Submission FAQ's

There are no strict rules on submissions and no specific format that you need to use, this FAQ is just here in case you have any questions 😘 Also cheeky little link to my masterlist can be found here

Which characters do you write for? As my username suggests, I write for Marvel characters - the only ones I personally wouldn't want to write for are the X-Men. I've had requests for characters I didn't know well, I'm happy to put in the research. If I haven't written for your chosen character yet it's probably not because I won't, I just haven't had a request or an idea for them.

I'd like a fic about 'X Character' but don't have an idea No worries - send me a request anyways and I'll come up with something. Whether you want a character I haven't written for yet or you just feel I haven't written a particular one in a while, I'm happy to come up with something! I'm also happy for you to just suggest a vibe for example fluff or angst or you can just say the character :)

Is there anything you're uncomfortable writing? My only hard boundary is that I will not write about minors in relationships with adults. If you're not sure about anything then feel free to send me a message 😘

I'm sorry to send another request- Do not be sorry! Please don't ever be sorry! I promise you that my heart soars when I see I've had a request come through - if you think of five at once then send me five requests, I'll never be annoyed :)

I sent a request and you've posted a few fics but not mine :( As long as it's made it into my inbox it will definitely get written though I can't guarantee when. I don't write the requests in order for a variety of reasons so if you submit a different request later and that one gets posted first, it's not because I'm ignoring your first request - everything gets posted eventually ❤️

When will my fic be posted? I balance writing around work and socialising etc. so whilst I try to post daily I can't guarantee when a fic will be posted other than 'eventually' 😅 As I said above fics aren't posted in order, it could be quite quick if the prompt is relatively easy, if it's more complex it might take longer or if I need to research the character you want - keep an eye out because I wouldn't ignore a request, it'll get posted eventually!

I liked 'X Fic' but wish it had ended differently I do get requests for alt endings and I'm never offended, I'm happy to switch it up. I know I lean towards happier endings whilst some of you prefer the angsty endings so I'm happy to explore different alternates. I often end up enjoying the alt endings more and base part two on the alt ending anyway so don't be afraid to suggest one!

I submitted a Part Two request and you didn't really follow it :( Sometimes certain fics are popular and they get a lot of Part Two requests, most of them quite similar. If that's the case I'll group them together and try to incorporate everyone's ideas - I'm happy to post multiple part twos if people go in different directions but a lot are so similar it would be too much repetition to give them all whole separate fics. Please don't take it personally, it's not that your idea is 'bad', it's just that I'm grouping them altogether 😘 Do you write NSFW? Technically yes, I do have some NSFW works on my page but it's not really my speciality so I fear you will be disappointed if you want NSFW. You're welcome to read the NSFW works I have up and if you decide you still want to you can send it through and I will do my best 🥰 Only thing to note is that I don't do g!p smut - I'm willing to include it if it's relevant to the plot (leading to a pregnancy or similar) but not in smut fics.

Can I send my request anonymously? Yep, anon submissions are on :) If you want to be a regular on my page you can use an emoji to signify if you're a returning anon or you can just remain completely anonymous, totally up to you!

Here’s my writing FAQ!

Main rule: I have the right to decide what to write and what not to. I am providing a service free of charge. I do not owe anyone anything nor am I to write things that make me uncomfortable or are not my place to write.

Who do I write for?

- currently I am writing for: Reagan Ridley, JR Scheimpough, Glenn Dolphman, Gigi Thompson, Brett Hand, Robotus Alpha-Beta, Andre Lee, and Myc!

Do you take requests/are they open?

- yes I do and currently they are not open!

What types of requests are you taking?

- I take several types of requests, including:

Drabbles/imagines for specific characters x reader with certain pronouns or gender specificity

Ships in which you tell me about yourself and I ship you with a character from the cast of inside job

Examples of things you can include about yourself (that you are comfortable with sharing) for ships are your: age, hobbies, height, physical characteristics + traits (aka hair color, eyes, etc), special interests, personality, music taste, interesting facts, talents, clothing style, and more!

