   Was the thing that they had, called love? He isn’t entirely sure. There certainly was something but neither of them had ever gone so far as to express affection, not outright. There’s always been question towards just why Jaren stuck around him, tolerated his volatile presence. Perhaps it was some sense of duty, to be given not only a second but third chance at life, maybe he was there to do nothing more but keep the monster’s attention away from everyone else. 

   Hah, what a cruel thing, but that might very well be the point. For what else did the man have to do? Near everyone else he had known was well enough dead and in no small part by Yor’s own violence. He cannot even begin to understand what else might push him so hard. Jaren himself had said that he was not going to forgive what had happened.
