’t safe to open a link from unknown sender, however, it was Google Drive, so the girl doubted it was just spam already. Y/N was too intrigued – and not in a good way, so she took the risk.
The girl saw few dated folders, the most recent one was created last week. Just like she suspected, there were photos inside – Calum, hanging out with some ginger girl. The stranger was clearly older than Y/N, but looked good, she though. Y/N couldn’t find anything provocative, however, by the look of it, those two clearly had a good time together, laughing and even cuddling each other.
"Here you are! Are you hiding from someone? I barely found you."
Y/N looked up and saw Calum standing in front of her, holding two cocktails in both hands. The girl didn’t even have powers to give Cal at least a short smile. She stood up and took the glass, placing her phone in his palm. Confused, Cal glanced at the screen.
"What is it?" Y/N, drinking the cocktail through a straw, could see how the boyfriend’s face changed, slowly. "This is… This is not what you think," she almost chocked at such a banal phrase. "Where did you get this? Did you follow me?"
The irritation and panic was written on his face, and Y/N started to feel sick of Cal all of a sudden. The girl took her phone back roughly, fighting with a desire to splash the drink on his face.
"Y/N…"
"Unknown admire sent it to me," she finally replied, looking at his eyes and still not being able to believe that a person who she trusted the most failed her like that, lied to her. "Why, Calum? You could just tell me if you didn’t feel the same anymore, why to play this game?" the girl couldn’t tell if she was hurt or simply disappointed. Y/N thought they were not just a boyfriend and girlfriend. It always felt like there was something more than that, they were both friends and lovers. A little family in their own world.
"It’s not a game. Look, I didn’t cheat on you."
"Yet?"
Cal sighed heavily and looked up at the ceiling.
"Do we really gotta do this now? Right here, with all your friends around?" he asked, hoping to make her come to the senses, however, those questions made Y/N nothing, but angry.
"How dare you to ask me this, like it’s not important?"
"Because it’s not!" Calum snapped, leaving his glass on a tray of a passing by waiter, Y/N did the same. "These photos… It’s not… What it is."
"Then what is it? Sneaking out at nights, hugging her? Do I look like an idiot?"
"Look I can’t tell you, but––"
"Unbelievable," Y/N laughed shorty, but she wasn’t really having fun at that moment. The girl headed to the exit of the room, feeling like she couldn’t stay there any longer.
"Please, don’t go," he almost whispered, tiredly, and hurried up to follow her. "Y/N! You can’t just leave, all our friends are here, let’s not do it now."
"I’m sorry, but this is more important to me now. You can stay, as I already understood that seeing someone else isn’t a big deal to you," the girl smirked, calling a taxi.
"I’m not seeing anyone," Calum repeated, even though he knew how it all sounded, when Y/N literally had photos, proving a completely different thing.
"You keep telling me this, but you don’t explain what it is then," the girl said, grinning sadly. "Before lying you needed to come up with a truthful story, Calum," she smirked and got into a car.
The musician followed her, as he couldn’t just leave the girl like that. Cal had no idea how to explain himself; he was very mad at the person, who leaked those photos. Calum obviously didn’t know that someone was taking pictures of him, otherwise he’d be more careful. However, at that particular moment the guy didn’t care as much about the photos going public, – after all, it was only a matter of time when they’d be all over the Internet – as about his relationship with Y/N. Calum knew he messed up, but it didn’t mean he couldn’t fix it.
The way home was accompanied by silence. Y/N had a lot to process. She couldn’t forgive him cheating, and even though the answer was obvious, everything wasn’t as simple as the girl hoped. Despite a clear disappointment in their relationship and even some hate towards Cal, she still loved him. Y/N couldn’t imagine her life without him. The girl thought everything was alright between them. Was is it all really a lie? Was it her fault? Why was Cal seeking a company of someone else?..
By the end of the ride she was so tired of her own thoughts that all what Y/N wanted was to go to bed and wake up happy again. The girl knew it was doubtfully possible to hide from the bitter reality, but she was not ready for another drama that evening.
However, when Y/N went to their bedroom, Calum was not planning to leave it like that.
"Just an hour ago you wanted to talk, so let’s talk," he chuckled, watching Y/N taking off her heels and going to bed. "We aren’t going to bed until we talk about it," Cal said though his teeth, feeling a wave of anger spreading all over his body.
"I don’t have powers to talk about it anymore," the girl replied calmly, covering herself with a blanket. "You should be happy, you’ll have more time to come up with an excuse," she smiled sadly.
"Y/N, I didn’t cheat on you. And I’m not seeing anyone but you," Cal said coldly, taking a seat on the edge of their bed, so he could look in the girl’s eyes. "I swear to you. I love you."
"Then who is it?" Y/N echoed. She wanted to believe Calum, she desperately wanted to believe him, but he wasn’t making it particularly easy. "Are you saying those photos were fake? A photoshop? At the days when you were coming home late because you had night photoshoots with a band? You know, I trusted you, I didn’t even have any doubts, didn’t have a thought to call guys and ask if it was true. I trusted you," Y/N repeated. The tears were stuck somewhere, and the eyes were still dry. She felt simply empty.
"The photos are real," Calum admitted, as there was no point to lie anymore. "But those meeting weren’t dates."
"Give me your phone," Y/N whispered, realising the guy didn’t confirm that he had night shooting sessions with the band. Because he didn’t have them, apparently.
"I can’t…" he whispered back, not looking at her anymore.
