Prompt List Request OPEN & Random Asks Welcome
(Also my asks are always open for anything fun, chatty-stuff, character or worldbuilding questions, I love answering them)
Specifically for the worldbuilding and whump community
I have no problem receiving asks, requests, or suggestions. In fact I like getting and answering them. The easiest way to get me to see and remember your requests is by sending it as an ask. I will not take art requests; otherwise I'd be doing commissions. Writing is a favorite pass time of mine, and I enjoy writing for you all.
I love
Worldbuilding knowledge
Descriptive writing
Fantasy (Especially urban Fantasy)
Nonhuman creatures
Military Whump & Apocalypse Whump
P.S. you will notice that I don't fully understand the definition of prompt
I have a sideblog where I post video game vague post @dezertvideogames
And here's a sideblog where I post about art, history, social justice, and science
Several AI services (chatbots ) are purposely addictive, the same way people can become addicted to gambling or shopping. We’ve literally seen in real time how ChatGPT has caused psychosis and delusions in people; it can have a huge affect on someones’s mental stability. Just because it isn’t substance-based doesn’t mean that doesn’t count as an addiction, and shaming people who are trying to move on and improve themselves is counterproductive. Im proud of that dude and his 4 month mark!
Then I'll mention the predatory chatbots who do it on purpose! Character.ai is one of many AI chatbot websites that're designed to be addictive.
None of the signup methods require a password. It only takes email and birthday. Minimizing time on the signin or signup screen makes it harder for people quitting to avoid relapse.
"Characters" on the website will send messages "on their own" (prompted by the site) to try to invite inactive users back after as soon as 1 day of inactivity. This is likely to force FOMO, or make users feel more like they owe the bots a response. Unhealthy attachment stuff.
Account deletion is an essential part of every service that should go smoothly, right? Right? Wrong. It takes 1-2 weeks for a Character AI account deletion to be finalized, and account deletion requests have a high chance to not go through if you're not using the app.
Rephrasing: People leaving Character.AI are pushed to download the app in order to delete their accounts, if they haven't already. This makes it harder for people to quit and stay gone. Failing to quit an addiction makes it harder to quit successfully in the future, so this feels like a feature, not a bug.
On top of that, the delete account menu reads like this:
Tell me THAT doesn't sound like a bad ex. It's a carefully crafted yet hostile environment to those who are already addicted to the technology. I am so so SO happy, downright delighted that they've managed to quit, and I wish the best for others in recovery spaces or considering quitting as well!! While AI addiction is an emerging condition, there are already therapists and other mental health professionals trained to help people plan to quit and do so a bit easier.
(If anyone seeing this is in need of them, there are several tumblr Communities here devoted to quitting, too. They provide a mix of advice, venting spaces, and proof that you aren't alone.)
feels like some of u aren't properly appreciating the fact that he sleeps in a berry patch. and he rolls over and squishes the berries into his fur. because he's so sleepy and content.
i do find the rules around clothes fascinating because of how made up it all is. we invented the idea of covering our bodies from the elements because we lack fur like other mammals and then made up all these rules around it and now people will unironically tell you "men cant wear skirts its unnatural" girl none of this is natural. we are born naked and made up the rest as we went along. hope this helps.
This might be a hot take, but I think that the internet is so fat phobic that most of those comments you see tearing people down for their chubby pets, aren't actually doing it out of concern for an animals health, but instead out of the satisfaction they get telling someone else that their pet isn't cute at all because itsssss fat
When in all reality, yes an obese animal could be that way from health neglect or abusive carelessness, but 9/10 times that isn't the problem and I'm pretty sure they know that
These commentors do not know these people, their pets, or any of the reasons why their pet is chubby. The captions or description could literally be "this is Molly, she's a rescue and we're helping her lose some weight" and 1/3 of the comments will be "This is NOT cute. This animal abused. Your baby girl is suffering and she will die early and miserable."
Meanwhile the supposed Molly is straight up playing, purring, and eagerly awaiting their owners attention; oh and also isn't that overweight in terms of pet obesity
I am no addiction specialist, just someone who grew up around addicts and have had my own experience with addictions myself, but I see a humongous amount of misinformation on addiction on this hellsite
"I'm addicted to oxygen." "I'm addicted to breathing." "I'm addicted to sleeping once per day" SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP
Addiction DOES NOT equal dependency. I'm grabbing you guys by the collar right now as I say this, but if you have to do something everyday because it keeps you alive it's not an addiction, ITS A DEPENDENCY.
