Everyone was excited as they were preparing for their Fever Part 3 promotions even though they just released their Japanese single and the Seasons Song with Kim Jongkook. Today, they were in a cafe that the company rented for their fan call event.
While waiting for the event to start, Minyoung was taking photos with the members to post later their account while the others chatted away.
Jongho: Young-ah, manager-hyung said to give this to you *hands a tumbler*

This update was supposed to be set around Wonderwall but then I remembered I wanted to set Minyoung’s hair color change to be for Dreamers to Deja Vu promotions I solicited questions before and I think this was all the questions I got? You couldn't help but let out a sigh as you stared at the podium in front of you. The headmaster has slipped into his speech regarding the school's glorious history as he would call it. You have lost count how many times you've heard the founding story and all the achievements of the graduates had as soon as they're working in society.
Looking around, there was only a handful students that were still listening to his speech. Most of the students were either dozing off, discreetly scrolling through the phones, or chatting in hushed voices with their friends.
You immediately tuned his speech off and felt your phone vibrate in your pocket. You took it out and saw that you received a message from your friend, Jongho.
>Jongho: You look grumpy. Hungry?
Scoffing a bit, you looked up and saw him looking at you with a grin. You hurriedly typed back your reply with a shake of your head.
>Y/N: I am so you better be careful that I don't mistake you for food and bite you.
>Y/N: Do we really have to listen to this story over and over again when we're busy as it is for the festival?
>Jongho: He'll be done in 5 minutes. I already memorized how long it takes for him to retell the story.
>Jongho: Do you want to grab food before we head back to class?
>Y/N: Are you suggesting we skip classes?
>Jongho: Did you forget? Mr. Kim isn't going to be around today. We have free study instead.
>Y/N: Oh. I didn't forgot. Sure if you're buying!

Jongho should already be used to you throwing words like 'I like you' at him but it still surprises him every time evidenced by the rapid beating of his heart. He lets out a sigh knowing you didn't mean anything special by it. He has known you since kindergarten after all and you were the type of person who is naturally affectionate to people. His head knows that it just comes naturally for you but his heart speeds up with the hope you also share the same sentiments as he does for you.
"What you still haven't told them?" a chuckle was heard from his side making Jongho look up.
"Man, either Y/N is really oblivious or they already have someone else in mind. I guess you've been around each other so much that it's become a natural to be around together." Wooyoung laughed as he looked at his friend.
"Leave me alone." Jongho glared at him slightly
"It amuses me how you're like a puppy, loyal to their person. I can't believe it's been this way since Middle School." Wooyoung shrugged, grinning as he nudged and teased the male beside him "So what are you going to do if someone notices Y/N?"
As soon as the words left Wooyoung's mouth, he felt a harsher glare directed at him. He was pretty sure he would have been hit if they weren't supposed to look like they're listening to the speech. He raised his hands in surrender before saying "Hey, I'm not your rival. I'm just stating possibilities. Besides, I'd rather try my luck with the school's no.1 girl than be on your opposing side. I still value my life."
Jongho rolled his eyes before turning his head to look back at your form. Of course he wants you to know his feelings but he's worried that it'll make things awkward for the two of you. He'll definitely regret it if you two grew apart because he harbors romantic feelings but he also knows Wooyoung has a valid point. In fact, he has heard some first years voice voice out their admiration for you. The only thing keeping them from actually doing anything is that they thought you were dating Jongho.
As if feeling a gaze, you looked up and smiled at him. You hurriedly typed in your phone making him look at his.
>Y/N: Do you have time after class?
>Jongho: I don't have club today. Why?
>Y/N: Perfect! Can you come with me to the shopping district? I need to buy the ingredients later for dinner.
>Jongho: Dinner? You can just have dinner with us. I'm sure mom won't mind having you over. She's been asking why'd you haven't visited too.

As soon as the bells signalling the end of class, Jongho hurriedly packed his bag to leave with you. Partly because he doesn't want to spend more time in the classroom but mostly because he doesn't want to bump into Wooyoung in the corridors and earn another round of teasing.
"Jongho, are you ready to go? What are you thinking of?" you asked smiling, waving your hand slightly to gain his attention.
"Oh sure. So mom said she's making kimchi stew tonight since you're coming over." Jongho tried to steer the conversation away.
"Really!? I feel bad visiting out of nowhere like this. We should drop by the bakeshop and maybe I can buy some pastries as a gift." you said excited to eat his mom's cooking after a while. When you were kids, it was a frequent thing for the two of you to suddenly have the other over for dinner but as you both got older, it happened less and less.
As the two of you were about to pass the gates, you heard your name being called."Y/N! Wait!"
Turning around, you saw Seonghwa running towards the both of you. Seonghwa, graduating student this year, was the head of the committee handling the registration of activities for the festival. He was also popular among the students not only for his appearance but for being friendly towards everyone.
As the representative for your class, you have met and talked with Seonghwa a number of times to discuss your class' participation. This is a fact Jongho knows but he was puzzled as to why the said senior is hurrying towards you and calling you on a first-name basis already. Were the two of you close?
"Ah Seonghwa-sunbae. Did you need me for something? Oh no. Is there a problem with the form I submitted?" you asked going over a list in your head.
Seonghwa chuckled as he shook his head. "No. You forgot this in the meeting room last time. Don't worry, I didn't read the contents inside. I just checked if there was a name so I could return it." He said as he handed you a notebook.
Gasping, you hurriedly took it from him with a hint of a blush. "Oh no. Thank you for finding it for me. I didn't even realize I left it behind."
Jongho raised a brow at your reaction. He wasn't sure how to interpret your reddened cheeks. Is this because of the male standing infront of you two or because of the notebook clutched between your arms?
"No worries. Although I'm surprised, I didn't take you as one who'll lose their stuff." Seonghwa chuckled patting your head before looking at Jongho as if finally noticing his presence. "Sorry, I must have been holding you two back. See you at the next meeting Y/N." he said waving before walking back inside the building.
"I didn't know you were close with Park Seonghwa-sunbaenim." Jongho said as if asking why.
"Mhm. I didn't know I'll get along with him either. He's like the idol of our school, you know?" You laughed as you quickly placed the notebook inside your bag.
"What's that?" Jongho asked pointing at your bag. He realizes that it's odd for him to be this curious but he can't help but ask, wanting to gauge if you were crushing on the senior, embarrassed that you left your stuff, or if there's something special in that notebook.
"Nothing special. Just..some things." You answered vaguely as you increased the speed of your walk and changing the topic "Does Aunt still like pastries with almonds? Maybe I should buy almond chocolate cake for her and some strawberry and chocolate slices for the rest."
"She does. You really don't have to buy anything. She's thrilled to have you over." he may not have gotten an answer he wanted but he decided to drop the topic for now and maybe ask you another time.
After dinner, you both went to Jongho's room to work on your homework together. Since you'll be home alone anyway, you figured that you could get more work done with two heads working on the questions. What you didn't expect is for Jongho to constantly look at you as if contemplating something.
"Jongho, what is it? You're going to burn a hole right through me with how you're staring." You asked laughing "if you're going to ask me to let you copy my work then the answer is no. Work on it too!"
"Do you like guys him?" Jongho answered looking at you as he tapped his pen on his notebook
"Like who?" Confused and surprised by the sudden question, you frowned a bit and sat up straight
"Park Seonghwa"
You paused for a moment before answering with a shrug "No? I'd be lying if I say I don't find him attractive but he's not my type, I guess?"
"I didn't think you'd be interested in this kind of talk Jongho." laughing, you leaned on the table placing your elbows on top and propped your chin. "So what brought this about?"
"Nothing. Just asking." Jongho tried to dismiss the topic upon seeing your teasing grin. The last situation he wants now is for you to ask further but knowing you, there's no way you'd let this pass easily.
"No way! You looked like you were contemplating life or death since a while ago and you say it's nothing? There's no way you were just asking if it took you that long to ask me of all people. I'd understand if it was someone else but Jongho, we've known each other for so long!"
He lets out a light groan. You were correct in the sense that if were any other topic, he'd just straight up ask or tell you what was on his mind. But for all the years he has liked you, he hasn't seen any hint of you reciprocating his feelings. You say that you know him well but here you are, oblivious to the burning yet fluttering affection he has towards you.
"Oh! Do you need love advice? Okay who's the lucky person? Spill." you asked trying to sound as nonchalant as possible even if you're dying to know who Jongho likes.
Jongho rolls his eyes before replying "Me ask advice from you? and a love one at that? Where does the confidence come from? For your information, novels and dramas don't count as experience. Unless..do you actually like someone?"
"Hey! You can at least use those as references." pouting a bit as you crossed your arms against your chest, slightly huffing "and of course I like someone. I'm a human with emotions, you know?"
Jongho's eyes went wide for a second before he turned his attention towards his book that he has ignored for quite a while "Enough about this. Let's just finish this homework so I can walk you home already."
Frowning lightly at his sudden change and his tone, you sighed a bit before nodding. "You don't have to walk me home. My house is like a block away from here."
Glancing up a bit to check his expression before mumbling "Also, the person I like is impossible."
Jongho let out a sigh, feeling a bit guilty that you might have taken offense with his words. Although his heart dropped, knowing that you like someone else but he's been your friend for a long time and he guessed that's what he'll always be to you. "Is it impossible because they're already with someone or you just think that it is? Have you tried telling him?"
It is ironic that he is asking if you already confessed when he hasn't gotten the courage to do it himself.
Shaking your head, you hummed a bit as if thinking over your answer "Not yet. But I guess, it doesn't hurt to try and be honest and go for it right?"
"Yeah. Just make sure to confess to him when no one is around, I guess? Unless you want to be the talk of school for the next few weeks." Jongho shrugged, his eyes fixed on the book but the text wasn't registering in his brain.
"Huh? Why would I be the talk of town?" You asked confused
"If people knew you confessed to their idol, regardless of what the answer is, won't they gossip about it?" Jongho explained still not looking at you
Hearing this, you cannot stop the grin that painted your face "Wow. Jongho, I knew you were confident with yourself but-"
"You should do it quick though, they're going to be graduating soon so they'll be busy preparing for their exams. Wait. What did you say?" Jongho whipped his head to look at you suddenly confused
You couldn't hold back the laughter that escaped your lips as you realized what Jongho is talking about. "Silly. Unless you suddenly skipped grades then you're not going to be busy. We have the same workload."
Jongho was trying to form words but no sound came out of his lips, making him look like a gaping fish as he opened and closed them trying to wrap his head around the information. "So you don't like Seonghwa?"
Leaning in and flicking his forehead lightly "No. I told you he isn't my type. I like you, silly."
"But-"
"Oh. If you like someone else then don't worry about me. Just continue treating me as you do." You let out a laugh before continuing "I'll live so don't worry and unless you tell people then no one would gossip like you said."
Jongho suddenly knew that this was his chance to confess and it's probably the only time he'd have this boost of confidence. "I can't continue treating you as a friend though. Not after hearing about your feelings."
Your expression faltered for a second making Jongho panic and wave his hand around frantically "No no. It's not like that. I mean..what I want to say is..I like you. I have been feeling this way since middle school but I didn't want anything to change for the worse."
"Oh." hearing his confession made the two of you blush that would put red apples to a shame.
"Then what are you waiting for? Ask me out already or should I do it?" You bit your lip trying to contain your smile

