This is why I can't write tonight
If you can sit down and write something and NOT get distracted, than I applaud you because everytime I sit down to write, something always gets in the way. Like needing to check my emails or figuring out why Game of Thrones ended the way it did.
Write and Rewrite: When the Butter Slipped off the Noodle
Write and Rewrite: When the Butter Slipped off the Noodle
Writers will tell you there’s no such thing as finished copy. That’s the result of two things: the internal editorial voices telling them to write with laser precision, and the after-the-fact changes that come when revisiting a piece. I get asked, “Are you done writing?” a lot. The answer is usually, “No.” Rarely am I satisfied. Sometimes I’ve spent too much time writing a piece, staring at the…

My new kitty. He's the reason why FtGoG au part 4 is taking a little longer to come out. This lil guy here keeps following me around while meowing for attention and scaling my legs to get to my shoulders. One of those attention hogger 'love me now meowww' kind of cats. He's a big distraction. Now that he's completely exhausted, hopefully I can put in some quality writing time and maybe get FtGoG au part 4 out today.
Mockingbird Lane *SPOILERS* (sort of)
I'm trying to work on my Alice/Hatter fanfic and am kind of stuck, so I thought I'd take a break to comment on Mockingbird Lane.
There is this new show which is a remake of the Munsters. I remember watching episodes of the Munsters as a child. I even recall the movie they made. I'll admit, I was young enough at the time that as we were watching the first episode of Mockingbird Lane I kept expect characters from the Adams Family to show up.
I will say two things about the show.
1. I really liked it. It was funny, but also kind of serious. They presented somewhat real concerns in this unreal sort of way that made you laugh, left you a little uncomfortable, and very thoughtful. I'm going to watch the next episode to see if the show maintains that kind of mix.
2. I was NOT digging Eddie Izzard's make up. The entire time I was like "ew!" I get that he was playing Grandpa and an older character, but it was so unnerving. He played the character wonderfully and definitely made it his own, but for the majority of the episode I just had a hard time looking at him. The good news is: there was a reason for the make up and they solved it by the end of the first episode. That is all I will say.
3. (Now, I realized this is more than two). I really like the re-imaging of the Herman Munster character. It doesn't hurt that Jerry O'Connell is a hottie. The make up job on him is very interesting and I'm really digging it. I keep wondering if they are trying to make it look like his arms are different lengths, or if that is just an illusion created by the placement of the scars on his arms.
LONG STORY SHORT: I recommend at least watching the first episode and seeing if it catches your interest. ALSO just found out this show is together by the same people who did Pushing Daisies. I loved that show.
