I would like to start this post by saying that you are never too old for blanket forts. Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise. Blanket forts can be a source of coziness and isolation for when you’re feeling anxious or overwhelmed, are looking for a unique idea for date night, or just want to relive some of your childhood memories. Below I will provide a list of supplies as well as pictures of my own blanket fort setup. Please feel free to reblog with pics of your own forts or any supplies I may have missed!
Blankets - large and small
Pillows, couch cushions, decorative cushions
Chairs or other furniture to drape blankets over
Rubber bands or hair ties
Bean bag chair or something else comfy to sit on
Any necessary electronicals (TV, game system, iPad, ect.)
Something to drink (keep hydrated, babes!)
Coloring books/markers/colored pencils
A bag, backpack, bin, or basket to keep everything organized
Here‘s my fort. I live in a garage apartment that I am slowly improving, so please pardon the unfinished wall. It does have 12-foot ceilings, though, so I’m not complaining. I used a king-sized fleece blanket for the roof and one of my mom’s kitchen chairs for extra support. Helpful hint: If you have the seat of the chairs on the inside of the fort, they’re less likely to turn over and you can use the seats as a shelf.
I used a smaller fleece blanket to cover the floor and I bought this amazing beanbag chair in Walmart. It was $35 but it’s worth every penny. Before I was sitting on a chair cushion on the floor and it killed my back after a while.
Here’s my entertainment setup. I left enough room between the TV and the chair so I can get out and put my PS3 in the chair so it wouldn’t get stepped on if I lost my balance or something.
And here’s my something to watch. I’ve been in the mood for my favorite cartoons lately.
I keep my notebooks and things in this adorable cactus backpack (also found in Walmart for $6).
My notebooks and comfy socks, all of which came from the Dollar Tree.
My fur baby, Spunky, always stops in to check things out, and I have concrete floors, so of course she needed something comfy to lay on, too.
One wall of my fort is my bookcase, so I have ample reading material.
Well, that’s about it. I’m posting from the app and I’ve reached my pic limit. I hope you enjoyed my post. Good luck building your forts!
