Use Environment Description To Do More
Sequel to old post of mine -> [x] Use Character Appearance To Do More
Similar to character appearance, environment description holds more power that author's can often fail to estimate. You can easily use environment description to not only ground the characters in a scene and world, but also dish out world building, in-world history, and even character personality
Things you can use environment description to do (but not limited to)
Tell the weather, seasons, and time of day
Bring out the world's architecture
Hint at what's happened in this environment before
Show world built cultures
Detail the condition of the place
Describe the economic state of the area and its people
Reveal the types of inhabitants
Reflect on how characters feel about the place
Hint at the place's amount of safety towards characters
Apply Red Herrings, Chekhov's guns, or similar
Display the world's uniqueness or even blandness
Perhaps show how the events of the story are affecting it