An addiction is something that you are compelled to do, even when the negatives outweigh the positives, often with the threat of withdrawals
A dependency can become an addiction BUT this doesn't look like simply doing that something every day. Which reminds me...
"There is no such thing as food addiction." "There is no such thing as porn addiction."
I hate to break it to you, but there is. Yes, technically you can be addicted to anything. There are people out there who are addicted to unusual or strange things. I have a pizza addiction. I'm not lying. I used to eat up to five pizzas a week, often times multiple pizzas a day, even if it made me sick, even when I ran out of moneyyyyyyy
But the reason why the terms video game addiction, food addiction, and porn addiction exist is because the nature of our brains make these super enjoyable common task more susceptible to becoming addictions. i.e. gambling addiction. i.e. shopping addiction
The surplus fun, pleasure, or relief we get from these things makes the brain want more. If you have an addictive personality, your brain is obsessive about that more. And when an addiction becomes more, it isn't as simple as wanting to do something again.
It's to want it in crazier ways, bigger amounts, with more shock, more pleasure than last time. The original thing that you liked for fun slowly becomes not enough. You need bigger portion sizes, crazier more experimental smut, higher competitive ranks in order to feel the SAME pleasure as last time. It's not a boredom, it's a numbness.
Gym addiction is also very common, but you're going to see less people speak on it, because it doesn't fit within societal standards influenced by fatphobia and puritan culture, despite gym addiction also being caused by brain chemicals.
These can exists, and again, if its not ruining your life or destroying your health, it's likely not an addiction.
"ADHD medication is addictive-" This is actually more complicated than that.
Adderall and Ritalin are stimulants. Most people with ADHD will NOT be able to become addicted to adderall and ritalin, especially if it works for them as a medication, because it makes their brains function more normally because they're originally running on a brain chemical deficient. But if the average person takes adderall or ritalin, and especially they don't have ADHD, they can become addicted because it makes their brain produce a surplus of brain chemicals they wouldn't normally experience.
For general safety reasons doctors and pharmaceutical companies have to admit that this medicine can be addictive to some people, even if most patients who would be prescribed these meds aren't able to become addicted to them.
Now antidepressants and sleep meds are more complicated than that, but I don't feel like getting into that here, because then this post would be one thousand years long (but I would get to show off some of my college knowledge tho)
Also medically speaking the FDA requires pharmaceutical companies to mark certain medication as addictive, even if they're not traditionally addictive per say, but based on the severity of their withdrawals, which we often see with a lot of antidepressants.
As for drug-drugs they also cause leaps in chemicals in the brain, as well as can remove certain feelings and sensations, often causing people who are addicted to drugs to want to seek them out again, not just on compulsion but to avoid facing the withdrawals and true feelings.
For instance a lot of people who do crack-cocaine do it not only because it is one of the most addictive drugs on the planet (and incredibly harsh on the brain & body), but because it takes away the urge to need to sleep, eat, and the ability to feel depressed.
"drink to forget" that's what people say because these kinds of things can numb the feelings in the moment, and then make them feel 10x worse when they come flooding back.
My final note... withdrawals are not to be messed with. If you are addicted to something, and you're planning to quit it, do your research. Some things are not to be quit cold turkey. Im being serious, don't quit alcohol cold turkey, it WILL KILL YOU. No you'll genuinely have a heart attack and die. Alcoholism is no joke.
And my final final note, if you are going to drug-drugs, especially if you're a psychonaut, party goer, or recreational user, do so with safe company. Don't do that shit alone. The last thing you want is to wake up from a bad trip, naked, in a ditch, and completely lost.
Thank you for listening to me talk about addiction, safe scrolling!!!
Reluctant Vampire Whumper my beloved. Imagine them shyly explaining why they need whumpee, the hunger obvious on their face with their tired eyes and the way their tongue lines their fangs. The instant guilt that washes over them as they drink of whumpee, trying to ignore whumpee's screams and begging words.
Still rocking an NFT icon in this day and age is like seeing a confederate flag on the back of someone’s truck. You lost 100 years ago, fucker, it’s over.