Ficlets/fics where I write a fanfic, either short to medium length, about your given prompt or plot + character and reader presentation

Headcanons where you give me a prompt or idea/concept regarding a specific character or characters, can be x reader, and I write what I think they’d do with the prompt given

What will I not write/what am I willing to write?

- sfw: I’m game to write about anything as long as it’s not problematic or abusive/harmful towards others.

- nsfw: I will not write scat, certain fetishes, water sports, non-consensual or cnc smut, pet play, student/teacher, yandere/tsudere, and etc.

Do you like comments/reblogs/etc from your posts or about your posts?

- it’s my drug of choice, you reblog or comment on my work with any reaction at all and I’m immediately in love with you.

Do you write for specific x readers?

- YES! I write for fem!readers, afab!readers, and gn!readers. I don’t really write for male!readers due to the fact I’m a cis-woman I feel it may not be my place to do so and do so accurately. However, when it comes to other specifics I try to be as vague concerning physical traits and characteristics as possible so people of any gender or race feel welcome. If there’s language or writing that indicates otherwise or describes a certain type of reader rather than one you can identify with, let me know so I can improve and rectify that!

How do you know an idea is good?

People ask: Where do you get your ideas. But the real question they want to ask, is how do you get your concepts so quickly? How does this creativity work?

New writers worry about getting new ideas. This post will cover that so you don't end up stealing some other writer's ideas and then get someone really upset at you.

1. You've spent your life reading widely EVERYTHING.

That means you've been reading cereal boxes, foreign media, watching and analyzing foreign commercials. You've read different demographics and genres within and from outside of your genre. You have a good grasp on the history of your genre and others like and dissimilar to it. You've consumed media that was terrible just to analyze it. Sometimes something you hate but others love. Consume nonfiction too. You should know about clown fish changing their sex, for example.

I say Akira Kurosawa and you say, yawn--I saw that ages ago--influenced sword fighting movies and is Jo Ha Kyo. I say, hey-- Miyazaki... you go meh, Kishotenketsu using environmental issues. I say but do you know the return element of Parasite. Oh that's nothing, you should see the drama Greatest Marriage. Ah, but have you seen Star Wars Holiday Special for one of the worst movies ever. No Duh... Grandfather Wookie in his chair?

2. 90% unfamiliar 10% familiar.

That's the rule. So two things people know. Then mix them to be unfamiliar as possible. This is creativity.

The argument for this goes... say you've seen someone you recognize, but you don't know why you recognize them. You can't retrieve their name. They are out of context. This psychologically is more likely to bother you more than anything else.

3. Personal enough to you that you will be invested in it.

Make the idea so unique and so you and take so much research that no one else sane will be able to pull it off the same way you do even if you give up that 10% familiar bit they won't want to do it.

This rule comes from comedy: In the specific there is the general, but if you try to hit the general, you please no one. If you are specific to issues you know and care about you can reach everyone. (Shorter version of this could really replace the “Write what you know” rule which is poorly written.

4. Between two unrelated things and make them related and argue for it.

This is one way that authors get ideas and why showers, walks and dreams work so well. It's association games. The space between whatever someone hasn't done and isn't on the market, but looks familiar is usually a good idea.

You can steal this idea: I want Edward and Jacob in a gay romance story with Bella as the Fujoshi where they go to off-Broadway musicals together. Extra points for a sparkling vampire wolf cub and a mystery inserted. Two unrelated things: vampires. Werewolves. Make them gay and in love with each other. And then Bella is the third wheel. People wanted to steal my lesser ideas. But not this one? C'mon writes itself.

5. The obvious idea everyone hasn't done yet but you can do better.

Everyone on the market is doing vampires. But you want to do Japanese vampire lore. Or everyone is clamoring for dragons--then where are the wyvern? The direction others don’t take, but seem obvious--take that one. Steal lines from other authors should have taken.

