My Writing Process: A Tragic Comedy
Stare at the blank page like it's a portal to another dimension.
Get up. Make tea. Procrastinate by staring out the window dramatically.
Write one sentence. Hate it. Delete it.
Whisper to myself: "I am a disaster. Why do I do this to myself?"
Finally, write something. It’s okay. It’s not okay. Back to tea.
Introduce a life-or-death situation for my characters.
Think, "Good luck, you poor souls. I sure hope you survive...but I’m not making any promises."
Repeat steps 1-7 forever.

This is maybe my favourite analysis of The Wheel of Time out of all I have listened to and watched on YouTube. A nice conversation between intelligent, well-spoken people, without the over-dramatic, over-emotional mannerisms typical for so many YouTubers. It feels that they are not trying so hard to be interesting or necessarily entertaining, they just having a discussion, a polite one. There are no pictures, no clips, no funny sound effects, and thankfully, no yelling and huge ups and downs in the sound. The thumbnail is the only thing in here, and that was the reason I sort of avoided it for a very long time even though it came up many times as a suggestion from Youtube, because I thought it was another channel that would mock the show because of it. It's not. But I only started to watch them after the S2 episode 6. There is a lack of overconfidence in their own opinion on some parts of the story, and then forget about or do not care if they are proven wrong later on, and I love that. These people have a great understanding of writing, which is an even bigger reason for me to pay attention. These two are the kind of people I would love to have as a company and just listen to their conversation over a beer or a glass of wine! A respectful conversation! Damn, I need those! The video discussions of the episodes are split between their two channels. They have discussions over S1 too.

Hey writeblr I've seen a lot of posts about how self insert characters are valid and i have a question
How do you not self insert?
I mean they say write about what you know and i only truly know myself so when i write about anything with characters i always put myself in their shoes so in a way every single character of mine is a self insert, right?
Doesn't mean it's completely me or i completely agree with their actions, even if it's not directly taken from real life experience it's all still me. It can't be anyone else cuz i wrote it! Does it makes any sense?
Idk when you write do you see the characters doing stuff as a side viewer? Cuz im always in my characters head, i know what their thinking about, how they feel, what they're thinking about doing and what they'll actually do.
Maybe it's because i started from acting but it's just very hard for me to imagine writing fully fleshed out round characters without self inserting to a degree.
Tell me what you think please, this is very interesting! Am i alone in this? If so what's your opinion on the matter?