Today, the groups participating in Kingdom were told that they will be competing in the groups that they will be collaborating with for the No Limit stage. ATEEZ were confident in their athletic abilities but they also know that the other groups also have members who are athletic, especially BTOB who have Minhyuk who won medals in ISAC.
Minyoung brought out her self-made cheer banners for every group, taking it upon herself to be their cheerleader since she cannot participate in most group games. She wrote individual groups names and the Collab Team names on the banners.
"Our princess has betrayed us." Hongjoong feigned a hurt look over his face noticing the cameras zooming on him when Minyoung could be seen cheering for The-i-9 team when they entered the field.
"I'll cheer for everyone! There's no discrimination here!" Minyoung joked sticking her tongue out to her leader before waving the banner containing SF9's name. "Sepgu hwaiting!"
"You're cheering for everyone today? Not just Chani?" Dawon called out grinning
"Of course, I'll prioritize our Chanhee." clearing her throat before raising her banner up high "Kang Chanhee fighting!" with Chani laughing waving her off.
“Okay then 8 makes 1 team.” Hongjoong jokingly said making Minyoung pout and say “If you do that then I’ll ask the other groups to take me in!”
Stray Kids who were lined up beside them looked over the group laughing. Jisung waving her over “Young-ah, come here and perform <God’s Menu> with us.” as he jokingly did the du-du-du-du with Felix and I.N dancing a bit.
“That won’t happen. I’m keeping her.” Yunho placed an arm around Minyoung’s figure grinning “I happen to like having her around.”
The MCs noticing something happening with both groups called out to them. Wooyoung calling them out grinning “ATEEZ, what are you doing? We’re filming something here. Please focus.”
“We would but our Minyoung-ie is about to be taken away!” San shouted back, the other participants amused at what is happening
Wooyung stood up surprised “What? I leave you guys for a bit and this happens. What happened?”
“They’re kicking me out and Stray Kids is adopting me, thankfully.” Minyoung moved over to Stray Kids fitting right in with her clothes having a hint of pink.
“Oh! Welcome. We gained a new member. We’ll gladly take her Dovey.” Changbin laughed teasing Wooyoung as the latter pointed at their female member “Yah! Park Minyoung!”
Eunkwang joining on the teasing raised his hands and said “We’ll also be glad to take her in. That will bring our average age down a bit.” evoking laughter from everyone.
(VAULT)
Minyoung cheered on everyone waving her banners around as the The-i-9 attempted the vaults. Yunho laughed when he saw the girl near BTOB’s table, tapping on Seonghwa’s shoulder to point it out. “Where is she going?”
“Minyoung-ah, stop invading other people’s tables.” San called out to her as she fired back “They’re not other people! They’re our teammates and we’re one team!” making the rest of Mayfly look at her laughing.
“Alice, come and join us here!” Felix waved her over to which she happily skipped over and hang out with them.
“This kid. Wait where’s Jongho?” Hongjoong looked around and saw Jongho already at Stray Kids’ table too
Yeosang chuckled “Our youngest members are all grown-up. They’re already making friends on their own.” As the rest of the members watch as the two youngest play around with the others.
When it was time for Chani to attempt the vault, Minyoung screamed waving her banner excitedly. “Kang Chanhee, fighting!”
"Minyoung-ssi won't you also cheer for the other participants? You shouldn't play favorites." MC Changmin asked, teasing the younger girl
“Oh. But I’m not close with anyone else.” Minyoung mumbled making the older male laugh.
Minyoung returned back to ATEEZ’ table after a long while sitting down beside Seonghwa who gave her a water bottle. “You should take care of your throat. You’ve been cheering since we started.”
“Ah yes. Thanks mom.” Minyoung giggled while Seonghwa shook his head already used to it
“Waah. THE BOYZ is full of good looking people.” Yunho commented as he watched them all attempt the vault
“ATEEZ is also full of good looking people oppa!” Minyoung countered nodding seriously making the members laugh
“What? We also have good looking members! Don’t think otherwise.” Minyoung continued as she returned her focus on the activity
“What is this? You’re praising us now?” Hongjoong laughed, shaking his head a bit
“I’m just saying the truth.” Minyoung shrugged smiling a bit
“But you told us we looked weird. Remember that?” San fired back grinning
“Ahh. That’s different. I’m the only one that can criticize our members. Other people don’t have that privilege.” Minyoung laughed and puffed her chest out as if proud of it “I can say those things because I do it out of love.” at this the members pretended to gag before laughing
When it was ATEEZ's turn to challenge the vault, Minyoung did light stretches before standing next to the vault. "Omo. Hongjoong-oppa what do we do?" Minyoung shouted making everyone laugh.
"She says that but watch her clear it with ease." Yunho chuckled
"Oh it seems like Athlete Minyoung would attempt next." MC Changmin announced as he saw the girl walk over to the starting line
"I'm assuming she's going to do well as she's a main dancer of ATEEZ." Eunkwang commented
"Alice is scared of heights though." Felix noted making Jisung scoff a bit hearing his remark "But she's competitive. I bet she won't even care until after the fact. She's been doing stunts with ATEEZ but I wonder why she still gets so scared."
"Maybe because when she does stunts for their choreography, she knows how she'll land?"
“Minyoung Challenge!” Minyoung shouted as she ran and made it over the vault easily, surprised at herself. “Omo! How come?” she asked aloud making ATEEZ laugh
“How come you made it over?” San laughed patting her back as 6 of 8 members pass.
As they were watching THE BOYZ challenge San commented on Juyeon’s challenge “Having the hood on was so cool. We should have worn hoods too.”
“Oppa, it would only be cool if you made it over.” Minyoung jabbed at the older male sticking her tongue out playfully, the latter reaching over pretending to flick her forehead.
For their second challenge at 1.8m, Wooyoung, Jongho, and Yunho already succeeded. The ones left were Minyoung and Hongjoong. Minyoung mumbled “I’m scared but I also don’t want our team to place last.”
Yeosang who was beside her laughed gaining the attention of the other members. “If you succeed in this attempt then you already did better than me, Young-ah. Besides, we can trust the three to do it well.”
“I know but I also don’t want to lose to our members.” Minyoung pouted as she walked towards the starting point to attempt. She ran as fast as she could and jumped making it over the vault, letting out a squeal as she flew over.
“Young-ah!” Jongho cheered immediately going over to her.
“See? I told you she would do well.” Jisung laughed raising a thumbs up towards the direction of ATEEZ.
When Hongjoong failed to make it over and hit the vault instead, all of ATEEZ ran towards him with Minyoung going over patting his back before teasing him “Our leader did well. It’s just our heights aren’t made for this kind of games.”
“You made it over though.” Yunho noted laughing
“Seriously this kid.” Hongjoong laughed poking her side as they all went back to their tent.
“Are you okay?” LeeKnow asked Hongjoong seeing as how he hit the vault
“The 10cm is a huge difference.” Hongjoong informed them as they’ll go next. Felix letting out a worried sigh.
“Felix you can do it! I even made it.” Minyoung cheered on her friend, San laughing making the girl look at him “If you say it like that then what happens to the people who failed to make it over.”
Minyoung gasped, defending herself quickly in a panic “Ah. I didn’t mean that. I just thought since Felix is more athletic that I am, he has a higher chance to make it over.”
The remaining members of ATEEZ all succeeded the 1.9m and moved on to the next level. Everyone was shocked when Minyoung cleared the 2m height, even she couldn’t believe she made it past it that when she landed she was wide-eyed, looking back towards the vault. ATEEZ let out a cheer in surprise as Wooyoung helped Minyoung out of the mat patting her back.
“You made it! Wah. Our Minyoung found her talent.” Yunho laughed sending a thumbs up towards her direction.
“Oppa what happened? Omo.” Minyoung jumped around excited that she made it over then gasped realizing that she has to try an even higher level.
When she attempted for the 2.2m, she wasn’t able to go over and instead was hanging on almost on top of the vault with half of her body on it. Realizing how high up she is, she continued to cling on the vault tightly “I’m scared! This is so high! Oppa help me.” she exclaimed making everyone laugh at how cute she’s being, while Wooyoung and Yunho made their way to help the girl down. The rest of the surviving Mayfly members also went over to steady the vault for the girl to come down.
“Just let go and jump down.” Wooyoung instructed her but she shook her head “Let go. I’ll catch you if needed.” Hearing this, Minyoung let go and true to his word, Wooyoung helped her up quickly patting her back. “You did great.”
As the three of them went back to their tent, Minyoung was holding unto Yunho as she limped slightly.
“Why? Why? What happened? Did you injure yourself?” Seonghwa immediately went over and helped the girl to sit down, worriedly checking her any injuries.
“I think I hit my knee on the vault during that last attempt.” Minyoung sighed as she shook her head “It doesn’t hurt that much but I think I won’t be able to join the other events.”
“Are you sure? You also hurt it last filming.” Jongho asked handing the girl a towel to wipe herself with
“Mhm! I don’t think I really hurt it. It’s just like stubbing your toe, just temporary.” Minyoung smiled laughing a bit. “I’m serious! If you don’t believe me then I’ll get it checked tomorrow.”
“I think that’s for the best. It’s better to be safe since you did injure it before and it might get serious if not treated properly.” Yeosang noted patting the girl’s head
"Wooyoung-oppa fighting!" Minyoung cheered as Wooyoung became the last representative for ATEEZ however, he also failed to make it over the vault for 2.30m.

"Omo. I knew it. I told you that there’s a catch when they took our photos this morning. Jongho-yah, I'm ruined." Minyoung said to the male beside her, covering her face in regret. "If I knew this was going to happen then I'd have put in more effort in how I look today."
"Yah. If you're going to say that then what about us?" Hongjoong laughed
"Have you seen everyone else? There's no way we're winning this. That's a miracle if it happens." Wooyoung motioned to the other photos posted on the board.
"Who should I vote for?" Minyoung looked through all the photos before turning to the staff "Can I please have these photos? I'll keep them as a souvenir. Maybe I'll have everyone sign them too." evoking laughter from the staff and a cheer from the girl when they said they’ll ask if she can have it after.
"I'm voting for Minhyuk-sunbaenim. As much as I want to vote for our team...lying is bad and voting should always be objective. Sorry our ATEEZ members. I love you all." Minyoung smiled before slipping in her ballot inside the box.
As the rest of the participants voted, some even voting for themselves citing that one should learn to love yourself first, some of them voting for Minyoung.
Stray Kids Jisung: I’m not saying this because I’m her friend but just judging by the photos, she looks good today.
SF9 Jaeyoon: I’m voting for Minyoung-ssi. Her photo stands out with her posing cutely.
THE BOYZ Kevin: She’s adorable and she cheers on every team sincerely. She even showed off her charms today.
THE BOYZ Hyunjae: Throughout their performances, it’s like having an on-off switch. She’s like a kid off-stage but as soon as they start their performances her charisma explodes that why I vote for her.
ATEEZ Yunho: Do I really need a reason? Our member’s pretty. *laughs*
When the results were announced, Minyoung couldn’t believe her ears when she heard her name called out together with Felix for the 2nd place both of them getting 5 votes each. She looked around pointing to herself confused.
“Me? Why?” Minyoung looked to her group members who were cheering for her.
“Minyoung-ah! You did it! ATEEZ present!” Wooyoung shouted making the others groups laugh
Yunho grinned going over to the girl patting her back and ushering her to go to the center.
“Did our members vote for me? Is this a love your own situation?” Minyoung asked outloud making the MCs laugh.
Yunhyeong looked at the cue sheet to see who voted for her before speaking into the microphone “There’s one ATEEZ member who voted for you.”
Yunho proudly raised his hand “I did! Minyoung-ah, be confident!”
“Yunho-oppa! This is why I like you.” Minyoung laughed before shooting hearts at him exageratting every movement.
Compliments calling her cute were heard in every group while Seonghwa covered his face embarassed for both his members.
“Mom! I’m on TV!” Minyoung posed cutely for the camera before laughing and facing the participants “I don’t know who voted for me but thank you. I’ll do my best to show more of my charms in the future as well.”
“Felix~ We’re twins from now on!” Minyoung declared to her friend making him laugh as they pose for the photo sharing the wreath.
“Aussie!” Chan cheered for the two clapping for them
As soon as she got back to her group, Minyoung looked at Seonghwa and asked jokingly “Does this mean you’re also 2nd place? I mean Atiny says we look alike.”
“Oh. That’s right.” Hongjoong who heard her agreed laughing as Seonghwa just blushed shaking his head.
Minyoung cheered loudly when Minhyuk got the 1st place for the visual ranking, surprising the other groups. “I voted for Minhyuk-sunbaenim.” ATEEZ just laughed shaking their heads used to Minyoung’s fan girl mode.

As the Mayfly team strategized who was going to play in the second event, Minyoung let out a giggle gaining the attention of their team.
“Why? Is something funny?” Eunkwang asked chuckling when the girl hid behind Yunho’s back suddenly conscious of everyone
“Ah. Nothing..it’s just we’re planning this seriously that it felt like this actually the competition and not the rounds.” Minyoung said her voice going softer as she talks
“What’s happening? You’re not like this Mintokki.” San laughed poking her side as the girl slapped his arm lightly, still hiding behind Yunho as she clutched on to his shirt
“Is Minyoung-ssi normally this shy?” Minhyuk asked looking at the girl
“No. Not at all. She’s far from shy.” Yunho answered quickly making everyone laugh.
“This is such a twist. I never knew Minyoung could also feel shy.” Jisung teased making the girl hide herself more pouting.
(Relay Race)
“ATEEZ fighting! I believe in you!” Minyoung shouted on top of her lungs as the runners take their place. The race went by quickly and turned to the last lap where Wooyoung ran as fast as he could overtaking everyone.
Both San and Minyoung were jumping in their tent holding ATEEZ’ flag up as they cheered for Wooyoung. “Wooyoung run!” “Oppa you can do it! I won’t call your hair, pudding anymore if you win!”
"I never knew Wooyoung was that athletic!" Changbin exclaimed as Wooyoung overtook Sangyeon and won first place in the relay.
"Jongho's still the most athletic out of everyone but Wooyoung-oppa is also up there in terms of athleticism." Minyoung said as if giving insider information.
"Don't let her fool you! If she weren't injured right now, she'll probably be the one running. Minyoungie is pretty competitive." San commented making the MCs laugh.
Minyoung pouted "I wanted to try too. Ahh why did I have to get injured. If I could've joined, I'm determined to at least be better than Hongjoong-oppa." at the mention of his name, Hongjoong's mouth dropped looking betrayed. "Yah!" the girl just laughing throwing a heart sign on her head towards her leader

“Good work today everyone” everyone clapped and bowed towards one another after the day’s activities.
Minyoung suddenly gasped remembering something. “Ah! I was given these by the staff.” She took out the polaroids from the voting before while the rest of the groups were surprised.
“Ah so that’s why the staff asked if it was okay for us if the polaroid were given..” Sangyeon laughed finally piecing together the information
“No! Minyoung-ah, let’s just take another photo. I’m not proud of how I look there.” Inseong shouted jokingly evoking laughter from everyone.
“Really? Then I’ll take you up on that!” Minyoung giggled holding her pinky up as if sealing a promise.
“Just be honest and say you want photos with Jaeyoon-sunbaenim and Minhyuk-sunbaenim.” Wooyoung started while Minyoung quickly slapped his arm, eyes-wide “Oppa!”
“Don’t forget Zuho-sunbaenim and Donghyuk-sunbaenim.” San grinned as the girl crouched down embarrassed. The males who were mentioned all looked surprised with some covering their faces feeling shy. Inseong elbowing Jaeyoon laughing knowing the male voted for her for the visual ranking.
“Ahh. Is that your type Minyoung-ssi?” MC Changming asked jokingly, the girl waving her arms around denying the allegations
“I think I see a pattern. I see a pattern.” Eunkwang laughed joining on the teasing. Minyoung just wanted to dig herself a hole and hide there as Jongho patted her back laughing.