"Calum," the girl swallowed, staring at Cal, who seemed like a lost kitten. "Give me your phone," her voice trembled, but she insisted.
The guy looked up and slowly took the phone out from a pocket of his jacket. He hesitated, but Y/N snatched it from his palm immediately.
"Why can’t you just believe me?" the musician chuckled sadly, watching her entering the password – it was her birthday. The password on her phone was his birthday, they did it as a joke, but both kept it in the end.
"Would you believe me?" Y/N asked, opening chats and scrolling his messages, trying to find a familiar face. Cal had a weird obsession with having profile pictures for all his contacts. Funny, but the girl even hoped that the contact she was looking for wouldn’t be there or would remain without a picture. However, Y/N didn’t even need to scroll that far to see an image of that ginger girl.
Opening chat, Y/N saw some photos the stranger was sending Calum. They were sketches of a ring. There were different kinds, Cal’s replies were mostly short as "I like the first variant better" and "can we try it with a blue stone?". They discussed time of their meetings, and Cal would apologise they’d have to meet that late again, explaining it with his crazy working schedule and "too smart girlfriend".
"What is it?" Y/N whispered and looked up at Calum. The guy didn’t move from his place and was watching her every move, while she was reading the messages and checking the photos.
"How do you think?" Cal asked, and it was his time to be disappointed. He wanted it to be a surprise. "That girl is a jewellery designer," he took his phone back roughly, switching off the screen. "I couldn’t find anything in stores, so I contacted someone I knew . We met just few times, and only because I needed to see work in progress with my own eyes. It’s not that easy just by a picture or a sketch, you know," the guy sighed and stood up.
"Calum," Y/N sobbed, feeling like an idiot. She was blaming herself at that moment, however, the reaction the girl had before was rather understandable, too; besides, Cal couldn’t normally explain himself. But how could he? Again, he wanted it to be a surprise.
"I’ll sleep in a couch today, I guess," the musician chuckled sadly, putting the phone back to his pocket. Calum was staring at Y/N’s face, knowing that it wasn’t just her fault, but both of them. And that idiot, who leaked the photos at first place.
"Look, I’m sorry, I thought––"
"I know," Cal interrupted. "But next time trust me what I say."
Y/N jumped off the bed and brushed tears from the face, once Calum left the room.
"Trust you?" she outraged, getting mad that the guy behaved that way. Sure, Y/N messed up, too, but she had her reasons. "You’d react completely the same way if you were on my place, Calum!" the girl caught his hand, so Cal turned around. "It’s not fair. I apologised, I know you wanted to make a surprise, and it’s… it’s such a wonderful surprise, but you can’t tell it’s my fault only! I didn’t believe at first, but what could I do?"
"I know," Cal sighed, cooling off rather quickly, and pressed the girl against his body, cuddling Y/N softly. "I’m sorry," he closed the eyes for a moment. "I just got so upset that my surprise was ruined. It was such a long journey, and you found out like that. Accusing me as well," the guy left a short kiss on her soft cheek. "I love you. Y/N. I’d never cheat on you. You do realise I want you to be my wife?" Calum chuckled, and the smile was sincere.
"Now I do," the girl smiled a bit, still feeling a bit sad that she reacted like that and ruined the surprise. "I love you, too, Calum," the girl said and stood on her toes to kiss the musician on his lips.
"Does it mean you’ll marry me?" he asked through the kiss.
"It does," she cuddled Cal’s neck, once he took her on his arms.
"Y/N Hood, sounds good, huh?" The guys touched her nose with his and then laughed all of a sudden.
"Hey, what are you laughing at?"
"I’m just thinking that this could happen only to us, really," Cal sighed, smiling, and kissed Y/N again. "You know, I gotta admit, you’re extremely hot, when you’re angry. Even though you behaved like a brat."
"Uh, only I did?" the girl squinted, so the musician hurried up to apologise with a short kiss on her neck.
Apparently, that evening they both would never forget for several reasons.

Summary: It's the first time ever when Calum and Y/N didn't need to be apart, as they were going on tour together. However, things could never just be perfect, could they?
Warning: angst, fluff, a bit of cursing
Word Count: 1 725
Requested: yes
Author’s Note: This was the one I worked really hard to make it softer than it initially was. It'd say it's more of an angst story still, however, not too heavy, and there are sweet moments, too ♡ Inspired by Taylor Swift's short film "All Too Well". I hope you'll like it!
It almost felt like Christmas, when Y/N and Calum took a seat next to each other in the plane. It was the first time when the girl was going on tour with him, and both were very excited.
Cal was really glad they finally managed to go together, they didn’t need to be separated for so long again.
Y/N could compare it with a miracle, truly. The last month was very stressful, as she had to do a lot at work before getting a remote project. At some point Y/N even doubted she was going to finish everything in time. However, there she was, holding a hand in Calum’s, while he was quietly sleeping on her shoulder. There was no need to be homesick, because Cal’s home was right next to him. And Y/N didn’t need to learn how to live alone again, because she was in the company of a loved one.
Sometimes “too perfect” could bring unexpected problems. It couldn’t all go smoothly. The musician wasn’t exactly a pessimist, but he always agreed with that way of Y/N’s thinking.