Notes about etiquette:

While it's not "illegal" to take another writer's idea, the least you can do is give them credit for said idea and keep track of where your ideas came from. Don't steal their entire system, their plotline, their hook and then congratulate yourself. It's going to catch up to you. You're going to run dry and people will full on resent you for it. If they can connect you back to posts they made trying to get input on their ideas, then they will air their grievances to the public and you'll look like an uncreative hack and feel like one. ‘cause deep down you know you stole from someone else.

If you want an idea these are the basics you should follow:

- Ask them first. Also take the no and be upfront how much of the idea you would like to take, words, phrases, etc.

- Record and GIVE THEM EFFING CREDIT. Ask if and how they want credit. In the acknowledgements? Do it. If they don't want credit, you can anonymize them and still not take credit for the idea. It's not yours.

- Make sure the person is published before you are with that idea iof they have not discarded it.

- If it's an old idea, ask them about the idea first and see if they've abandoned it or not. Let them know your intentions.

- Don't be a leech. Learn to be creative. If not, there are other jobs in publishing for you.

It's better to take an idea from an writer that's published so they get the credit for it because sometimes their idea is more complex than your shallow facsimile and if you had let them finish their research, you could have benefited the community as a whole in the first place. Besides, you didn't spawn it people will feel the difference. (Magic Kingdom Sold, I'm looking at you.) I share only 10% of my ideas usually. And believe me, being undercut without being paid isn't fun. People will forever remember you're a hack and you’ll also feel that imposter syndrome forever and I think you deserve to feel it. You can do better.

Beat Sheets Vs. Outlines

Beat Sheets vs Outlines

A beat sheet is essentially your pre-outline outline. Unlike your outline, which may have 1-5 sentences building out each beat, for now you just want to get down the basic plot movement of your script. Once you have your framework worked out, both plotwise and emotionally, it’ll be easy to go back and fill it in for your outline, then eventually write as your script. This is the ~breaking of your story~ so try to work out any major plot kinks at this stage that you can.

Example

Your beat sheet doesn’t have to get too specific yet. An example of a beat sheet for a first act could be:

-Intro Shelby

-Intro Shelby’s friend, Joseph.

-Joseph calls Shelby, saying he needs help with a favor

-Shelby goes to Joseph’s, where she sees a big rug that needs to be moved

-Shelby and Joseph go to the dump, where they drop off the rug

-Shelby goes home

-Shelby gets a call from the cops, asking if she knows where Joseph’s roommate is, who has been missing for 2 days now

Nothing has been filled in too much, for now we’re just given the major plot points. Now, this is what you’ll use for your outline. Whereas your beat sheet should be 1-3 pages, an outline can be anywhere from 3-10 depending on your style. I try to aim for somewhere between 4-6 depending on the episode.

To make your outline, take your beat sheet and plug in some specifics around each beat, including any stray dialogue lines or jokes you’d like to remember. The more ideas you jot down and organize now, the easier your script will be.

Let’s take our first 2 beats and outline them now:

-Intro Shelby

Open on a messy bedroom. We hear an iPhone alarm RING, and a hand reach out to turn it off. The same hand then reaches out to grab a bottle of ORANGE SODA, from which SHELBY (24, all over the place but doesn’t like to be) swigs, covering her face with the bottle

-Intro Shelby’s friend, Joseph.

Another hand pulls down a cup, this time of coffee. JOSEPH (25, extremely put together on the outside, a mystery on the inside), sits at a clean, tidy IKEA kitchen table, listening to an NPR broadcast on his computer.

Here we’ve added to our simple beats, giving us a clearer picture of what will end up going in the script.

You can send as many requests as you want — just please send each one in a separate ask, not all combined into one

Preferably female or gender neutral, tho I do want to start writing for male reader too

9. Are there any characters you won't do in each fandom?

I my pinned posts you can see all of the fandoms I write for, and the characters in them alphabetically, always can ask about other characters in those fandoms or other

10. Can we request characters from different fandoms in a request? 

I am fine with this

11. Are there any topics you won't do like rape, suicide, etc?

I won't write gore, rape, anything connected with piss, religious and political themes, any kind of really heavy abuse, incest (even implied)