“The Rap Unit Battle would take place first right?” Minyoung asked as the group enters their waiting room.
“Yeah then Dance and Vocal after.” Yeosang answered her setting his bag down on the chair near the dressing table.
“Aww. This is when I want to go first.” Minyoung pouted sitting down
“Why? Because you won’t be able to fangirl?” San asked laughing a bit
Minyoung nodded “Because that means I can’t talk as much since I have to perform after and we have to do back-to-back performances today and tomorrow. Both of which I have active vocal parts.”
“What? I finally gave you more parts and you’re complaining?” she heard someone say and looked towards Hongjoong who looked just as confused as her. Wooyoung was dubbing behind the leader who looked at former shocked while the rest of the members laughed at the scene.
“For a moment I actually thought you said that Joong-oppa.” Minyoung let out a giggle shaking her head
“I would never say that to you.” Hongjoong chuckled sitting down beside her as they all waited for their stylists and makeup artists to come.
“Mhm. Only Wooyoung-oppa would be that mean.” Minyoung said teasingly to which Wooyoung gasped “Yah.”
“What? You were the one who started it.” Minyoung stuck her tongue out at the older male, quickly running away standing behind Jongho using him as a shield when she saw Wooyoung look as if he’ll flick her forehead.
“Save your energies. We have a long day of recording today.” Seonghwa reminded the two.
“We’ve had to stay up for two days. This much in nothing to me right now.” Minyoung laughed a bit as she went over to their stylist who called for her so she can start getting ready.
“What are you saying? That’s true for the rest of us but you were awake for three-days straight for Round 1.” San piped in correcting her while Yeosang nodded “Her record was when we were filming for Inception. If she didn’t fell asleep during the filming then it might have gone longer.”
"It's different. We were all in a panic when Mintokki suddenly had a nosebleed while practicing for Wonderland. Even the backup dancers were alarmed for a bit." San chuckled remembering the scene of them practicing the dance break part then suddenly someone was fetching tissues while another grabbed a fan, someone else grabbed water, and the rest frozen when the choreographer stopped the routine when they noticed Minyoung's state.
“This is why we need to make sure she gets enough rest and not overwork herself again.” Hongjoong said glancing at the girl who was seated in front of the dresser
Jongho snickered before saying "Not that you have any say too. Hyung, you also disappear on us for nights working in the studio."
"Well, I'm sure we don't have to worry about Young-ie. I'm sure he is checking-" Wooyoung was about to spill when he noticed Minyoung looking at him through the mirror, slightly glaring.
"He? Who?" Seonghwa joined in, looking at Wooyoung curiously
"Nothing. I said nothing. Oh look, I need to get ready!" Wooyoung cleared his throat and was quick to escape acting as if he was called by the stylist.
Seonghwa frowned a bit glancing over to Hongjoong and Jongho if they knew anything but both of them shrugged.
"Just forget it. It's Wooyoung we're talking about here." Hongjoong sighed before busying himself with his phone.
As the rules for the judging of unit stages were being explained, a shocked gasp could be heard from Minyoung. "You're telling me Bae Yoon Jung-seongsaengnim is judging too?! Omo. Wait. I won't be part of the dance unit! I got lucky. Omo."
Jongho laughed patting her back, "You're still scared of her?"
"Yes- I mean no! I wasn't scared- okay maybe a bit. We met her during Code Name: ATEEZ and she somehow always pinpoints me. I mean I'm grateful since I improved a lot but.." Minyoung rambled earning a snicker from Wooyoung while Jongho patted her back.
"We have a lot of juniors watching too. So they're the ones voting for which performances they like right?" San asked still looking at the screen
"Yeah. I wasn't expecting them to gather people for this round." Hongjoong nodded suddenly thinking of their performance
"It'll be fine. We just need to show them what we practiced." Yunho piped in smiling trying to ease everyone's nerves
"Mhm! I'm confident in Mayfly's stages! Although I have to say, I'm curious what the It's One prepared. I saw Inseong-oppa and Jaeyoon-sunbaenim in the hallway before and their outfits doesn't tell much of what kind of stage they prepared."
"Doesn't say much or doesn't show-" Wooyoung started before getting slapped on the thigh by Minyoung "Oppa! Stop."
"Sorry sorry. You know It’s fun teasing you." he chuckled raising his hands as if surrendering
(During It’s One - Rap Unit’s Stage)
“I wonder what Sunwoo’s group did. Eric said that they’re also not sure what they prepared. It’s been kept under wraps by the rap unit but I did hear from Chanhee that it’s Hwiyoung-oppa, Sunwoo and Bobby-sunbaenim.” Minyoung said as she leaned a bit trying to get a bit closer to the screen, her hand holding a glowstick. She wasn’t allowed to bring in her lightstick again but managed to get permission for glowsticks.
“Of course it’s to be expected that Bobby-sunbaenim would participate! He’s really great and he won a competition for it too.” Wooyoung exclaimed also anticipating the performance while Jongho readies his phone to show support for his friend, Hwiyoung.
“Bun, remember to try not to ruin your voice before your performance.” Hongjoong reminded the girl chuckling when she pursed her lips before nodding.
When the It’s One’s Rap Unit stage started with just the beat driving the song, Minyoung could be seen nodding her head along but gasped when Hwiyoung opened the song with his rap. “Omo. Hwiyoung-oppa looks so relaxed but cool.”
Wooyoung nodded and commented himself “He’s sexy.” with Jongho proudly adding on “I told you he is good.”
“He’s here! WOW!” Wooyoung exclaimed as soon as Bobby came into the screen for the chorus, Minyoung a bit startled by the volume of his voice, making the rest of ATEEZ laugh when they saw her flinch.
“Are they saying to ‘mind your own business’?” Minyoung giggled a bit before trying to keep a straight face. She has seen how the viewers of the show get mad at the station and she agrees with some of their points and this song is like a clapback to what is happening. “As expected of YG artists that can produce, they know what they want and they just do it.”
“This beat and lyrics is hypnotizing.” Hongjoong smiled nodding along to the chorus.
Minyoung cheered moving the glowstick, as she did her best not to use her voice too much, when Sunwoo started his rap “Spit fire Sunwoo-yah! Let’s go!” it was safe to say that she was excited for her friend as she bounced on her seat making gestures as the verse goes.
“Oh! Sunwoo, doing good.” San nodding along
“What’s that on their shoes?” Minyoung squinted a bit but had a hard time reading whatever it is that was on the shoes due to the lighting. “I’ll have to ask that later.”
“They’re just performing with only rap.” Seonghwa noted as the song reaches the mid-point, Minyoung nodded “But you can tell they’re having fun and not to mention it feels like they made this stage to do what they want instead of doing what other people expect them to do.”
“He’s using two microphones!” Minyoung gasped pointing at the screen before closing her mouth, quickly reminded that she was supposed to be saving her voice and said in a softer voice “This is a lot different from ours, but they both have a message that each group want to get across. If ours has more of an idol feel to it then this stage feels like it’s made for Show Me The Money or something.”
“They’re just playing on stage!” San noted as the three members jump around for their performance.
“It’s a performance you can just join in and enjoy with them without care.” Yunho hummed dancing along with Seonghwa doing the same
“I’ve never seen Sunwoo and Hwiyoung-oppa perform like this. They’re so relaxed and just…having fun. It’s like this is their most comfortable stage.” Minyoung smiled as she stood up clapping for them.
“Can I download this track?” Hongjoong immediately asked while San sang the chorus addicted to the lyrics.
“Right? I want this song. I should try asking Sunwoo or Hwiyoung-oppa if he can give me the recording.” Minyoung said making a mental note to ask her friend.
Hongjoong chuckled before saying “If you get it, let me listen to it too.”
(During the rehearsals of Mayfly – Rap Unit)
“I thought Minyoung wouldn’t be as energetic with her outfit today but I guess nothing stops her huh?” Yunho said laughing seeing the girl jump around lightly as the rap unit rehearses and monitors their practice and discussing whatever arrangements needs to be done.
“What about my outfit? Anyway, I have to show my support! I declared myself to represent all fandoms so I need to do my part.” Minyoung giggled patting her chest lightly “Besides, it’s not as uncomfortable as it looks and it’s not like I’m wearing heels for the first time. I’ve danced in heels for a lot of our stages. If anything, I can probably run in these and have no problems.”
“Until you lose one shoe mid-dance.” San teased laughing
Suddenly Wooyoung laughed remembering something, making the rest of the members curious “She had a fairytale moment for it already today though. During first rehearsals, Jisung-ie handed her shoe back to her when she managed to lose one as she was climbing up the stage.” This information got the attention of the rest of the Mayfly members especially the ATEEZ members.
“Really? Why did it have to happen when I wasn’t there to witness it?” San sighed jokingly “So how did it happen?”
Minyoung blushed embarrassed “Ahh! Stop reminding me of that.”
“Why? You two were so cute it’s like re-enacting a drama too.” Wooyoung teased, laughing once more when she crouched down hiding her face as she wanted to completely forget about the incident.
“It’s like Cinderella except you weren’t running away.” Felix laughed at his friend poking her lightly as he crouched down beside her.
“Felix, not you too. I’m already dealing with two idiot members, please. Join them and I won’t talk to you again.” Minyoung groaned pouting at her friend, evoking another round of laughter from him “Alright. Alright. I won’t tease you.”
“So mind filling us in with what happened?” Eunkwang asked making everyone roar in laughter again and a groan from the girl.
“Oh. Joong-oppa! It’s your turn!” Minyoung went over to said male and gave him a hug. “Make sure to have fun on stage.”
“Surprisingly, I’m not as nervous as I thought I’d be.” Hongjoong confessed patting her back before stretching a bit to ready himself. “I’m going.”
“Fighting! Mayfly Fighting!” Minyoung cheered waving him bye as he exits the room before going back to her seat.
“Oh right. Minyoung, you recorded a bit for this song right? How was it?” Yeosang asked
“I didn’t really sing though? They did sample my voice a bit for the chorus and refrain but that was it. I recorded it with Joong-oppa then he sent it to Chris who probably tweaked it to the song.” Minyoung answered giggling “I only really sang ‘mulgamnori’ and ‘ssak da ppuryeo’. So it’s more like an after effect of some sort rather than sing it. You know like my parts in <HALA HALA>.”
When the Rap Unit’s Stage started, all of ATEEZ were on their feet, having a party of their own while watching the performance. All throughout, Minyoung can be seen dancing along to Mayfly’s stage and singing along whenever it’s the chorus.
“Good!” “You did great Kim Hongjoong.” San and Wooyoung cheered for their leader when he finished his part.
In SF9’s waiting room, Chani’s eyes lit up in recognition pointing towards the screen when Jisung’s rap part came “Oh! That was Minyoung’s painting, she was busy painting last time we talked.”
“Minyoungie? You mean she painted the portraits?” Inseong gasped at the information. “I knew she was good in drawing but she had the time to paint despite having other schedules?”
“Is there anything she isn’t good at?” Dawon asked in disbelief “She’s a great dancer, vocalist, and apparently she’s also great at rapping. Now you tell me she painted those?”
“Horror and heights.” Hwiyoung answered chuckling “She’s really bad at those.”
“She doesn’t like spicy food too, I think.” Jaeyoon answered mumbling a bit still focused on the performance
Inseong grinned nudging him raising his eyebrows playfully “And how do you know that?”
“Jaeyoon-hyung” Chani called out sounding a bit serious to which Jaeyoon immediately waved him off shaking his head, laughing it off “You were the one who made me watch their videos with you. I seem to remember them talking about it at one point”
“But to think you remember” Dawon grinned wriggling his eyebrows up and down
“Yah. Stop before anyone misunderstands.” Jaeyoon chuckled, his eyes wavering a bit, as he waved his hand in front of his face laughing
“They did so well, even better than rehearsals!” Minyoung exclaimed clapping and jumping around a bit as the stage ended.
“I agree. It turned out better than what we expected.” Seonghwa agreed letting out the breath he was unconsciously holding.
“Are they announcing the scores real-time?” Minyoung asked realizing that both Rap Unit stages are now done and all the voting will be done by the special panel prepared for this round.
“I think so. I hope they liked our team’s performance more.” Jongho answered as they all sat down on their seats
“It’s going to be hard to rate this though. It’s a matter of personal preference and both groups did well. Such a shame we have to compete.” Yeosang noted as they wait for the announcement.
Minyoung with her hands clasped together as she waited for the result mumbled, “Can’t we just stop the competition and just perform for the people? Without pressure of scores and winning.”
Wooyoung who was sitting beside her chuckled, patting her back as he too look at the screen hoping for good results for Mayfly. As soon as the results were announced declaring Mayfly the winner of the Rap Unit Battle, Minyoung felt herself relax and let out a smile. “That’s one for us.”
(It’s One Dance Unit Stage)
“Why did the Vocal Unit have to go last?” Minyoung whined a bit as they wait for the next stage to start. It’s One’s Dance Unit will go first before Mayfly’s.
“Don’t you usually dislike going first?” San asked chuckling as he sees the look on the girl’s face.
“Normally yes. But, I just want to be done with the performance and watch the rest at ease and I have to hold back my cheering a lot.” She said pouting slumping a bit on her seat
San laughed upong hearing her answer “If I didn’t know how you usually act, I’d question how you’re holding back. You’ve been plenty energetic to me.
When the music changed signaling the start of the performance, Minyoung squinted a bit at the screen trying to read the words on the LED. “What does it say? What does that mean? … Hyuk?” she turned to Yeosang for help tilting her head a bit
“Ju Tae Hyuk, I think. I’m not sure what it means but it looks like a name.” Yeosang answered although a bit unsure as there’s a lot of meaning for the characters.
“Oh oh oh! Are they doing something historical?” Minyoung exclaimed as Juyeon was carried in on a palaquin. “Juyeon-ah..” Seonghwa let out an amazed laugh at the scene. The concept fit him well and there was acting involved even as they just opened the performance and haven’t really done anything yet.
Jongho laughed “Minyoung loves these types of concepts.”
“I do! That was why I really liked ONEUS’ Lit.” Minyoung nodded scooting to the edge of her seat, focusing on the performance
“He gnashed his teeth. He gnashed his teeth.” Wooyoung noted as they jumped from the palaquins. “What’s the story?”
“Omo. Donghyuk-sunbaenim looks great. It’s a bit scary but his facial expressions is so interesting.” Minyoung mumbled as the camera pans to Donghyuk getting a close-up shot as he portrayed a crazy monarch.
Minyoung was about to comment when the camera zoomed to Taeyang before letting out a gasp “This is so interesting. They have different styles- omo! The paper’s on fire! I don’t understand what’s written on the paper but it’s burning!”
“Why is does this sound so sad?” she asked when the music changed into a traditional style “What is happening? Omo! There’s someone in the back. Are they killing her? Nooo.” Hongjoong chuckled glancing at the girl who was engrossed in the performance, amused by her commentary and reactions.
“Wait the song changed! They also changed clothes. When did they do that? What is happening? I am so confused.” Minyoung placed both of her hands on her cheeks as she tried making sense of what little she know of Korean historical events, the choreography, and the song. “He caught it! That’s so cool. He’s like a master swordsman or something. Taeyang-sunbaenim is so cool catching it like that.”
Minyoung stood up from her seat pointing at the screen surprising Jongho and Wooyoung, a shocked expression on her face “Did you see that? He flipped the thing over! How come they’re all doing cool stuff?”
“Bun, you’ll tire yourself of out like this. Settle down a bit.” Hongjoong laughed as the girl sat back down eyes still glued at the screen.
“Donghyuk-sunbaenim’s expressions are just..wow” Yunho let out a sound of awe during Donghyuk’s part
“He really looks crazy. That’s so cool and to move like that? That takes a lot of control and strength too.” San noted as he tried to copy the hand movement
“I’ve fallen for the stage.” Jongho said mouth hanging a bit as the performance slows down to the conclusion
“I want to watch that again.” Minyoung confessed awestruck at the stage direction
Jongho noted as the camera pans out “They broke the glass.” to which Minyoung looked at him with a suspicious but joking expression “Don’t tell me you’re also going to be breaking glasses now, aside from fruits?” Jongho laughed “I won’t. That’s going to hurt.”
Minyoung smiled clapping again “But the performance lingers in my mind. I really want to watch it again. I really liked the parts where they change to the slower song.”
Wooyoung nodded understanding what she meant, “I really like these kinds of performances.”
“Okay! Our ATEEZ members fighting! Blow the panel away with your own version of coolness!” Minyoung cheered waving the members making up the Dance Unit goodbye as the go get ready for the stage.
“With most of our members gone, we got quite a spacious room.” Jongho laughed looking around their waiting room with only three of them left. The production crew rearranging the room to make it look better.
[Hongjoong and the kids are left alone as 5 members of ATEEZ are part of the dance unit]
“I wonder how this round will work? Even the rap units were quite different in style and the dance unit too will have a different style.” Minyoung wondered as they sat down on the rearranged chairs.
“I’m sure the vocal unit would also be different. It’s really a matter of preference.” Hongjoong nodded patting her back “Just do what you need to do.”
When Mayfly’s dance unit started their stage, Minyoung smiled straightening her posture “I’ve seen them practice for this stage but I’m still excited for this.”
“Yeah? Do you think you should have joined the Dance Unit instead?” Hongjoong asked while Jongho looks at her waiting her answer.
“Mm..no? I mean, it’ll be fun dancing but I really enjoyed the time preparing for the Vocal Unit and working with Eunkwang-oppa was a great experience. I feel like I understood more of what I can do as a vocalist.” Minyoung answered smiling “besides, I’m sure if I were in the Dance Unit then I’d be the one doing the stunts and I’m not excited to be thrown around the stage.” Both Jongho and Hongjoong laughed knowing that it’s most likely what would happen if she were part of the dance unit.
Minyoung was dancing along in her seat having already memorized the steps from watching the other ATEEZ members practice in their free time.
“Young-ah, we’ll have to perform soon. Try not to get too excited right now.” Jongho reminded her patting her arm.
“Don’t worry. I have enough energy to last me through two days of performances right now.” Minyoung smiled throwing in a thumbs up
“You might have that energy but I’m pretty sure our stylist is getting worried that you’ll ruin your outfit right now.” Hongjoong chuckled as the Minyoung suddenly sat still looking behind the camera throwing a peace sign towards their stylist who could only laugh, shaking her head.
“Peniel having a mask on reminds me so much of our <HALA HALA> stages.” Minyoung giggled as Peniel did his solo Krumping dance
“They’re all good.” Hongjoong nodded smiling as he watched the group dance
“I’m sorry. I know I should cheer more for our members but I find myself cheering more for Felix and Peniel.” Minyoung confessed laughing “Maybe because I’m already used to seeing our members dance that I’m no longer surprised?”
“Don’t let them hear you say that unless you want to be flooded by complaints.” Hongjoong laughed as Jongho piped in “Well too late. Unless they don’t air our comments then they’ll still know you said that.” while Minyoung shrugs and says smiling “If it happens, it happens. I’m just being honest.”
Minyoung and Hongjoong stood up for the stunt with Minyoung holding on to Hongjoong’s arm nervously “Felix! You can do it!”
“That’s it. Till the end.” Hongjoong bit his lip scared that it’ll go wrong and to their joy the jump was successful. Minyoung was smiling brightly, jumping all over the place even while in heels. “They did it! Omo. They really did it!”
As soon as the performance ended, the three of them: Hongjoong, Minyoung, and Jongho, let out a sound of awe. Hongjoong could only muster himself to talk after a pause “How are they so good?”
“That’s what I’m saying.” Jongho nodded in agreement as Minyoung clapped excitedly. “They really tore up the stage. All the efforts they put in bore great fruits.”
“Now we only have to hope that the panel liked Mayfly’s better.” Jongho mumbled as they waited for the results to be announced. Minyoung nodded letting out a nervous sigh as she once again hoped that the results would be in their favor. Although if you ask her, she really liked It’s One’s performance but she also knows that this is a competition and every points matter especially if they wanted to have a chance to win.
When Mayfly was declared the winner again, Minyoung gasped and looked around trying to confirm if she actually heard it correctly. “We won?”
“Yes!” Hongjoong cheered, glad that despite the clear difference in concepts that Mayfly’s performance received more votes.
“Thank goodness.” Minyoung collapsed on the chair out of relief, before closing her eyes and biting her lip “That’s really great to hear but I’m now more nervous than before. Jongho-yah, I feel like passing out. My heart is beating so hard against my chest right now that I’m not sure I can perform.”
“Don’t say that. I’m also now realizing the pressure.” Jongho sighed placing hand on his chest. The two youngest members realizing that if they win their round then it’ll be an All-Kill by Mayfly adding on to the pressure. But they also know that It’s One has wonderful vocalists and they were all inspirations for both of them when they were trainees.
“Yah. Don’t think about anything else. Breathe and just think of your song and nothing else. No results, no audience, and nothing else. You’re going second so we still have to watch It’s One’s vocal unit performance before you go up the stage.” Hongjoong patted both of their shoulders hoping to reassure the two of them. “Worrying for the performance should only happen during practice.”
They both nodded taking a deep breath to calm theirselves. “Alright. I just need to be myself. Just be myself.” Minyoung mumbled patting her cheeks lightly to refocus herself.
As the members return to the waiting room, they found Minyoung pacing back and forth mumbling in the back of the room.
“What’s wrong?” Seonghwa looked at Hongjoong for explanation as the latter mouthed that the girl is nervous and is trying to calm herself down.
Suddenly, Minyoung smiled and cheered “Congratulations for winning the Dance Unit Battle!” hugging every member lightly, although her arms remained around Yunho.
Yunho chuckled before joking “Young-ah, you cannot feel sleepy right now.” He wrapped his arm loosely around her, patting her back. He was hoping this would help ease her nervousness a bit. “Mhmm. I’m not sleepy but just let me stay like this for a while.”
“Who want to bet Mintokki’s going to be asleep shortly after?” San asked teasingly evoking laughter from the rest of the members as the girl pouted at him, untangling herself from Yunho. “Why is it always assumed that when I’m around Yunho-oppa, it’s always because I’m sleepy?”
“Is it not?” Wooyoung asked grinning while Minyoung pursed her lips making her cheeks puff a bit “…I mean, I guess that’s true.”
“You guys are just jealous that she likes my hugs.” Yunho said jokingly patting ther girl’s head lightly while effectively turning the atmosphere lighter.
Minyoung smiled and muttered a thank you under her breathe before settling down on their seats as they get ready for It’s One’s performance.
(It’s One Vocal Unit’s stage)
“Waah. They have six people!” Minyoung exclaimed as the camera pans to an full cam of the stage
“Six.”Yunho gasped surprised that there’s that many members that came out for the vocal stage, although he also knew they had the most members for the dance but he figured having more members for a vocal battle would be tougher than during a dance.
“What?” Wooyoung whipped his head to look at the screen at the information. “You’re right. It’s probably two per group then.”
“Well for one, I know it’s Inseong-oppa and Jaeyoon-sunbaenim for SF9. I cannot be sure for who else for THE BOYZ-sunbaenim but I think it’s for sure going to be Sangyeon-sunbaenim. I don’t know who would come out for iKON-sunbaenim though. I know that I’ll be going against them but I hope Junhoe-sunbaenim participates.” Minyoung said as she tried opening a bottle of water before giving up and handing it towards Jongho who immediately opened and gave it back.
“If it’s Junhoe-sunbaenim then it’s definitely going to be a hit.” San piped in, letting out a chuckle just imagining the possibility.
“What’s that on the stage? It looks like a brazier…are they going to make use of fires?” Minyoung asked as the song starts albeit quietly but building up to something.
“I wonder what song they picked.” Jongho nodded wondering out loud
“Omo. They’re harmonizing from the get go.” Minyoung rubbed her arms feeling like she’ll break out in goosebumps. She decided to hug Yunho’s arm, the older just letting her do what she wants placing a hand on hers.
“Wait! That’s Taeyeon-sunbaenim’s <Spark>. Omo. This is going to be incredible, I can just feel it.” Minyoung exclaimed her mouth hanging open as Jaeyoon sang the first few lines. Wooyoung would have teased her for recognizing the song as soon as Jaeyoon sang but knew better not to, especially after seeing her all tensed up from before.
“See? I’m right. It’s Sangyeon-sunbaenim. I wonder who else..” Minyoung mumbled as she squinted at the screen trying to see if she can figure out the other members “Jinhwan-sunbaenim..Inseong-oppa. Oh! It’s New-sunbaenim and Junhoe-sunbaenim! Omo!”
“It suits them well.” San commented as Junhoe started his part while Hongjoong nods in agreement. The song suited all their voices despite the difference in vocal tone and color.
“They’re so good. I’m getting chills.” Minyoung was in awe already and they haven’t even reached the halfway point or highlight of the performance. She bit her lip feeling her mind drifting off to worrying again when she felt Yunho pat her hand which brought her some sense of peace. She figured she should just enjoy the song and just let everything go, both for her sanity and as respect towards her seniors currently giving their all.
Minyoung let out a sound of awe as the parts changed from Junhoe to New to Jaeyoon. “I love the contrast in their voices.” and a bright smile adorned her face when Inseong sang the lead part for the second chorus “Inseong-oppa is a really great vocalist.”
“Their harmonies are so good.” San exclaimed as the group sang in a circle the members nodding in agreement.
“Oh no. Oppa.” Minyoung gasped feeling bad for Inseong when his voice cracked before the highnote. “Don’t mind. Don’t mind. You can do it.” She whispered as if chanting a spell, biting her lip lightly as she watched on worried that it’ll affect Inseong for the rest of the performance. She knew better than anyone how a mistake can eat you up entirely and mess up your brain.
“Koo Junhoe-sunbaenim’s color really shined here.” Yunho noted as the performance come to an end.
“He really has a distinct voice and this song matches him very well.” Jongho added in agreeing as Minyoung took another sip of water suddenly aware that they’re performing next. Although she was worried for Inseong, she tried clearing her mind for her stage trying to even her breathing.
“Mintokki” Wooyoung smiled as kneeled in front of her taking her hand. She looked at him curiously as he clasped her hands enclosing them in his. “You’re ATEEZ Minyoung and I know you’re a great vocalist. Don’t think about anything else.”
“Our youngest members are great vocalists. Don’t worry and just have enjoy the stage.” Yunho grinned patting their backs as San added “Go and have a blast!”
Minyoung smiled feeling a bit more relaxed, enough to joke around and say “Oppa..we’re going to be singing a sad song and you want me to have a blast?”
San scoffed rolling his eyes playfully “You know what I meant. But if you’re joking around like this means you’re no longer nervous right?” smiling and patting her head
“Mhm. I’m much more okay now. I’ll just..trust that I practiced enough and besides if anything, we have Jongho, Seungminie and Eunkwang-oppa to save the day.” Minyoung giggled patting Jongho’s arm “I have reliable people to share the stage with.”
(During Mayfly’s Vocal Unit Stage)
As MC Changmin introduced the last performers for the Unit Stages, he described Mayfly’s team as “It’s a combination of vocalists with a range of 3 octaves. They also said that this is a stage where you’ll be able to discover more of each member’s vocal color with the fusion of male and female vocals. They described their stage where you can focus on their voices without any techniques.”
“Female then that means Minyoung is performing. Ohh. That is an interesting choice.” Eric noted already curious as to how they’ll make use of her voice
“Is it really? She did the high notes during Round 1 and that’s already a feat.” Hyunjae asked chuckling “I think it’s more of an expected choice.”
“I meant it like Minyoung is more known as a dancer in ATEEZ, no?” Eric explained shrugging lightly
“Yeah. Young-ie usually has more of an active role as a dancer than a vocalist in ATEEZ. I think their <Wonderland> performance was a first for me to see her on stage singing an active role and that high.” Sunwoo piped in agreeing with Eric adding in “She also was in the same department as me, although she graduated a year earlier.”
“Well if you think of ATEEZ as a group, the first thing you can point out is that they’re all great dancers so there is that too.” Kevin mused as he looked back at the screen “But with her taking on an active singing role for Kingdom, maybe we’ll see more of her strengths that are usually hidden?”
(Flashback to Preparation for Mayfly Vocal Unit Stage)
[The nerve wracking moment of Mayfly’s first meeting to the practice of Eunkwang and the Millenium babies]
[Minyoung’s Self-Cam]
Minyoung placed the camera on top of the desk as she sat infront of a keyboard in their practice room. “Hello everyone. So..it’s currently” she pauses looking at her phone and holding it up to the camera “It’s currently 12am and I just got back from my drama filming. It ended later than intended but it’s going to be the last shoot for a while so I can focus on Kingdom now. The other members are practicing in our studio so I asked for another room.”
She tried warming up her fingers by playing some songs on the keyboard while also warming up her vocals before she attempts to sing <Love Poem>.
“I joined Mayfly’s vocal unit team and we decided to sing IU-sunbaenim’s <Love Poem>. It’s a really great song and it’s also great for tugging at the heartstrings of the listener. Anyway, I’ll be practicing for a bit so..just sit tight?” she giggled turning her attention to the lyrics sheet in front of her as she tried playing the notes on the keyboard while singing her parts, stopping from time to time to listen to the guide Eunkwang sent them.
[Minyoung working tirelessly through the night despite the heavy schedule]
She continued talking to the camera as she scribbled notes on her lyrics sheet marking parts where she thinks needs to practice more or ask for advice. She let out a sigh as she once again reached the point where she messes up either her pronunciation or pitch.
“I need to listen to the song again.” She mumbled as she played the part over and over again, making more marks on her paper. “Hal mareul ireo goyohan maeume~ Gieokcheoreom deullyeooneun moksori~”