However, Calum didn’t exactly expect his girl to blow up easily only because he didn’t pay much of attention to her after a concert. For Cal it wasn’t a big deal. Once they finished the performance, everyone went to have dinner in their dressing room, not being able to wait for any longer and go to some restaurant nearby. It was a usual evening, chatting with the bandmates and discussing how good the concert was. Y/N was happy that fans were welcoming and active during the whole show, and of course, she could share the joy of her boyfriend, but it still felt slightly uncomfortable. Even though they started dating a while ago, Y/N didn’t know Calum’s friends well. She surely didn’t mind him spending time with them, but the girl hoped for some little reassurance here and there; after all, it was the first time, when she went on tour. Few attempts to join the conversation were interrupted by her own boyfriend, and Y/N’s mood went down completely. Yet, she stayed polite and kept smiling lightly, ignoring unpleasant feelings inside. The girl didn’t ask for much, she only hoped Cal would stop making her feel that dumb, would stop as if reminding her that she didn’t belong there. As if she wasn’t there at all, even when Y/N tried to touch Calum’s palm. She wasn’t begging for attention, the girl only thought that as she came with him, they’d spend more time together. Wasn’t it the point? All of sudden Y/N felt like a mannequin which Cal would look at only when he needed it.
“You just walked in the room and behaved as if I wasn’t there!”
Y/N tried. She really tired. The girl promised herself she wouldn’t make a scene, she wouldn’t argue, because it was a very wrong place and time. However, Calum brought up the topic himself, saying she was “hell annoying” and looked “weirdly upset.”
“I was fucking tired! Exhausted, Y/N! I didn’t mean anything, I was just hanging out with my friends!” Cal blew up immediately, although by nature he was pretty calm. “I’d look at you if you’d jump around, sing for few hours, Y/N. Would you have powers for anything else after it?” the guy run a hand through his hair and sighed heavily, apparently analysing what he had just said.
Calum used to say he valued words a lot, the musician hated when people would tell things they didn’t actually mean. He never rushed up to answer on the interviews; Cal liked to think first, before saying anything, completely anything. Perhaps, that’s why sudden accusations shocked Y/N that much. If he said it, he probably really meant it, and that was quite upsetting. The girl never even dared to think that Calum wasn’t a hard worker or that his job wasn’t difficult. Of course, it was, and she knew it very well. That’s why Y/N was always there, supporting him no matter what. And yet, she couldn’t get the connection between him acting like a moron during the dinner and blaming her for saying he wasn’t tired. She never even said it.
“You know what? Back off," after a short pause Y/N realised that she was too overwhelmed to continue arguing. These past days were rather exhausting, the trip, so far, was very stressful as there were too many unknown faces, and Cal’s words didn’t exactly make the girl feel any better.
“Y/N…”
“No, Cal, you’re right," she nodded, being dangerously calm.
The girl grabbed a bag and threw a phone in there. Y/N wasn’t going to leave, it’d be too immature of her, but she desperately needed fresh air and time alone at that moment. Lately it was getting harder to breathe, and she finally admitted that she was simply choking. Being busy with tour and job issues the girl didn’t have time to check on herself. For some reason, Calum didn’t see it either, apparently, he was busy working, as well. She knew how it could be, so the girl wasn’t blaming him. At times Cal couldn’t take care even of himself.
"How would I know? You’re the only one who works hard," Y/N snapped, regretting she took that hell of a project at first place just to be closer to Cal. What for? Surely, emotions were speaking at that moment, and sometimes it was very hard to gain control of them. Suddenly nothing was working anymore, their relationship included.
“I didn’t mean it this way," Calum’s voice became small, too. He gently touched the girl’s wrist with his fingers, and felt a little relief, as Y/N didn’t attempt to break the touch. However, her eyes didn’t give him any hope.
“No, you did.”
“No, I didn’t," he hurried up to deny. "Look, I’m just stressed, I swear I…" her hand slipped through his fingers, and Y/N headed to the exit of the dressing room. "I know you’re… Y/N, c’mon! Don’t do this right now!" Cal outraged. "We’re trying to talk, and you’re running away again!"
"It’s you, who is trying to talk, Calum!" the girl turned around quickly, hoping her body wouldn't betray, and salty tears wouldn’t flow down the cheeks. "You can’t even understand me! I worked as hard as you to get here at first place! I don’t mind you hang out with friends and have a rest after the concerts, but since the day one of the tour you’ve never asked how I was feeling! I don’t even know these people! They are total strangers to me," she finally broke in tears. Cal didn’t dare to touch her and only watched from the distance. "And this evening I only asked for a small reassurance, I wanted to feel that you’re here with me, because I don’t feel damn comfortable here, I need time! And now you make me feel like a total dickhead for asking that, because you are damn tired, because you had a show to perform! Maybe it was a bad idea to come with you at first place. It could have been totally different," she shook the head and looked down, wiping the tears with her fingers quickly.
A storm was attacking inside, Cal wanted to say a lot, but words got stuck in his throat.
"I had no idea," he finally mumbled, feeling rather ashamed. "This tour… is really important to me," the musician continued, even though everything didn’t seem to have any sense once he spoke it out loud. "I was too focused on work, but it doesn’t mean I forgot about you, Y/N," Cal made a step forward and reached out to her uncertainly. The fingertips didn’t touch hers, he was waiting for the girl to do it instead, if she wanted to. Or waiting to give him a sign that he was allowed to.
The girl closed the eyes for a moment and shook the head negatively. She touched a handle of the bag to avoid Calum’s sudden affection.
"I know it’s hard for both of us," she spoke up quietly. "But we need to learn how to understand each other, and I’m tired of being the only one who is trying to do that. Relationships don’t work this way."
"I know. I fucking know," he lost it, made a step forward and squeezed Y/N in his arms, resting a head on her shoulder. For that Cal had to bend down a little, but it was worth it. "I’m sorry."
