For @zennihilation. This I brainstormed while working on my Clone! Series but then figured out it would work better as something else (thanks @julie-spirit-finn and @thebarghestiest)

You were being sent out with Ghost, standard stealth and infil mission in some place you weren't supposed to tread. It was a normal rhythm these days, you and the Lieutenant running ops together. You two had always been close, so much so that the base had speculated in the months after Soap's death. And one drunken night of grief, there was almost a whisper of a spark. But you were not Johnny, and neither was he.

If you think about it...what is reality? Better worded: what manifests the reality as we know it? What allows us to be aware that reality is a thing and we are part of it?

Our senses.

Reality would cease to exist if our senses ceased to exist.

If we could not touch, taste, smell, see, or hear — reality would no longer be a thing.

It is the amazing functions of our God-given senses that allow us the awareness that we are alive, we are here.

If you took away what allows us to know we exist, there would be nothing.

Darkness, silence, couldn’t taste, smell or feel food, couldn’t feel the sensation of touching or being touched, couldn’t feel hot or cold or the sunlight on your face, wouldn’t even know the sunlight existed anymore, total darkness, total silence, total nothingness. We would quit eating because there would be no point. We wouldn’t be able to see, smell or touch the food or water to find it. We would starve and all of humanity would die within weeks of losing our senses.

Reality as we know it would cease to exist if everyone woke up tomorrow without their senses. These aspects of life that seem small in the mundane of each day, we tend to take for granted, but they are really such an important part of who we are and what life means for humanity.

Being grateful for shelter and warmth and food and water is awesome, but man, I’m pretty grateful for my senses.