Not satisfied with how she’s sounding she let out a long breath playing the song again to try and see what’s different. Humming along she bit her lip lightly as she getting slightly frustrated at her constant mistakes when a knock was heard making her look up smiling at the person. The figure wasn’t caught on camera but Seonghwa’s voice could be heard asking her why she’s not picking up her phone and if she’s ready to go home since it’s already 3am.
“Oh, I lost track of time. I’ll try to wrap up soon oppa. You can go before me.” Minyoung answered nodding lightly.
“No. We’re going together. I’ll wait for you at the lobby okay? If you’re not there in 10 minutes, I’ll come here to drag you back.” Seonghwa said with a chuckle before a click of the door was heard as he left letting Minyoung wrap up her practice for the night.
“So..you all heard that. I need to go before my mom, Seonghwa-oppa, drag me out” Minyoung laughed lightly shaking her head. “I guess I’ll ask for Eunkwang-oppa’s help tomorrow when we meet up for practice and final touch up on the recording. Bye for now!”
She waved smiling at the camera as she ended the recording.
During the final recording of their song, all members of the vocal unit gathered at CUBE’s studio once again. They listened to the song again as the sound engineer and producer pointed out parts that could be improved.
“Minyoung-ah, can you do me a favor and sing the last chorus in the higher register?” Eunkwang asked after taking in the suggestions of the professionals
“Eh? Like around Jongho’s note?” Minyoung scanned through the lyrics sheet trying to check the old key she sang in.
Eunkwang nodded “Yeah. Basically the same as now but just in a higher octave. I’ll cover for your parts. If this works out then it’ll be a huge hit.”
“Mhm. Let me try.” Minyoung stood up as she hummed the notes to warm up her vocals as she entered the booth.
“Can you please play the first key? I’m having a hard time finding the note.” Minyoung asked shyly through the microphone.
Jongho chuckled turning to face Seungmin who was seated beside him as Eunkwang moved nearer to the producer to help out. “Prepare yourself for a different Minyoung.”
“Different? What do you mean?” Seungmin asked curiously while Jongho shakes his head saying “You’ll see it in a bit.”
It didn’t take long for them to actually see another side of Minyoung. The girl who was usually so bubbly actually seemed like another person as she asked for a take after another.
“This is quite different. Usually it’s the staff who asks for another take but for the singer to ask for it again and again..” the producer laughed as they paused to listen to the latest recording “It’s amazing though. It already sounds great for my ears but every time she asks for another go, I’ll immediately start thinking ‘Ah, this really sounds better than the previous.’”
“I’m surprised. I didn’t think Minyoung is the type to be..picky?” Seungmin confessed not knowing what to do with the information he just witnessed.
“We’re always joking that since she doesn’t get as much lines in our songs, she tends to obsess over her parts and make them stand out in their own way and it’s not really a hidden fact but Minyoung does a lot of backing vocals for our songs that usually gets lost in listening.” Jongho laughed at Seungmin’s reaction but understanding the feeling as he also was surprised when they first recorded together.
“But waah. I asked for one thing and she goes and tops that up.” Eunkwang laughs clapping before pressing the button to talk to her through the glass “Minyoung-ah, you did extremely well.” showing her a thumbs up with a satisfied grin on his face “You’re ready to debut.”
Minyoung giggled bowing “Thank you. I’ll do my best to debut.”
The CUBE staff praised her and they all hoped that she won’t ever lose that passion to work hard on her craft. The producer saying that if he ever makes a song that fits her then he’ll immediately send it over as a gift.
“Oh! I’ll be waiting.” Minyoung cheered before exiting the booth as she finished recording.