A heavy sigh left Y/N’s lips. She looked up on the ceiling, hoping to stop herself from crying again. Just some time ago Calum was behaving like a sick superstar, and now he was asking for forgiveness. Why was it always like a seesaw with him? And why did she still love him?
The girl closed the eyes and tilted her head to touch the top of his with a tip of a nose. Cal smelled with berries – a shampoo she bought him few days before the very first tour. Since that time she was always doing it, and Calum was always taking the black jar with blueberries on the cover with him. Funny, that smell reminded him of her. And to Y/N that smell reminded her of them. Them, being together, happy, in love.
"I love you," she whispered, feeling that sudden wave of affection after a long day and bitter argument that left a small but still a wound on the heart.
"I love you more," he whispered back and hid the face in a crotch of her neck, leaving then a short kiss on her skin.
The touch was too familiar to give up on everything they went through. Calum knew he needed to keep in mind that the tour was going to be be different, as his girl was there. He needed to give Y/N time, as it wasn’t normal for her as for him, who has been performing since a young age.
"I know I didn’t give you the best tour experience so far," Cal whispered in her ear after a long silence. "But, please, let me try again."

Summary: Luke was determined to take Y/N on a night drive. Some things, though, didn't want to go according to his perfect plan.
Warning: friends to lovers, fluff, mentioning of food
Word Count: 1 503
Requested: yes
Author’s Note: Honestly I enjoyed writing it so much, it gave me some sense of comfort, and I really hope you'll feel it as well once you read it ♡ Also, yes, I am obsessed with Luke's blue eyes, you can't take it from me...
A calm evening was interrupted by a sudden knock on the door. Y/N lazily got up from a couch and wandered into the hall, feeling tiredness with her whole body. Someone celebrated Fridays with friends in local bars, Y/N, though, preferred to spent it quietly that time. Watching a silly show on Netflix, she’s been wrapping herself up in an old blanket, which was given by her friend Luke few years ago. Maybe – only maybe – it was fair to correct that the poor blanket was actually stolen from him, however, in Y/N’s defence, Luke didn’t use it much anyway, so the girl only borrowed something he never needed.
Possibly, the stolen blanket made the guy to come over uninvited; in any case, once Y/N opened the door, she saw the friend on the threshold of her apartment.
“Let’s go,” without a proper greeting, Luke grabbed Y/N’s hand and dragged her out of the house.
“Where?” the girl stumbled, trying her best to stay where she was. Y/N was in her PJs, the hair was carelessly tide up in something close to a ponytail — the look that simply screamed “I’m staying in today”.
“For a drive. I’ll bring you back in few hours,” he promised, sounding both calm and determined.
“I warned you hours ago that I’m not going!” Y/N outraged, ignoring the fact that her friend drove all the way out there. The girl made it clear in her message that even though his adventitious idea sounded nice, she simply did not have any powers left for the trip. The tiredness was the size of the passing week, which fell on her shoulders sharply once Y/N entered home that evening.
“It’s just few hours!” he whined and suddenly lifted the friend from the ground to bring her to the car himself. It was almost ten o’clock in the evening, and Y/N was getting cold.
“Gosh, wait! Let me get changed at least,” the girl rolled the eyes, smiling a bit and still trying to set herself free.
“Five minutes,” Luke warned, and once he put her on the ground, Y/N hurried up inside. She hoped to shut the door in his face, however, the guy foresaw it well, so he managed to slip through the door quicker. A wide smile appeared on his face.
Even though the whole idea of going somewhere so late didn’t really excite Y/N, once she was in the car, checking all the snacks Luke bought them for the little trip, the girl thought that, perhaps, it was a nice distraction from her exhaustion for an hour or so.
“You didn’t need to change, you looked pretty earlier, too,” Luke spoke up, glancing at Y/N who was chewing gummy worms and time to time placing few in his mouth as well.
“That’s sudden,” the girl chuckled, trying to ignore a quick shutter of her heart. The girl fancied her friend for quite some time, but it was not as scary as dangerous to reveal her feelings. Y/N didn’t want to ruin their friendship. “Be honest, you just wanted me to get sick. I was freezing cold, by the way!”
“Well, if you didn’t hesitate for so long, you would be in the car a while ago, enjoying my company and food.”
“Thank you for mentioning food, I’d put it on the first place, though,” Y/N laughed shortly, looking at the window. Even though it was late, the lights were illuminating the road, and quite soon she started to see untouched fields, passing by. “Also, I wasn’t hesitant, I told you right away I wasn’t going.”
“Here you are with an urge to reply on everything,” Luke rolled his eyes jokingly and glanced at Y/N again. He liked how cozy and comfortable she looked at that moment. It was actually rather precious to know that a person he cared about so much trusted him, fully.
“You are the same,” the girl reminded and, giggling, put another gummy worm, a blue one, in his mouth. “Suits your eyes.”
The musician chuckled, barely being able to chew the marmalade.
“A worm?”
“Yeah,” Y/N laughed back and smiled vividly. “I like your eyes,” she mumbled and looked away, feeling too overwhelmed. If only he could be hers, and she could be his…
“So, we have a problem,” Luke announced, when about thirty minutes were left from the final destination. The guy was planning to show Y/N a sunflower field, but GPS suddenly stopped working properly. However, the guy was sure he remembered the way there so didn’t worry too much. Until…
Y/N turned her head towards a friend and frowned a little.
