Ok tumblr friends,

I'm in one of those spots as a writer where I'm worried I'm in a rut and need to shake it up a bit. Don't get me wrong. I love my two WIP and I have a third outlined. But I was thinking that I should write some one shots again---it's been a long time.

So, fire some prompts at me would you? Please do keep it in my Star Wars multiverse, I don't have the brain space to jump fandoms at the moment. xD But any story ideas you'd like to see in the context of the Star Wars OT and the characters I write, I'd love to hear about them. :D

Spent this whole week not able to finish a damn thing, and had one of those internal, “ohgod ohgod I’ll never write anything ever again” freak outs. Just… reading other fics and churning out two-three sentences of my own while trying not to panic.

Anyway, slowly dragging myself out of this funk but thought I’d share ❤️ I wrote over 400,000 words last year but even I still hyperventilate over a week or so of inspiration constipation. I know creativity feels so fickle sometimes… that’s why a writing community is so important.

I’m so grateful to the talented writers I know, and for friends who put up with me complaining that the Words Just Won’t.

Six Sentence Sunday!

Borrowing this tag meme from @chromat1cs, whose amazing niche hobby AUs directly inspired me to write this fic with my own extremely niche dance hobby.

Being tall had its advantages, but Remus put effort into the pattern of step-back-leap-fallback to carry him through, and was rewarded by a whistle and a laugh that made him grin. He stepped back to watch Caradoc give it a go, clapping for the height he achieved, then Marlene and Lily who put in their own good effort, and Peter who gave it the good old college try and wobbled a little on the landing. 

James, skinny and lanky as he was, nevertheless popped himself into the air with the ease of a bird, and laughed, breathless, as he finished with a crowed “Top that!” to Sirius Black next to him

The smirk Sirius answered that with made Remus’s mouth go dry. 

He’d been right. When Sirius got the chance to take off the leash, he exploded into motion with a burst of energy to rival James.

Other results of the con-- I now want to write a bunch of super plotty and detailed IDW-univerese fic, as if I didn’t have enough to write already. I got like three pages of a First Aid at Delphi fic done on the plane...

Every time I write a brief character cameo into a fic, I get an urge to just make a fic about their life in that universe

It would be a neverending progression of new projects but I still kinda wish I could do it

It’s become so much easier to be satisfied with my work now that I allow myself as many drafts as I need to get it done. If my first draft or even my first few drafts are allowed to just be the blocking for everything I’ll fill in later, then I get to write out the shape of it without having to worry about the ugly words that come out the first time. It doesn’t matter that I can’t think of the perfect artistic phrase to describe the powerful revelation in a scene! I just need to know that I want something like that there. I can give myself as much time as I need to come up with that later. If I only know how the chapter ends, I can write that down, and then work my way towards it.

And ngl there’s something fun about seeing the rough work slowly polished until it’s something beautiful.

Etched excerpt

The editing brain has forsaken me for now, but even though I haven’t been able to make progress on that front, I’ve still been able to work some more on Etched, so have a snippet of what’s probably going to be chapter 10, the second-to-last chapter.

Ironhide met him in the lobby of the hospital.

Or, perhaps more accurately, he was storming through the lobby when Ratchet came down to meet him, and probably would have gotten farther if Ratchet had been just a bit slower. Instead, as soon as Ratchet stepped out of the elevators, Ironhide made straight for him.

“Ratchet!” he said, and Ratchet was thankful that he seemed to be at least attempting to keep his voice down. “What’s going on?”

“I told you it wasn’t an emergency, Ironhide,” Ratchet groaned. “You can stop itching to pull out your weapons.”

Ironhide gave Ratchet a very unimpressed look, and he sighed out through his vents. “Come on, get in the elevator and stop scaring the poor receptionist,” he said, beckoning Ironhide along. “I’ll tell you on the way up.”

It almost makes up for all the work it took to hit this point