As the other units of Mayfly watch their rehearsal, Minyoung climbed up the her designated platform tripping on her feet but quickly catching and steadying herself. The member gasping in surprise but letting out a relieved sigh when she let out a giggle, no doubt laughing at herself.
“Minyoung-ah, are you okay?” Jisung shouted from their spot backstage
“I’m okay! It’s a bit higher than I expected.” She answered waving their concerns off as she let out a laugh.
“Okay. Let’s say hello! Hi, we’re...” Eunkwang started as they all harmonized with their unit name from Jongho to Seungmin to Eunkwang to Minyoung “May V!”
[The harmony was crazy cool!]
“It’s like a musical!” “Something about them is different.”
As they started their rehearsal, Eunkwang asked for the MR volume to be raised a bit higher while Minyoung raised her hands motioning that her in-ear stopped working before removing them and covering one of her ears to try to compensate.
While all this was happening, the members of Mayfly looked on amazed at their teamwork and their clear harmonies. Cheering and loud applause were heard as soon as the song ends.
“They were so good.” Jisung said stumbling over his words a bit still awestruck by their stage despite it being a rehearsal and not the actual performance.
“The four of them sound great together.” Yunho added smiling
“Alice! Did your in-ear stop working?” Chan asked shouting a bit to cover for the distance between them.
“I’m not sure. Half-way through the song, I cannot hear anything in them.” Minyoung answered through the microphone before talking with the staff who checked her device while the rest of the vocal unit gather around to share thoughts on their dry rehearsal.
“You’re telling me she sang the whole thing without hearing herself?” LeeKnow asked his jaw dropping a bit at the revelation. ATEEZ members laughed at how nonchalant Minyoung seemed right now.
“Sometimes, I really wonder if she’s actually an A.I pretending to be human.” Wooyoung laughed staring at the girl in disbelief
“Minyoung-noona did well. They all sound so good together.” I.N praised the vocal unit clapping for them
“They’re all set.” Peniel grinned cheering for the team
[Rehearsal captured the hearts of other members.]
Hongjoong turned to Chan “I love Seungmin’s voice. I think this performance is going to be the rediscovery of Seungmin. I really like his tone.”
[A new Seungmin fan.]
“Right. Seungminie did well. But Youngie...Waah. Hyung, let her record a song with us.” Jisung piped in making Hongjoong laugh, “Why are you asking me? Ask her.”
Felix approached Minyoung as she went to grab a bottle of water during the short break before they start another rehearsal. “Alice! You sound great. That was really awesome.”
“Really? Did it sound okay? I’m worried since I cannot hear myself clearly exactly when I have to harmonize with Seungmin.”
“Totally! You both killed it.” Felix smiled at her friend with two thumbs up. “I’m so proud of you! You were worrying so much over it last time but see? You’re doing well right now.”
“Minyoung-ah!” Jisung, after talking with Seungmin, approached the two grinning “Let’s go record a song together.”
Laughing, Minyoung poked his arm “What’s the deal?”
“What? I just want to record a song with you. Is that so bad? I like your voice that’s all.” Jisung playfully scoffed before laughing with her
“Really?” Felix raised an eyebrow, laughing when Jisung whipped his head quickly to look at him.
Minyoung shook her head smiling, not missing the chance to tease Jisung “If it means Chris and Changbin-oppa has a hand in that song then I’m in.”
“Yah. I’m also a capable producer! You don’t trust me?”
“I do trust you. It’s just.. I trust Chris and Changbin-oppa more.” Minyoung winked playfully, laughing with Felix when Jisung feigned a hurt look being his dramatic self again
“Young-ah! We’ll start rehearsals again.” Jongho called her over halting their conversation. “Got to go. Wish me luck.” she said before hurrying over to her spot
“I know that we’re currently competing but I can’t help but cheer on them too.” Youngbin chuckled as he watched the monitor turn into the usual opening sequence of each performances.
“Jongho and Minyoung are participating for the vocal unit.” Hwiyoung nodded as he pulled out his phone to show support for his friends.
“Right. We passed by each other earlier today and I was wondering why her outfit was different from the members she was with.” Jaeyoon commented before taking a gulp of water. Dawon not missing a beat grinned and poked fun at the older “Oh? Do you want her number? Or are you already close?”
Zuho tried stifling his laughter as Inseong, who was still down from his performance but can’t resist the opportunity to joke around with his members, joined in on the teasing “Should I give it to you? Is that okay Chani?” Inseong was aware of how the fans were seeing Chani and Minyoung and decided to poke fun at it.
Chani just shook his head chuckling joining in for fun “I don’t mind. I’m confident she’ll pick me.”
“What is this? Are you all filming a drama right now that I’m not aware of?” Youngbin laughed, shaking his head at the antics of his group members. Taeyang chuckling but was relieved that everyone’s spirits seem to be lightening up a bit.
(During the performance)
SF9 Dawon: They only have main vocalists for this round?
SF9 Chani: Main vocals plus Minyoung. She’s a main dancer.
ATEEZ Wooyoung: Wait. Is Minyoungie crying?
ATEEZ Hongjoong: It looks like it.
ATEEZ San: Keep your emotions in check. Don’t let them overwhelm you.
iKON Yunhyeong: They’re great. Their song choice fits their voices.
ATEEZ Wooyoung: I’m so proud of our youngest members.
ATEEZ Yunho: Minyoung-ah. Jongho-yah. *covers his mouth* Personally, this is the most impressive performance yet.
SF9 Dawon: Eunkwang-sunbaenim is supporting them while Jongho-ssi and Seungmin-ssi harmonizes, Minyoung-ssi is singing the base notes.
iKON Chanwoo: Oh? I think Minyoung is singing the higher notes.
iKON Jinhwan: That seems to be the case.
THE BOYZ Kevin: She’s crying. A tear fell down her face just now.
STRAY KIDS Changbin: Minyoung really cried!
STRAY KIDS Jisung: Young-ah. *hands clasp together as if in a prayer*
SF9 Chani: *almost in a whisper* It’s okay. You’re almost there.
SF9 Taeyang: It’s hard to keep your voice stable like this
SF9 Jaeyoon: That’s cool.
iKON Bobby: They did a great job. *clapping*
iKON Jinhwan: They did well.
THE BOYZ New: Gosh
THE BOYZ Sangyeon: Well done. They were so good.
THE BOYZ New: They were really good. You can tell she really expressed her emotions in the song for her to tear up.
The other unit members of Mayfly all cheered when the performance ended.
“That was so cool!” Jisung shouted on top of his lungs as everyone else in STRAY KIDS clapped grinning, completely satisfied with the vocal unit’s performance.
[They are speechless as they are overwhelmed.]
“Really. Personally, this performance was the most impressive.” Yunho repeated his earlier statement, proud of the vocal unit and even more so for their two youngest members.
“BTOB’s role was so important” Hongjoong concluded as the rest agreed that without the support of Eunkwang, this performance couldn’t have been possible.
As soon as the signal for the end of recording for their stage was given, everyone thanked the staff bowing. They were all glad to have finally performed and they were all satisfied to have been able to deliver it well.
“Minyoung-ah, are you crying?” Seungmin asked as the girl tried to dab the side of her eye.
“I don’t know. It’s just...It just happened.” Minyoung laughed as she tried collecting herself
“You all did well! Even better than rehearsals.” Eunkwang patted everyone’s back proud of them. Turning to Minyoung, he chuckled patting her head. “It’s okay. You did great.”
Minyoung smiled although still teary-eyed but now because of joy that they managed to deliver what they envisioned. Jongho just let out a laugh when she hugged him tightly. “Jongho-yah. It’s finally done.”
When the winners were declared, officially announcing an All-Kill by Mayfly, Minyoung couldn’t help but cry. Cry of joy and cry of sadness as she was once again reminded that this was a competition.
Outtake:
As soon as the cameras stopped rolling, Minyoung immediately went over to Inseong and hugged him. “Oppa.”
Inseong chuckled as he too become teary-eyed. “Yah. Why are you crying? You won so you should be happy.” Minyoung could only shake her head as more tears fell as she clung unto him. She doesn’t know what to say in such a situation but she knows the pressure and how he could be blaming himself for such a result. She also understands that she might not be the best person to comfort him but her heart just cries out empathizing with him.
“If they looks at us right now, they’ll think I bullied you or something.” Inseong chuckled wiping his tears away patting the younger girl’s back comfortingly “You’re crying for me that I feel like I don’t have to beat myself up.”
“I’m supposed to be comforting you but you’re the one doing it, oppa.” Minyoung managed to say in between sobs.
When Minyoung was interviewed why she cried, she could only offer a wry smile. “Inseong-oppa and I knew each other from our previous job. We both acted in a drama as the younger counterparts of the leads. He’s like a really close older brother to me that when it happened during their performance..It’s just it’s hard. I know how it feels to be put in that situation. You know that it couldn’t be helped and mistakes can happen any time but your mind would always drift back to that and haunt you when you least expect it. I wanted to offer him some comfort but it became the other way around.” Wooyoung patted Minyoung’s back as she finished her interview.
Inseong was asked about his thoughts and he chuckled remembering Minyoung’s overflowing tears. “I’m grateful for her. Minyoung’s like a cute little sister that cries when you’re sad, gets mad for you when you’re mad, and happy when you’re happy. I feel like she has shed all the tears for me that it has taken some load off my shoulders. Although it’s still a shame and I’ll still feel sorry towards the other members, I feel like I can accept it better.”