“Are you going to keep holding the dramatic pause or will just tell me?” she smiled, though, not even thinking there could be something serious.
“Yeah, well,” Luke hesitated and glanced at a dashboard of the car. He still couldn’t believe what he saw. “Apparently, I forgot to refuel and noticed only now…”
“You are joking,” Y/N raised up in a seat to check it herself. “How could you forget?”
“I don’t know!” Luke outraged, slowing down the speed of the car. “I was in a hurry cause I wanted to make a good surprise for you!”
“Well, it is a good surprise after all, Luke!” Y/N giggled, not being mad for some reason. “Let me find the closest gas station,” she mumbled and opened her phone to check a map. The girl didn’t hear how her friend mumbled quietly “go for it”, as he already knew that GPS stopped working twenty minutes ago.
“Okay, so… we’re in the middle of nowhere,” she announced dramatically, zooming in and out on the map. “It doesn’t work. How much gas is left? Maybe we should go back,” Y/N sighed, once Luke stopped the car on the side of the road. He was upset. “Hey, that’s alright,” the girl smiled and unfastened her seat belt to sit sideways to the windshield, facing the musician. The girl gently placed her palms on his cheeks and nodded. “I’m not mad, it’s still a fun trip. After all, it wouldn’t be us if it didn’t end up like this, don’t you think?” she chuckled kindly.
Luke hurried up to cover her palms with his, being scared she’d break the touch too soon.
“We still can stay here for some time? Before going back?” he suggested carefully.
Y/N nodded, feeling the pulsation of her heartbeat almost in a throat. If only she could kiss him, and he could kiss her…
“Y/N,” Luke spoke up, and the voice was hoarse.
“Yeah?”
“I… I guess there is something I needed to tell you,” he started, immediately regretting it, though. How was he supposed to tell her that? Was it a bad timing? It probably was. There was no where to go, and if… if Y/N didn’t feel the same way it’d be hell awkward. He really didn’t think it through…
“Again?”
“What?”
“You need to tell me something else? I thought we’re done with surprises,” she giggled, fooling around a bit, as Y/N could see how anxious Luke started to look all of a sudden.
“Oh, no, that’s the main surprise, I guess,” the guy chuckled and looked down only for a moment. The fear took him over, though, and he rested his palms on the knees, so Y/N pulled away from him. “No, actually, forget about it.”
“No.”
Luke looked up at the friend, being surprised.
“What do you mean “no"?…”
“That’s exactly what I mean. I waited for too long to allow you to step back once again,” Y/N shook her head, getting annoyed. Why was he so uncertain sometimes? She was sitting there, next to him, worrying that her heart would break the chest, and he couldn’t say few simple words?… “Would you finally acknowledge my feelings for you if I kiss you right now? You’re so bad at taking hints! How can you keep doubting if I feel the same way you do?”
“How do you– How do you know?…” Luke mumbled, staring at Y/N. The guy couldn’t hide his terror. So she knew? All that time?!
“Honestly, it seems like it’s only you who is blind here,” the girl smiled sadly and looked down, feeling ridiculous.
Another second, though, she felt Luke’s hand on the chin. He carefully lifted her face so the girl could look at him before he covered Y/N’s lips with his. The kiss was tender and gentle, slowly changing into a more passionate one. They both just couldn’t believe it took them that long to confess. And honestly, who knew how long it’d have still taken if Y/N had kept silence.
“I’ll make it up to you,” he whispered, touching her forehead with his.
“You already did,” the girl whispered back and, smiling, pressed the lips against his in another kiss.

Summary: The winter holidays were simply the best for both Calum and Y/N, especially when a heating problem in their house occurred.
Warning: fluff, friends to lovers
Word Count: 2 208
Author’s Note: Who knew it’d be so hard for me to write fluff! But I really wanted to come up with something light this time. Hopefully you’ll enjoy it, and the story will make you smile! Requests are open ♡
Winter was quite a magical season. Even if some people weren’t exactly in a celebratory mood, usually it’d change, as Christmas atmosphere was rather contagious. The gatherings could be tedious, but it still felt amazing to share happy moments with the ones you loved, see smiles on their faces and hear glass clinks with bubbly drinks.
That winter was particularly special, as Y/N was spending the holidays with a close group of friends. When she just moved to LA, the girl didn’t really know anyone, but with time she befriended four amazing guys who honestly changed her life for good. Y/N was introduced to Michael by their mutual friend, and since then they started to hang out. Often the guys would go touring, and they’d miss each other desperately, that’s why holidays together seemed like something very sweet, almost exceptional.
Through the half of the past year Y/N got to know the guys better, and maybe deep down she wanted one of them to be more than a friend. Things were complicated, though, with work and simply them being public figures it wasn’t easy, and often, coming back to such thoughts, Y/N was realizing it was safer to leave everything how it was. Secretly, however, she hoped for Calum to make a move on Christmas Eve, but it didn’t happen. It didn’t happen on New Year Eve either, and then just five days were left before them going back to LA.
Sometimes, when it was getting lonely at night, Y/N would consider to open up her feelings, but in the morning the idea seemed rather ridiculous and maybe unnecessary. Calum had never really crossed any friend boundaries, they’d flirt sometimes, jokingly, and that was it. Y/N didn’t want to ruin their relationship and, honestly, that what really mattered. She couldn’t imagine not talking to Cal after a wrong move. She couldn’t tell if the feelings were mutual.
