SEO formatting and best practices in writing a good article
If you have the money to pay for a well-written, customer engaging and an SEO friendly article – you can relax and just sit back. You don’t need to be concerned much about “best practices in writing articles” for your sales page or a blog post for your landing page.
Or if you have a team of the best SEO strategist, you don’t need to worry much as well. You will have enough fire-power to slingshot your content to the top of search engine results page.
On the other hand, if you don’t have the chance of having these opportunities, fret not – listen up and just follow these SEO formatting and best practices in writing a good article.
Page Title and Description
You have to intelligently create your page titles. Put your keywords visible on the title, make it unique on each page, engaging and appealing to readers.
In an SEO stand point, the maximum character of the title is 60. However, do not use this limitation to over trim the main idea that you want your readers to know. Remember that your titles are the doorways to your website.
For the description, always keep in mind to write it as compelling as possible. Make it always interesting to your readers. You can also include your keywords in it.
Header Tags
Search engines also give high importance on header tags. Header tags helps search engine determine what to expect in the content.
At the same time, these gives people a clearer idea of what the succeeding sentences would be.
Make sure that you include your keywords on the header tags. Try to utilize H1 to H5 but not to the extent to over use them.
Images
Images can give life to dull website content and a space for professionalism. Usually, you want to insert one or two images per article or depending on the need.
Additionally, optimize each image for page load speed. Do not clutter your page with heavy sized images because one of Google’s main criteria for rank is page load speed.
Give each image a filename and an alt tag that is relevant to your keyword so that search engines can determine what that image is all about. Search engines cannot directly identify images unless we give it a relevant filename and alt tag.

Semantic Keywords
Semantic keywords are important phrases or words that are included on your content that is related to your site. Usually, these are the keywords that automatically suggested when you type the first letter of the searched term in Google’s search bar.

The more LSI Keywords you’ve got, the better. But be careful enough not to keyword stuff your content because Google will penalize you instead of ranking it high.

Interlinking
Interlinking is nothing more than looking for opportunities to link related articles pages in your site. Although it sounds simple, it is easier said than done because not every blogger wants to go back and forth their previous blog posts and link them to more recent ones.
Well, you don’t need to agonize on that concern. There are several WordPress plugins that can help you with that problem. You can use YARPP or LinkWithin. On my site, I use a plugin called SEO Smart Links.
Controversial topic: Keyword Density
Defining Keyword Density –how many times you’ve used your keyword in the articles content versus the total number of words. For example, if the keyword “make money online” appeared three times in an article that has one hundred words, the keyword density is 3/100 or 3%.
Some say this is important to take measure, some say the other way – not important. In my opinion, as long as it makes sense to the readers and does not annoy them, I go for it. At the end of the day, we write for the benefit of our readers and not to search engines, right?