Apologies for the delay! I had to rewrite most of this part from scratch as it got deleted in my drafts. I decided no to include that much reaction from Mayfly stages from ATEEZ’s part as it is assumed that they have seen each other’s unit stages and rather shifted some focus to It’s One and other events that happened for this stage.
Hongjoong: “Considering that we’ve been doing this from MAMA since November last year, we’ve been doing this for over half a year.”
Wooyoung: “Eight months?”
Hongjoong: “While we are doing this, do you have any behind-the-scenes stories to share?”
Seonghwa: *raises his hand* “Me!”
Hongjoong: “Tell us.”
Seonghwa: “We aren’t the only ones going on stage. There are many people helping us. During <Rhythm Ta>, Hongjoong was performing on the platform, and they had to move the platform. Once, the camera switched form Hongjoong to Wooyoung. At that time, staff we’re moving the platform, then hid when the camera turned, and then started moving it again. After I saw that, I realized how people are working hard for us.”
Wooyoung: “That’s why we have a sense of accomplishment.”
Seonghwa: “That makes me want to work harder.”
Wooyoung: “I feel happier.”
Hongjoong: “How about you, San and Jongho?
Jongho: “In fact, I’m really grateful.”
Hongjoong: “To whom?”
Jongho: “To our production staff.”
Hongjoong: “Why?”
Jongho: “In round three, the producer pulled me aside and told me and that these two, a one-shot is needed at this point.”
“Hongjoong: It was supposed to be a full-shot?”
Minyoung: “Ah right! That was supposed to be a full shot!”
[After Jongho throws the crown, the camera pulls out. But a one-shot was made!]
Wooyoung: “I have one too! You are always the one who’s on the camera for the ending! Well you and Minyoung. But it’s always you for the ending!”
Hongjoong: “So for <The Real>, you want to do it?”
Wooyoung: “You did look real cool. Not really.”
Hongjoong: “Why?”
Wooyoung: “I got my share for the Introduction Stage.”
Hongjoong: “Right! You looked cool in the Introduction Stage’s ending. Ah! I have something to say too! I was the only one who didn’t have an ending in the Introduction Stage.”
Jongho: “Really?”
Minyoung: “*laughs* Ah. Because oppa was the stepped on for that stage.”
Hongjoong: “I was kneeling on the stage.”
Minyoung: “Maybe that’s why you got all the other ending shots, oppa.”
Hongjoong: “I was the ending fairy most of the time, so anyone who wants to be the ending fairy for the final?”
Jongho: “All seven of us, without Hongjoong-hyung.”
Minyoung: “I’m fine not being it. I usually get picked for it during our promotions and I think I have a bit too many screentime during Kingdom *laughs*”
San: “That’s because your reactions are always caught on camera *laughs*”
[Who’s going to be the ending fairy for the final round?]
Hongjoong: “What about you Minyoung? Any stories you want to share?”
Minyoung: “Ah, there is.”
Hongjoong: “What is it?”
Minyoung: “You know how I’m the only female participant right? During our first meeting, I was really worried.”
Seonghwa: *pats her back* “Young-ah.”
Minyoung: “You know how it was when we first debuted. There was a lot of pressure even if the staff and our members say it’s nothing to be worried about. I was really thankful that all of the groups didn’t seem to react differently. Even the staff just treated me just like any other participant in the show and that made a lot of difference. I was fully able to enjoy filming because everyone made the atmosphere welcoming.”
Yunho: “To be honest, I was thankful to let the public know about ATEEZ and to show our performances through Kingdom. But we are getting better results each time, right? So now that we’ve ranked higher, I kind of want to win. I really want it.”
Wooyoung: “In a way, we’ve been around Changmin-sunbaenim the whole time.”
Hongjoong: “We were sitting next to him when he announced the results. The spot right next to sunbaenim. That spot is for the first-place group”
Wooyoung: “You’re right and we sat at that spot twice. So I thought it would be nice if we were still at the same spot in the final round when the flower petals go off, and he yells, ‘And the winner is!’”
Yeosang: “It’s possible.”
Seonghwa: “I hope we’ll all be holding hands together.”
Hongjoong: “Like I always said, regardless of our current ranking, we’ve been getting good results. So if we finish the final round strong, we’ll be next to Changmin-sunbaenim when the flower petals go off. We just have to go for it. Let’s shout ‘Fighting!’ together.”
Everyone: “Okay.”
Hongjoong: “2, 3!”
Everyone: “9 makes 1 team. Let’s go!”
(During practice with the backup dancers)
Minyoung looks over to the lion dancers and approached them with curious eyes. “It’s amazing how you could jump around carrying this” she said patting the lion head
The dancers looked at each other before chuckling “It takes a while but you get used to it.”
“Can I try?” Minyoung smiled, almost look at them expectantly when San walked over and slung an arm around her shoulders.
“Stop bothering them when they’re resting.” San said with a laugh before dragging her away from the amused dancers.
“I wasn’t! I was just curious about it since I’ve only ever seen lion dancers from afar with other people’s performances and now, I get to see it up-close” Minyoung said with a pout as she let herself be dragged by the older male
“At times like these, I stop to wonder how old you are.” San laughed loudly as the girl lightly punched his side at his comment.
“Tell me you two aren’t bickering again.” Hongjoong asked seeing the two together. Their ‘fights’ aren’t really enough to be considered a fight but when these two are together, they could get loud and a bit rowdy even without the addition of a certain someone.
“San-oppa is-“ “Minyoung is-“
“Please stop whatever it is.” Hongjoong looked at the two and sighed before separating them. “I swear you two have too much energy and we’ve all been doing the same thing. If anything, you two should be more exhausted more than anyone with your dance breaks.”
“Well, I guess all that training I did is paying off!” Minyoung laughed and made sure to put considerable distance between her and Hongjoong before shouting “and it’s the power of youth!”
“Yah! I’m not that old!” Hongjoong said before laughing himself.
Noticing the cameras following her during the break from practice, Minyoung waved and approached it. “This song..we have recorded it way back and it’s our current treasure. It’s a bit different from our usual songs but it still has our identity as a group.”
[Is there anything you can share about the song?]
Minyoung hummed thinking of an answer when Seonghwa approached her. “Seonghwa-oppa, how much of the song can I spoil?”
Seonghwa laughed patting her head “You can’t. Ah you can say that though. Your part.”
“Oh. Then, ATEEZ is going to show everyone the beauty of Korea while also being relatable to our international fans. It’s the first time I’m doing this in a song, I guess? This is the coolest thing ” Minyoung smiled before waving bye to the camera as they got called for another run through.
(During ATEEZ stage)
Minyoung bowed before waving and winking playfully at the camera. “No distinctions, treating all fairly. Posture low and gaze down. Keep it up up up up.”
STRAY KIDS Chan: “Alice’s parts usually have are the English parts of the song but she never does full English parts right?”
STRAY KIDS Han: “It’s the first time, I think. Especially for an original song.”
SF9 Inseong: “Did you notice? Everyone had a part where they represented where they’re from.”
SF9 Youngbin: “You’re right! The dialects and then for Minyoung-ssi, she said the line in English.”
BTOB Minhyuk: "I had this thought when I first heard the song. They showcased Korean culture but I wondered how Minyoung would do as a foreigner but seeing their performance, I thought 'Ah, I shouldn't think of it like that. Minyoung is as much Korean as she is a foreigner.'"
THE BOYZ Eric: "Minyoung-ah! ATEEZ crushed it. They totally crushed it."
THE BOYZ Sangyeon: "Their energies is just out of this world. It's a great song for a finale performance."
When the chorus after Hongjoong’s rap part ended, Minyoung immediately ran towards the booth where THE BOYZ, iKON, and SF9 were at while Hongjoong headed towards BTOB and STRAY KIDS and danced together with the groups when the camera turned to them.
Thankfully, IT’S ONE team danced along even without prior arrangement as both Sunwoo and Eric jumped along with Minyoung readily then both iKON and SF9 bounced along seeing the three.
Minyoung bowed quickly as thanks before meeting up with the others on stage for the ending as they lined up on-stage.
Outtakes:
As soon as the performance ended, Minyoung went around and hugged the kids that danced with them, pulling her microphone up so her voice won’t get picked up. “You all did great! Better than practice.”
The kids smiled brightly with one even answering back “You too unnie! It was really fun. I hope we can do this again next time.”
Minyoung nodded “Of course!”
Hongjoong approached Minyoung chuckling “I was so surprised when you decided to go the other side. Did you discussed it with them first?”
Minyoung shook her head, laughing “No. I would go and thank them later for going along with it. I just thought it’ll be more fun if we could include everyone in the performance, just like how the song goes to treat everyone the same no matter who they are. For me, competition aside, we’re all the same. People who love music and performing to bring smiles and comfort to others. It’s just a big family.”

I’m pretty sure it wasn’t clear since I’m bad at explaining haha! So, I imagined Minyoung’s parts as narration backings in the song like Pirate King’s “Will you be my friend?” or in HALA HALA’s “Surprise modu girib baksu / Suicide squad hyeonshilpane / Frightening Let’s get burning now” and “HALA HALA”.
Then, as for the part where the other groups where surprised where Minyoung has a whole verse for herself, imagine it as her singing the English translation of the song lol
As for the lines done in dialect lol The direct translation of it would be “This is cool” but for the general flow of the song, “This is the coolest thing” is closer to what the line means.
Truth be told, I originally wanted to mix in another group’s lyrics or make up my own to insert as Minyoung’s parts but I didn’t like anything I came up with so I chose the easy way out haha!
We’re almost there! Haha For those who didn’t see my behind-update last time, my computer is currently out for repair so I’m using my phone to type things out lol this is on top of my still recovering wrist so the next update might take a while. Excuses, I know haha! I have drafts for non-Kingdom “episodes”, so we could also just leave the Kingdom “arc” of Minyoung and move on. I don’t see much of what else I could do in the show (particularly the final) other than Minyoung’s fangirl moments and maybe some behind interactions.

Today was finally the last day of filming for Kingdom and to Minyoung it was both a curse and a blessing. A curse because she could feel her heart thumping loudly against her chest in a mix of nervousness and excitement to show what they practiced over countless nights. A blessing because after today, although they still have many schedules planned in their calendar, she could finally have some rest from the non-stop practice and rehearsals throughout the whole preparation which started from when they were preparing their last comeback with <Fireworks> and to Kingdom preparations. It’s been 100-days since they first met for the Introduction Stage, Minyoung could not place if it felt long or fast for her but she’s sure that she wants the competition to end and just hang out with all the groups.
“Mintokki, are you okay? You’re awfully quiet.” San approached the girl who looked lost in her thought.
“Oppa. I feel like I’m going to faint.” Minyoung answered in a quiet voice.
Slightly alarmed, San held on to her arm and a sudden barrage of questions came at her “Are you feeling sick? Do you want me to call our manager? Do you want water?”
Minyoung shook her head and answered in a hurry “No no. I’m fine. I’m just nervous that’s all. I’ll be okay once we perform.” Laughing a bit as she tried easing her nerves, patting San’s hand to reassure him.
“What’s wrong? Are you feeling under the weather?” Jongho asked as he approached the two, followed by Yunho who patted Minyoung’s back
“I’m currently a mess of a mix of both worry and anticipation.” Minyoung let out a long breath, before doing some light stretches to get her mind out of the cycle.
“I would say not to worry but I’m also a bit overwhelmed right now.” Jongho confessed letting out a nervous laugh before patting his chest lightly “All I could think of right now is I want this all to end already and eat some good food.”
Yunho wrapped his arms around Minyoung and swayed from side to side. “I can’t say everything is going to be alright but as long as we do our best then I’m sure the results of our efforts will be seen, if not by the viewers but at least by ATINY.”
“Mhm. I’ll try not to think about it too much. It’s just preshow nerves, I guess. Later on, I’ll make sure to just enjoy every performance today.” Minyoung smiled as she feel herself relax
“Right. You finally got to bring them right?” San laughed remembering her excited squeal days before.
“Yes! I was finally allowed to bring my lightstick! Well, I’ll have to improvise for THE BOYZ-sunbaenim since I don’t have theirs. I’ll just use Lightiny for them and change it to their color, I’ll have to check it with Eric later but I think I have the color down.” Minyoung’s smiled brightened at the thought
“I still can’t believe she brought her goods.” Jongho laughed remembering the bag the girl brought with her and asked the staff to place on their seats.
“I’ve always been curious. Did you start buying lightsticks when you moved to Korea or even back in Australia?” Yunho asked
“I never really bought lightsticks before, but I did buy albums. Well my mom bought me and my brother albums.” Minyoung revealed tapping her chin lightly
“Wait. I am hearing for the first time. Dan-hyung is a kpop fan?” San asked surprised
“Really? I think he was pretty vocal about liking Korean music?” Minyoung tilted her head confused
“I mean he is but I thought he liked hiphop not pop?” San answered
“You mean you haven’t heard him gush about SNSD?” both Minyoung and San looked shocked at what the other said making Yunho laugh and note “I don’t think San was around when we called him that time.”