The house they all stayed in was truly beautiful. Soft yellow lights of different kind of installations were illuminating the yard and making the mood even more festive. Y/N was sure if that place was participating in Christmas competition, it’d definitely get its prize.
Everything seemed perfect until a heating problem in the house occurred. It wasn’t that bad during a day, but as Y/N wished everyone a good night and came to her room, she realized she was simply freezing. Naturally, the temperature was dropping at night, but that knowledge wasn’t really helping.
The girl changed into sweatpants and a sweater and got under the cold sheets of her bed. She was trying to remind herself that it would get better eventually, but it was still hard to fall asleep, so Y/N turned back on the night lamp and glued to her phone. Getting used to the cold a little bit, the girl was debating whether she needed to try to fall asleep again or to go downstairs and make tea. The second option didn’t seem smart, as she didn’t want to wake anyone up or to go to a toilet in the middle of the night later. Silly thoughts were running through her head, when someone knocked the door carefully.
The girl froze with her phone in hands and frowned a little, staring at the door and trying to figure out who it could be.
“Y/N? Are you sleeping?” she heard a whisper, and the girl hurried up to leave her mobile on a bedside table and open the door.
In front of her was standing sleepy, wrapped in a blanket, Calum, holding a pillow.
“Hey. Can I sleep with you tonight?” he wrinkled his nose a little, thinking how to bring the news smoothly. “Just… my neighbors…”
“Noisy?” Y/N chucked and let Cal to come in. Everyone was coping with the cold in their own way, it seemed.
“You don’t even wanna know,” the guy sighed heavily and looked around. “You were awake?”
“Yeah, can’t fall asleep,” she said honestly, closing the door and going back to bed, moving her blanket to the left side, so Calum could lie normally next to her. “So cold.”
“I know,” he whispered and lied down. “Here,” Calum suggested his blanket. “We can share.”
Y/N smiled shortly and suggested hers, too, so they could use both.
Cal moved closer, and they almost hid each other under the sheets. Y/N turned off the light, feeling much warmer right away.
“You weren’t sleeping, too, or they woke you up?” she asked, nuzzling his shoulder as she was lying on a side, facing him. Calum’s hand was resting on the girl’s back, but he wasn’t allowing himself to lower it down. They were extremely close to each other, and Y/N trusted him, so he wasn’t planning to change that. After all, he was a gentleman, even though could be a naughty one at times, too.
“No. I couldn’t fall asleep at all,” the guy mumbled and smirked, when heard Y/N’s quiet laugh. “What’s so funny?!”
“You just said it with such an offensive manner, like a baby,” the girl kept giggling.
“A baby?! Did you just call me a baby?!” Cal jokingly outraged and pulled away a bit to see Y/N’s face. “You are just lucky your neighbors aren’t going crazy in there, alright?”
“Don’t be jealous, Cal,” she kept teasing him. “They are in love and want to be closer.”
“Woah, since when are you so romantic?” he giggled back. “The cold really did something with your brain,” Calum sighed and lied on his back, staring at the ceiling.
“Rude!” Y/N pushed him in the shoulder jokingly and smirked, still smiling though.
“Don’t say that, I’ll take back my blanket.”
“You are aware that I’m going to do the same then, right? And you’ll die from cold.”
“So annoying,” he sighed heavily, smiling.
“I mean, you still can come back to your bedroom.”
“No, thank you,” Cal smiled wider and all of a sudden pulled Y/N closer to him, squeezing tight. “Good night?” he asked and then just couldn’t help but tickle the girl a little.
“Don’t you dare!” she gasped and giggled. “Good night, Calum. Now you can sleep peacefully.”
“Ha-ha,” the musician smirked and touched her forehead with a nose. Maybe he was even little glad it was that cold, so he could use that as an excuse to be closer to Y/N…
The next morning, though, the girl woke up alone. For a moment she even thought it was just a dream, but then Y/N realized she was still covered with two blankets, hugging a pillow next to her. Lying in bed for a little longer, the girl checked time — it was surprisingly early — and left the bedroom. Going downstairs, she noticed Cal on the kitchen, making… pancakes. An open floor plan of the house helped Calum to notice Y/N even before she fully went down the stairs.
“Nope! Go back to bed!” he ordered in a funny way, whispering.
“What?!” the girl whispered back. “Why?”
“Because. I’m making us breakfast in bed, it’s not going to happen if you aren’t in bed, Y/N.”
The girl smirked. Well, he was speaking the truth there.
“Since when are you making pancakes or breakfast in bed, Calum?”
“You want to eat or not?”
Y/N chuckled and run back upstairs, smiling. Calum’s behavior was slightly surprising, as he had told her before he hated cooking at first place, but oh well, seemed like cold didn’t freeze only her brain after all…
Honestly, though, Y/N didn’t mind to come back to bed, as it was still early and everyone was asleep, besides it was much warmer under the sheets.
In ten minutes, she heard a knock on the door and then Cal appeared.
“So, I followed the recipe on the Internet, it should be good,” he promised and put a tray with two plates of pancakes, jam and cups of coffee on bed.
“Woah, Calum. You’re a real chief,” she smiled and set on the bed. “Careful,” Y/N warned. It’d be a disaster if they flip the tray by accident, even though a rather expected one for both of them. The girl was clumsy, and Cal was making an excuse that he got that habit just after her.
“Yeah, careful, Y/N,” Calum smirked, shamelessly teasing the friend. The friend… that made Cal to think for a moment, so the girl noticed the change on his face.
