Who are we writing for?

I caught a snippet of a discussion in which I was not really involved, yesterday, about the two souls of fantasy fighting each other. The crux of the contention was, should writers play for the high-brow, sophisticated readers, or should they be down-and-dirty, catering for the lowest common denominator?

Shougo : what is nii-san?

Rei : proposing (nonchalant)

Shougo : huh? (Surprised) what?

Rei : what's what?

Shougo : i mean, what kind of proposing? (Flustered)

Rei : marriage of course...

Shougo : with Haruka-san!?

Rei : (fazed) Shougo, you're my brother, aren't you? Who else im currently dating right now? Please...

When your posts are so long...

It gets hard for me to sit down sometimes to get them done!  

What’s worse is if you’re like me and not only can you not help but let ALL your thoughts flow out as you’re writing...but you find you write best if you do it all in one sitting -_-

How do you write, by hand, on the laptop, on a tablet? Do you outline? Or you wing it? What's your ideal writing conditions?

I write on either my desktop or laptop, whichever computer I happen to be using at the time! My handwriting is atrocious unless I write very slowly.

I outline depending on the story - R&R has an outline, but other fics just have bullet points written down - and for most oneshots or short fics I wing it haha. 

Ideal writing conditions is quiet, alone, no background noises or distractions - I’m much more efficient if I’m just focused on whatever I’m writing haha.