Minyoung stood between Honjoong and Wooyoung as they walked in the studio. There were no audiences around they cannot hear an immediate feedback about their seemingly mismatched outfits which Minyoung could swear was an interesting idea. She has met with the other participants particularly the millennium babies’ group as the older participants of Kingdom call them.
They all agreed to take photos after announcement and meet up once restrictions ease up a bit.
While watching from the sides, Minyoung saw the rest of the groups enter the space where they’re at and laughed to herself. “These are the times where I envy their ease and confidence.”
Jongho heard her and chuckled “Me too. They’re really relaxed and even though we’re all probably nervous how the rest of this competition would go. We might be the only group that enters all seriously.”
“Right? Maybe I should have waved but everyone said to look fierce for our entrance that I just tried channeling a tough appearance.” Minyoung nodded, pouting a bit. “Even Stray Kids weren’t stiff when they entered. Is this the difference in experience?”
“At least we can show our cool side to ATINY again.” San added joining in their conversation.
Minyoung got surprised by the fireworks shooting off from the sides of the stage making her jump and hold onto Jongho.
This was noticed by Peniel who chuckled and turned to look at her, “Are you nervous?”
Minyoung nodded, letting out a nervous laugh “Very much so. It’s quite nerve-wracking since we’re already at the last stage.”
“Just think of it as any other stage. You’ve practiced enough and you just need to enjoy and have fun tonight.” Peniel said smiling

"I was thinking if all of us should go or if it'll be more advantageous to have someone focus for our own stage?" Yeosang asked
"You know..our team has a lot of dance members but as expected Yunho, Yeosang and San should be in the dance unit. But what about Minyoung, Seonghwa, and Wooyoung?" Hongjoong looked around as he tried weighing the pros and cons.
[ATEEZ has a lot of strong dancers which makes it harder for them to decide.]
"Won't 3RACHA go for the Rap Unit? That means you'll go to JYPE right? I'll go!" Minyoung raised her hands jokingly as she felt the atmosphere tense a bit.
"Really? You'll join the rap unit?" San asked surprised that she's volunteering for rap

"No." She said firmly before continuing "I just want to tag along and see JYPE's building. I never said I'll join the performance." making the group laugh easing the atmosphere.

“Let’s decide the team members first. Vocal Unit first.” Eunkwang asked motioning for ATEEZ to go first.
“From our team, our maknae Jongho is for sure to join for the vocal unit-..” Hongjoong answered but was interrupted by Eunkwang exclaiming as he clapped remembering the stage “Ah! 4-level high notes in the first round right? He did it with your female member!”
“Yes, he did it with our Minyoungie.” Hongjoong nodded smiling
“Wait. You only said Jongho’s name, does that mean she won’t join for the vocal unit?” Minhyuk asked realizing that only Jongho was mentioned
“Ahh. Since this is a team mission, we wanted to ask for you opinion for that. Jongho is for sure to join the vocal unit as he’s ATEEZ’s main vocal while I’ll join in the rap unit and Yunho joins the dance unit. Depending on what we’re going for other members could be moved around in the units to fit our need.” Hongjoong explained as he pulls up the members portraits provided by the staff for this meeting and group them to their original positions.

“We talked amongst ourselves and most of our members thought that since we’re strong on dance, we could have more members put into that unit. However, we also wanted to check with sunbaenim if there are members you think would fit better in the other units.” Seonghwa further explained to the other Mayfly members present.
“For BTOB, we didn’t have that much of a problem deciding who goes were. Minhyuk will join the rap unit, Peniel would join the dance unit, and I’ll join the vocal unit. Personally, I want to have Minyoung-ssi join the vocal unit too. That 4-level high note with Jongho was no joke.” Eunkwang imitated the high notes but in a parody way which made the younger members laugh.
Chan nodded before saying “Alice can also bring a different impact in the dance unit too but during Round 1 stage, she really made an impact and although she’s definitely a great dancer we might have more benefit in getting her in the vocal unit.”
“Alice? Ah is that her real name?” Eunkwang asked confused
“Yes. Minyoung is also from Australia like me. Her English name is Alice.” Chan nodded as Eunkwang threw in random English words again evoking laughter from everyone.
“So should we put Minyoung in the vocal unit?” Hongjoong asked looking at the other members
“If you don’t mind, I really would like to have her for this unit.” Eunkwang nodded as both Seonghwa and Hongjoong agreed.
“I will leave our youngest members in your capable care, sunbaenim.” Hongjoong smiled bowing lightly as Eunkwang just lets out a laugh waving his hand a bit thanking him for letting him take the members.
"Oh? You came together. Are you going to be rapping with us?" Minhyuk asked as two individuals walk towards him. The cameras panned towards the two revealing Hongjoong and Minyoung walking together.
"Good morning!" Minyoung greeted cheerfully as both she and Hongjoong greeted him. This was quite a change for her as throughout the filming of Kingdom, Minyoung has been really shy towards her idols mainly to BTOB and iKON.
"Are you two on a date?" Minhyuk teased as the pair came with Minyoung holding unto Hongjoong's arm
Before Hongjoong could even speak, Minyoung was already answering "Yes." the cameras zooming on everyone's reaction as the girl paused a bit before continuing "I came to accompany my father."
"Yah. I'm not that old!" Hongjoong gasped frowning, removing his arm bewildered
Minhyuk let out a laugh, before pretending to be sad "If he's old, what am I? A fossil?"
"Nope! Minhyuk-sunbaenim is an oppa. Good-looking people are forever an oppa." Minyoung laughed when she saw Hongjoong's betrayed expression. The staff even providing effects on his close-up and the sound effect of glass breaking.
[Kim Hongjoong / 24 / betrayed by his child (?)]
"JYP really is different." Minyoung noted as she looked up at the building. Hongjoong nodding in agreement as they see the difference between KQ's office against JYP's office. They were waiting for the staff to finish filming 3RACHA's opening before the members of rap unit enter the building.
"But seriously, will Minyoung-ssi be part of Rap Unit?" Minhyuk asked looking at the girl
"Ah. Feel free to speak comfortably with me. I have a schedule nearby, that’s why I’m here but I’ll cheer everyone on! I’ll have to go in a bit." she explained smiling as she patted Hongjoong's back
"Minyoungie is currently acting in a drama and her filming schedule clashes a bit but she’ll join the vocal unit for when they meet later." Hongjoong explained to Minhyuk as the latter nodded in understanding
"Oh? Tell me the drama and I'll watch it." Minyoung smiled brightly nodding "Ah yes. I'll be holding you on to that then."
When the rap unit were listening to the beats made by Chan, Hongjoong felt joy sharing ideas to other people who also produce music. In ATEEZ, he doesn't really have anyone to talk to as much because while the members do give him their opinions, none of them have experience in making songs from scratch.
As they were taking a short break while Chan adds in the bits they talked about before, Hongjoong suddenly clapped his hands as he remembered something "That reminds me. Have you heard heard Minyoung's cover of <God's Menu>?" At this information, 3RACHA and Minhyuk turned to look at him intrigued
"When? She didn't say anything about that?" Jisung chimed in "Did she do the whole song?"
"At first she only sang a short bit during her LIVE then our fans apparently liked it so she did a full one. Hold on." Hongjoong explained as he scrolls through his phone for the song. "This actually paid a huge part why we had Minyoung rap for Round 2." he played the song for the group with 3RACHA vibing to the whole song as usual
"She raps well." Minhyuk laughed nodding along to the song “and her voice when she’s rapping is full.”
“Surprisingly, Minyoungie’s vocal mixes well with different genres of songs but it sounds great with heavy songs like this. It amazes me every time, particularly when we’re recording for our songs. It’s such a heavy contrast to her speaking voice when you’re comparing her tone when speaking in Korean and English. You’d think her tone would sound higher when she’s singing in Korean but she transforms depending on the song, like if you give her an acoustic song then she sounds a whole lot different from this.” Hongjoong confessed making the others open their mouth imagining it. “A lot of it has to do with being in our group, before her vocal technique changed to make a better fit. That’s why she’s an important part of ATEEZ and a vital part in how we could make our songs sound the way it is.”
"Wow. She did really great. Did she also do the mixing?" Chan laughed clapping as the song ended
"I had some hand in it but she mostly did the inputs." Hongjoong chuckled remembering how it felt like being a robot being given instructions when the song was recorded
"Can't we have her do some backing vocals for our song? I think it'll turn out great." Minhyuk suggested looking around for the others' reaction
"Will she agree though?" Changbin asked turning to look at Hongjoong
"I can call her right now, if we want?" Hongjoong dialed her number as the ringtone played <Fireworks> making Minhyuk laugh "She's promoting your song well."
Minyoung: Hello?
Hongjoong: Bun, can we talk right now?
Minyoung: Ah yes. We're currently on break. Is something wrong?
Hongjoong: So remember when you covered <God's Menu>
Minyoung: *gasp* Oppa! You didn’t-

Changbin: *laughs* Thank you. Minyoung-ah, will you be fine when you both get home?
Minyoung: I fear nothing. Besides, it's not like I get that many lines in our songs

"Why? Minyoung could easily eat wherever she wants." Jisung fired back jokingly making Hongjoong laugh, understanding what he's hinting at
"Why? Why? What about Minyoung-ssi?" Minhyuk asked curious as there seems to be an inside joke
"She's golden." Jisung motioned as if it's raining money evoking even more laughter from Hongjoong as Jisung added "We often joke around that Young-ie could buy everyone in Kingdom food and that's pocket money for her."
"You do realize that she'll probably hunt you down when she sees this right?" Chan commented making Jisung drop his jaw in realization. "Oh no." cue everyone's laughter
(Mayfly Vocal Unit - First Meeting)
Eunkwang was alone in the room as he looked through his phone trying songs that would work well with the vocal unit when a knock was heard on the door and Seungmin entered the room before greeting each other and sharing small talk.
A few minutes later, both Jongho and Minyoung arrived at the building walking side by side.
[ATEEZ Minyoung and Jongho, both Millenium babies, arrives.]
“This is my first time coming here. I’m actually nervous, Jongho-yah.” Minyoung mumbled as they entered the building.
Jongho laughed a bit patting her back “Me too but at least we’re not alone. Besides, you also know Seungmin so it’s not going to be that bad?”
“I mean..sure but it’s BTOB-sunbaenim! Eunkwang-sunbaenim is like high up there in terms of vocals and then suddenly me?” Minyoung pouted, waving her arms around as if to emphasize her point
“What about you? I heard he wanted you to be in the vocal unit so you have to give yourself some credit here, Young-ah.”
“That’s exactly why I’m more nervous than ever! Imagine, THE Seo Eunkwang saying he wants me to join him and both Seungmin and you? That’s like some extra pressure served on the side!” Minyoung exclaimed while Jongho shook his head smiling. “You’ll be okay and didn’t you say you wanted to be in a song with BTOB-sunbaenim before?”
“That’s true. I just have to challenge myself.” Minyoung lightly slapped her cheeks to motivate herself as they approached the meeting room.
Jongho knocked on the door with Minyoung trailing behind her.
Eunkwang looked at the door and jokingly said “Sorry. This is the wrong room.” as Jongho slowly backs out.
“Ah. Is this not the right room? We were told that we have to see Director Seo for the audition.” Minyoung replied jokingly making Seungmin laugh outloud and Eunkwang ushering both ATEEZ members in.
“Why do they all keep calling me Director Seo as they come in?” Eunkwang exclaimed laughed
“But you’re an important person.” Minyoung replied evoking laughter from the staff and the vocal unit members

“ I was really excited by the thought of letting people hear my song and my voice. ‘This guy likes to sing ballads.’ ‘He really likes sentimental songs’ I really wanted to show this to people.” Jongho answered during the group interview
“As for me, I wanted people to know about me as a singer. There was not much opportunities for me to sing a lot. I wanted people to know what kind of music I like and that I can also do much more as an artist.” Minyoung confessed smiling
[The members of Mayfly’s vocalists’ unit have come together.]
Eunkwang looked at the younger members and said “We’re the small elite.”
“All we need is you.” Seungmin answered while Minyoung piped in “That’s right. It’s like gaining a SSR teammate.” Jongho nodding in agreement
“What do you mean? I’m going to leave it all to you three.” Eunkwang countered
“Jongho is so good.” Seungmin immediately turned his attention to Jongho as the latter gets shy especially with Minyoung nodding excitedly and exclaiming proudly “I agree with you on that one too! Jongho’s the best.”
“Before our meeting, I searched everyone’s clips and I was so reassured. For real.” Eunkwang confessed making the younger members shy with the compliment.
[First member Seungmin has a refreshing voice. Second member Jongho has a sweet voice. Third member Minyoung has an alluring voice.]
“I’ll do my best.” all three of them said at the same time.
“With everyone’s voices, I think we can create something awesome.” Eunkwang smiled as he ran through with them some songs that he preselected that he thinks would match well with the group’s tone.
“What kind of music do you like? We should choose a song.” Eunkwang asked pausing a bit before continuing “I will share first. I was really a picky listener. It’s not really a good thing. I thought of Park Hyo Shin-sunbaenim, Naul-sunbaenim..” at this Minyoung immediately whipped her head towards Jongho, nudging his arm. “Jongho also suggested that on our way here. He said we could try <Wild Flower>. We ran through both our lists and it’s surprisingly the same. I said we could do BTOB-sunbaenim’s songs too.”