Sometimes Calum felt like an idiot. He wasn’t a talkative guy, but he never found it difficult to communicate with people. He had good friends, had been in romantic relationships, some of which were truly nice and some were so bad that it made him reconsider the idea of being in love. In any case, no matter how hard it was, he never felt so little in the world like with her. And it wasn’t something negative, it just was extremely different. Cal could be himself around Y/N, could be quiet, could be funny and silly, it didn’t matter, she’d answer him with the same warm smile. And yet, when he tried to make a move – or at least he hoped it was obvious – he was getting lost. He was getting almost shy. Sometimes the guy wanted to sigh loudly and ask directly, outraged, what she was doing to him, why she was turning his head upside down every time they’d make eye contact with each other.
“Why such a long face? I mean, I know you like apricot jam better, but strawberry isn’t that bad,” Y/N joked, trying to come Calum to his senses. She wondered what he was thinking about, but didn’t want to push him.
Cal only chuckled and looked at Y/N with his warm brown eyes.
“I mean, I just really like apricot jam,” he smiled and finally tried the pancakes. Y/N was already eating.
“It’s not bad, Calum, I like strawberries, just try it,” the girl giggled, remembering how at the very first day of their arrival he had made a whole drama show about wrong jam on a shelf and how delivery had messed up. No doubts he had sent a one-star review after that.
“It’s not bad, it’s just not better,” Cal joked back, being still partly not there but in his thoughts. The guy dipped the pancake into the sweet jam and brought it to his mouth. Another second and the jam was on the sheets…
“Damn it!”
Y/N just burst into laughter.
“Didn’t I tell you to be careful?” she teased him, being even proud that it was him who messed up first.
“Better help me, huh!” Calum giggled and took few napkins to clean the fabric, but it wasn’t really helping, and his fingers became sticky.
The girl kept laughing quietly, apparently enjoying Cal’s frustration. If she only knew he messed up because of her!
“It’s your fault, by the way,” he mumbled.
“How come it’s my fault?!” Y/N outraged jokingly.
“Because,” he sighed and threw away the napkin, then focused the eyes on hers. It was the time, otherwise he’d just go crazy. “You smile, and I can’t even hear my own thoughts. Everything becomes vivid. Each time I tried to get it right… all I could say was some stupid joke, which you’d laugh at anyway, and I’d lose again a chance to try it one more time to… to make myself clear.”
“Calum, what are you talking about?” Y/N smiled shortly, feeling like her heart started to beat faster all of a sudden.
“I’m talking about… feelings. Feelings I’m having for you, Y/N. And I know it’s the most ridiculous moment to tell the truth, but if I don’t do it now, I won’t do it at all. I’ve never considered myself a coward, and yet here I am…” he looked down. The girl was silently listening Cal. “I really like you, Y/N,” he sighed heavily as if it was physically hard to say those words. “And I know we are friends, and I totally get if you… Well, if you say I’m just imagining things, but–“
“You are not imagining,” Y/N interrupted Calum, seeing how much he was struggling to find the right words, not to scare her away. The girl put the tray on the bedside table and turned back to the musician. He wasn’t looking anywhere but her. “You are not imagining,” she repeated. “I like you, too, Cal. I was thinking to tell you that but didn’t want…”
“To ruin the friendship,” he smiled a bit, finishing her sentence.
“Yeah,” the girl nodded.
“Do you think then we can just build something next to it, rather than ruining anything entirely?” he asked. Calum was always a master of words, and Y/N only chuckled, smiling happily.
“I like that.”
“I like that, too,” Cal smiled and hesitated only for a second before covering the girl’s lips with his. The kiss was careful, but full of feelings they were hiding from each other for a while. Only when there was no air left to breathe, they pulled away, and Calum looked at Y/N’s eyes. It still gave him butterflies. “You’re right, the strawberry jam is actually quite tasty,” he smiled wider, and the girl just covered his plum lips with hers once again.

Summary: It had been four months of silence between Calum and Y/N. Could she finally move on?
Warning: angst
Word Count: 1 496
Requested: yes
Author’s Note: I had two files for this work, and one of it had a name "experimental". I chose that variant in the end, so I really-really hope you'll like it. It's very new for me, the storytelling might be quite unusual at first. Remember that feedback helps me a lot to improve the skills, and it motivates to write more ♡
It was stuffy in a room, as air conditioner stopped working. Y/N had spent much more time trying to fall asleep than actually sleeping; when the clock on a blank white wall showed five-thirty in the morning, the girl realised there was no way she was going to try to fall asleep again.
Opened windows didn’t exactly help to ventilate the flat, however, she saw some thin tree brunches swinging to the left and right, probably, begging angry clouds to finally release the rain.
Afterwards it usually smelled fresh, felt almost like a sudden beginning of a new life chapter, and Y/N, some other day, would love to simply wrap up in a blanket and listen to the sound of heavy drops hitting the glass. That exact day, though, the girl needed to leave home in the early afternoon for a job interview she didn’t even want to have, and Y/N hoped to get there at least dry.
It had been four months of silence between her and a person she loved so much, yet, the heaviness in the heart remained the same. Y/N wondered what it was exactly about, and how she supposed to forget the guy, when everything kept reminding of Him. Every little detail in the apartment would echo with a memory of them that did not exist any longer. A stupid ukulele He left in the corner of the living room, behind a beige pot with a plant they bought together. Everything was as if staring at her, making fun of her. Y/N was, probably, going crazy. It had been four months, and she wondered if her insanity could get any worse. The girl missed Him, their night calls. She missed that naive feeling of being in love. She missed the feeling of being full, as the girl started to feel empty again.