“I personally like band music.” Seungmin confessed with Minyoung nodding and mumbling “Of course. DAY6-sunbaenim.” with Seungmin giving her a high-five laughing a bit
“Oh? I think your voice will go well with modern rock.” Eunkwang noted as Seungmin nodded “I guess I’m widening the field that really suits me. Before it was really limited.”
“Minyoung’s voice surprised me the most. When I listen to ATEEZ’s songs it sounds really powerful and full then I saw the covers you all did and your voice just transforms depending on the song.” Eunkwang said as he looked at the girl who was slowly tring to dig herself into her seat feeling shy with the compliment.
“I think it’s because I originally trained to be a girl group member? When I joined the team, I had to change styles a bit to mesh well with the group’s identity.” Minyoung nodded a bit as she tried to think of a reason behind her vocal style
“I think the four of us could choose different songs.” Eunkwang concluded as they have a hard time deciding which song they’ll use for the round
“Shall we take turns and say one song each?” Seungmin suggested
“I already have chosen my number one pick.” Eunkwang started
“Already?” Minyoung nodded curious as to what song he picked
“I’m the youngest, so should I say mine first?” Jongho asked as the rest of the members nodded. “For me, I chose a song called <Mama>” at this Eunkwang sang a bit of the song nodding as he is also familiar with it
[Jongho’s number 1 pick: JUNGKEY’s <Mama> shows off fancy vocal and mournful emotions]
“I already know you’re going to pick it but this song really..” Minyoung giggled a bit as she has heard the song enough times while practicing with Jongho
Eunkwang turned and asked “Do you know this song, Seungmin?”
“I’ve never heard it before.” Seungmin sadly confessed
“If this song is rearranged to fit us..There are parts that explode and parts that form a harmony. I think it’s a song that lets us showcase lots of things.” Jongho explained the reason why he chose the song.
“My choice is IU’s <Love Poem>.” Seungmin said as both Minyoung let out a surprised gasp and Eunkwang suddenly stood up.
“Don’t tell me your number one pick is..” Seungmin asked with eyes-wide
“Yes, my number one pick is IU’s <Love Poem>” Eunkwang confirmed making the rest of the members laugh while Minyoung raised her hand “Me too!”
“Minyoung told me she wanted to do IU-sunbaenim’s <Love Poem> or GB9′s <Star>. All your picks match.” Jongho looked at the three of them amazed.
“This is incredible.” Minyoung clapped laughing at the coincidence
“Then my number one pick is also IU’s <Love Poem>” Jongho quickly changed his song making the rest of the members laugh

“It’s a really good song to sing in harmony, the lyrics have a clear story. It’s already popular and we can show off our vocal skills and express our emotions.” Eunkwang explained his thoughts on the song
Minyoung nodded adding in “I thought it’ll be a great song to showcase a different side of our vocals. Eunkwang-sunbaenim is already known for releasing emotional songs but the three of us have our groups’ identities which leans more on to powerful upbeat songs with choreographic highlights. I also think it’ll be great to create a stage that will linger on the audience’s minds even after the performance.”

The members of the vocal unit gathered in the Cube vocal practice room with Eunkwang on the keyboards to be more familiar with the vocal styles and tones of the members. “Should we just try singing it first?”
[Figuring out each other’s vocal style]
Eunkwang started as he sang lightly while playing the keyboard as the three members look on in awe. Minyoung moving her hands as if she’s in a concert as the other two copy her.
“What do you guys do for warmups?” Eunkwang asked while Jongho answered with a laugh “<Love Over a Thousand Years>?”
[At a loss for words]
Minyoung immediately scooted her chair a bit away from Jongho already knowing what is going to happen as soon as Jongho starts singing.
[Let’s dive into his high notes.]
They all clap for Jongho as he finished the latter getting shy and visibly getting redder.
“As expected, we don’t have to worry about the high notes.” Eunkwang noted laughing lightly “What about Minyoung? What’s your go-to song?”
“Ah..it depends on the mood. I don’t really have a set one but I used to practice a lot to Lee Sun Hee-sunbaenim’s <Fate>.” Minyoung answered as she tried to wrack her brain if there’s a particular song she uses for practice.
“Don’t you usually sing <Resignation>?” Jongho patted her arm, chiming in.
“<Resignation>?! Lee Young-Hyeon?” Eunkwang looked at her with wide eyes while shocked gasp escaping him
“I knew you liked <Fate> but you really use <Resignation> as a warm up?” Seungmin let out a bewildered laugh
“Can you sing a bit <Resignation> then? They’re different but also the same in terms of difficulty but I’m more curious of that song.” Eunkwang asked a he lightly played a note on the keyboard for Minyoung to find the key to start the song with.
Minyoung sat up straight closing her eyes as she sang the last chorus of <Resignation> of the song belting off high notes, just like how Jongho did before her.

The two members of the vocal unit clapped after she finished while Jongho smiles patting her back congratulating her for a job well done.
“Wah. This is...Does all of ATEEZ sing that high? Is it part of your company training to sing songs like these?” Eunkwang shook his head in disbelief “and how come you can portray the emotions and sensitivity well? Have you been through a bad breakup?” he asked jokingly with a laugh as he cannot believe what he just heard came from the girl who is now covering her face out of shyness.
“If I knew you two would do this then I would have volunteered to go first.” Seungmin let out an exasperated sigh before laughing to himself
“Just do what you’re used to. How about you, Seungmin?” Eunkwang asked
“For me...THERAY’s <Cleaning>” Seungmin answered as he started singing while Eunkwang adds in harmony as if enchanted by Seungmin’s soft tone. Minyoung humming in lightly with them as both Jongho and her joined in on the harmonies naturally making a quartet.
“That was nice. I think the four of us are going to be great together.” Eunkwang concluded after hearing everyone’s voices. “I think I’m in the middle of you two” he said motioning over to Seungmin and Jongho “In terms of vocal range and emotions while Minyoung adds in more to the song’s impact, setting aside how male and female vocals combine together for songs. Should we try singing in harmony? Seungmin, sing the original notes. Jongho sing them in three notes higher and I’ll go below the original notes. Minyoung, can you try singing them in the original notes but blend your voice with Seungmin. We’ll try this first if it doesn’t work we’ll have you try singing an octave higher.”
Minyoung listened to the leading key to get the pitch right before giggling a bit “Okay. Omo. I can’t believe I’m doing this.”
“I really wanted to try something like this.” Seungmin whispered to Jongho who nodded in agreement. “Me too.”
“It was a dream of mine to be able to visit the company’s vocal room to practice, talk, and make memories with the members who are in charge of singing a lot.” Seungmin confessed during their interview
[Seungmin’s dream is coming true.]
The four members concentrated on their parts as they sang the highlight of <Love Poem>.
[They sing in harmony the first time they meet. This isn’t that bad for their first try.]
“Ohh. So this is the vibe. We’ll go like this for now. It’s apparent that Minyoung and Jongho are familiar with each other’s voices so we’ll have to tweak the arrangement a bit. Anyway, we did it at once, <Love Poem>” Eunkwang noted “Didn’t you feel something?
“I felt it as we sang the first verse.” Seungmin nodded understanding what the feel of the performance would be like

“The four of us have different colors but it all comes together clearly.” Seungmin commented after their first try
“I imagine four people are on the white stage platform, and there’s dry ice smoke underneath.” Jongho added in
“Or we could have different platform heights and since we have Minyoung, we could have her in the center as form a semi-circle.” Seungmin nodded laughing a bit when Minyoung looked at him with wide eyes.
“If we’re doing a different platform then we should have Eunkwang-sunbaenim with the highest platform. He’s the leader.” Minyoung motioned over to the said male who only laughed
“Let’s make a legendary performance!” Eunkwang concluded as they let out their team cheer.
“Did anyone have any problems with the parts?” Eunkwang asked as they all meet up for practice before they record the whole song.
“I don’t think I have much but I think I need to hear everyone’s parts personally to find the right key that I need to sing in.” Minyoung said raising her hand to represent the notes
“Ah that’s right. You’re mostly singing the harmonies for the first parts then original note on the second.” Eunkwang browsed through the lyrics and played the parts “For this we could try it once to check.”
“And out of all of the parts, I’m most worried of the last part since I need to stretch out my notes longer and higher.” Minyoung tilted her head a bit looking towards Jongho for help
“The whole time we practiced, she would always tear up and we didn’t even have the complete song yet.” Jongho piped in chuckling a bit
“Really?” Eunkwang asked looking at the girl
“I’m afraid that I’ll get overwhelmed on stage and have my voice break.” Minyoung confessed pursing her lips a bit. “I’ll practice hard enough to not let that happen.”
The four of them continued on their practice, adjusting parts to achieve the best results as they run through the whole song.
“You guys did a perfect job! You’re all fast learners!” Eunkwang cheered as they finished the song, happy with the result. “Now we just need to record this and polish the harmonies for the actual performance.”
A knock was heard at KQ's practice room during the dance team's break making all the members look up at the door to find Minyoung's head peeking in.
"Is it alright if I come in?" she asked as she suddenly felt all eyes on her including the backup dancers
"Yah. Don't try to pretend to be shy and just barge in like you usually do!" Wooyoung called out making ATEEZ members laugh
"What do you mean barge in? I also practice here!" Minyoung fired back as she trudge inside holding on to coffee carriers on both hands followed by their manager who is also carrying carriers. Seonghwa immediately went to help the girl prompting the others to do so as well.
"I brought iced coffee to cheer on members of the dance team. I didnt know what everyone drinks so there's americano, caramel machiato, and some green tea latte. Hopefully everyone could get what they like." She said as she distributes the drinks accordingly.

"What's the occasion? Are you treating us because there's Stray Kids and BTOB here?" San teased grinning
"Yah oppa. If you say it like that then it'll seem like I don't buy food for you guys. Then, should I charge you for all the snacks you got from me?" Minyoung playfully glared at him
"Sorry. I meant you usually don't buy coffee but rather make food." was all San could say as everyone laughed
"Does she always treat like this?" Felix asked Wooyoung near him
"She does it from time to time saying that one should enjoy life but she does pack food a lot for our members especially when we have schedules." Wooyoung chuckled
"Minyoung-ah, Peniel said he'll buy us icecream later. Will you be able to stay?" Yunho asked the girl as they all sat around in a semicircle
"Ah. I would love to but I have to hurry over to Cube and meet up with Jongho for our recording. I’m actually running a bit late since I had to go back here after my schedule. I appreciate the invite though!" Minyoung smiled and bowed lightly to Peniel
"You're also part of Mayfly so of course you're included. Feel free to just call me comfortably." Peniel extended his hand towards the girl
"Ah sure, Peniel. Man, it's been a while since I called someone by their name like before." Minyoung laughed taking his hand and shaking it
"Oh? Are you not Korean?" Peniel asked a bit confused
"I was born and raised in Australia but my parents are both Korean. Aussie representative here..well with Felix." Minyoung smiled brightly as she did a small salute before waving at her friend who looked at her upon the mention of his name
"You said you haven't called someone by their name but I seem to remember someone shouting Jung Wooyoung last night?" San teased the girl joining in the conversation
"Oh that's right. I remember hearing my full name last night. I was so surprised." Wooyoung agreed grinning
"Who's fault was it? Someone decided it'll be fun to mix my colored elastics with the plain ones." Minyoung scrunched her nose defending herself
At this Wooyoung immediately shut up before mumbling "Yes ma'am. Sorry." evoking laughter in the room

Minyoung was ushered over to the recording studio that Mayfly’s vocal unit will be using, she also brought over drinks enough for all of them including the recording staff.
“I’m sorry I’m late.” Minyoung said as she enter the studio, bowing politely towards everyone, as Jongho took the drinks off her hands “I brought drinks as an apology. Filming wrapped up a bit later than anticipated.”
“We’re finally complete! Welcome welcome.” Eunkwang motioned for her to sit down with them on the couch smiling as he handed her the rearranged lyrics sheet. “We already started recording a bit and made some adjustments since the original distribution did not work as well.”
“Did you just come back from your schedule?” Jongho asked as he helped her distribute the drinks
“Mhm. Not directly since I had to stop by the company for a bit. Oh! I saw the dance team and everyone was there.” Minyoung answered skimming through the sheet and taking out her pen and marking her parts
“Are they practicing well?” Eunkwang inquired as the dance unit has the most number of members for Mayfly
“I cannot say. They-“ Minyoung was about to answer when Jongho’s phone rang with Wooyoung’s name on the screen. Eunkwang nodded and talked a bit with the dance team, laughing a bit when they’re teasing him of not treating the BTOB members with food.This playful mood continued on throughout their recording until Eunkwang decided he should treat the younger members to some food, laughing when they asked if he felt pressured because of the Dance Unit’s call.

Unit Stages part 1! This got longer than intended but I regret nothing lol I originally wanted to just go through the episode as is but decided that a behind the scenes would be better than just adding in scenes for Minyoung on the original episode.