Y/N knew that she needed to do something about it, to stop thinking about the past and finally move on. Probably, change something in her life, too. Like changing a job to the one she didn’t want either.
Apparently, the universe didn’t want her to get that job, too, and since the sleepy morning Y/N only kept realising that the day was not going to be easy. A burnt tongue, when she was drinking coffee – the colour of His eyes, just like she burnt her heart when allowed herself to fall in love with Him. When He made her feel like it was a safe thing to do. Silly…
A broken cup, the one He used to leave cigarette ashes in, it would get under her skin so much. Y/N tried to fix it, just like their relationship four months ago, but some things had to remain broken. A missed bus, even though she was running after it under the noisy rain, and all in vain. She needed to slow down. She desperately needed it.
Y/N took a seat on a wet bench next to the bus stop and sobbed, feeling like time has as if stopped. Or maybe it was her heart, she couldn’t recognise the beat of, once He wasn’t a part of her life any longer. Her social anxiety opened the arms for a dark and tight hug in the most inconvenient moment, and Y/N simply froze, feeling that sudden fear, covering her from top to bottom.
“I’m sorry… Are you alright?”
A voice, calm and soft, called for her, and Y/N turned the head to the side to see a familiar face. The rain stopped, and it wasn’t gloomy anymore. A guy with rounded face, dark-chocolate eyes, plump lips and short hair was looking at her attentively. He was wearing light pants and a baggy shirt; despite the recent rain, it was still hot outside. The cheeks were slightly red, and she wished to leave a small kiss on His skin.
“Yeah,” Y/N mumbled a classic reply, but didn’t expect it to come out so quietly and dramatically. The guy even chuckled, probably, thinking that she was a bad liar.
“I know it’s maybe not my business, but I just don’t think ‘it’s alright’ if you can’t hold your tears and crying next to a bus stop. And it’s also raining,” He looked up at the sky. “Quite depressing.”
“Then why did you ask if I was alright at first place?” Y/N snapped and wiped the tears from her cheeks. “Just don’t look at me if it’s so depressing," she glanced at the sky, and all she could see were pearl fluffy clouds.
“I thought it’d be weird if I’d ask ‘are you not alright?’,” He noticed and smiled at Y/N shortly. “Hey, whatever it is… It’s all temporary.”
The girl closed the eyes and gave herself a moment, before whispering quietly,
"No, it’s not."
She opened the eyes just to see Him dissolving in the air.
"Please, don’t go," Y/N could only beg, yet, the imagination let her down once again, and she couldn’t hold on to that memory anymore.
Their first meeting was not romantic, however, it was special. Calum was the only one of the passers-by who approached the girl, seeing she was having something close to a panic attack. He wasn’t there any longer, but even in her head the guy took a seat next to her to comfort. She fell in love with his moles on the right cheek first. He was holding her hand in His, asking to breathe slowly, and all Y/N could see at that time was His eyes, maybe little too kind for the world.
Too bad their fairytale was over, and there was no happy ending. Y/N needed to stop living with Him in her head, but Calum still was her safe place. Even if good memories brought the pain as a companion every time she thought of Him.
It wasn’t sunny in the head any longer, Y/N realised it was still raining like crazy. The girl was late for the job interview, but the were no regrets. In fact, she wasn’t sure what was feeling at first place, as when He left, He took all her feelings with Him.
Y/N lazily stood up from the bench, and legs slowly carried her to a coffee shop nearby, where Calum bought her latte that day. She was crying so much, even an almond syrup couldn’t help to make the drink less salty. Maybe it was even quite embarrassing, yet He made her feel safe.
"You know… Maybe it was all a lie. Maybe I just imagined Him," Y/N whispered quietly, making a sip from the cardboard cup and staring at the lacquered table. "Just like I am imagining you now…"
He was sitting next to her, having the same as she was. His free hand was placed on hers, when Calum sighed heavily and shook the head.
"Did you love him that much?" the guy asked, the voice was soft and simply pleasant to her ears.
"Yes," Y/N’s whisper left her lips almost right away. The girl had no powers left to correct Calum and say that she still loved Him, no matter how painful it was.
"Did he love you?" He asked, squeezing her fingers with his.
"Sometimes," the girl whispered back, remembering their sleepless nights and arguments, and small trips to nowhere, and tears, and laughter, and screams.
It was exhausting. Their relationship was exhausting, He said once. She thought it was alright. She thought she was fine, navigating in a fog of Calum’s constant mood swings and small irritations here and there. Y/N thought she could save them, she was ready to sacrifice her life for that relationship, but in the end all what she needed was to take care of herself.
"I have to let you go," she mumbled, still squeezing the guy’s hand in hers. "I really need to," Y/N tried to memorize the touch of His hand. The softens of his skin on hers.
"Stay for a little longer?" He asked the same thing she blurted out four months ago, standing in an empty hall next to Calum and looking at him with red, fully of tears, eyes.
"I’m sorry, I have to," she whispered his reply and broke the touch of their hands.
The rain was beating against the windows deafeningly. Her coffee was cold and suddenly too sweet to her taste. She was resting palms on the table, and it was quiet in the head. Finally no thoughts were bothering her mind. It was still dark and scary in times, yet, she could see the light somewhere in the end of her path. Or was it a beginning?
She made her last sip and stood up, rushing to leave the coffee shop. Maybe in another life they could meet again. But for now… she needed to finish that chapter and finally start a new one.
