An Open Book Test We Failed
There are thousands of these versions of this same quote and meaning floating all over social media.
The world that we knew prepandemic is gone. This is the new version of America and our world.
People think midterms or presidential elections will change things going forward.
That's not the case.
America was given a choice in 2024.
Everything that's happening before us was laid out and explained all over the internet. From Project 2025 to the incoming Project Esther, the plans of the Heritage Foundation, billionaires, and Christian nationalist Republicans, were well known.
Our major news media sources didn't commit to continuous and elaborate coverage. Most of the coverage was bland at best, often skeptical or misinformed. Right-wing media, of course, dismissed it, manipulating the narrative and outcomes to unsuspecting viewers, while rewording and retooling the same message.
Our politicians and political nominees distanced themselves and lied to the American people. But still, regardless of all the red flags and facts out there, hateful and uneducated voters voted for fascism in America.
America had an open book test, and we failed.
There is no going back. The U.S. economy is crashing, regardless of what the government's skewed and false numbers may tell you. A depression looms. People are losing healthcare and SNAP benefits.
Trumps government is hoarding tariff money that the American people have paid and is redistributing it back among its 1% and donors.
The Federal Reserve is moving money to the banks. The dollar is plummeting, and bitcoin, which is owned by oligarchs and Trump, and the rest of his cronies are growing in significant value.
Poor people voted for rich people, thinking that rich people understood what poor people and working class citizens go through.
They were fooled. And it was by design. People are easily gullible and foolable because they take words and people at face value and they want to believe in a higher good, but really, America was conned. Conned by the biggest con man ever, in Donald Trump.
The sad thing is, is the con was noticeable.
It was blatant.
It was right in front of you.
But still, blinded by ignorance and hatred, America refused to see the facts laid out in front of them.
They couldn't fathom voting for a qualified woman - a black woman, no less, who had a funny laugh.
So they chose a felon, a rapist, and a morally depleted human to lead our free world in the future.
Instead, we found ourselves going backward. Human and civil rights are being revoked in front of us. Our 401ks are losing money, jobs are disappearing, people are hungry, education is being slashed, and the working and middle class is disappearing right before our eyes.
But she had a funny laugh.
But give credit where credit's due. The Heritage Foundation took decades to plan this. They knew their target audience. They knew that they could create fears out of race, gender identity falsehoods, brown and black people, misleading facts and information, breaking down and dismissing the media, and destroying every social outlet that Americans have come to know.
They labeled socialism as bad touting freebies in the face of hard-working Americans that were blatantly false, but nobody took the time to actually research what was being said.
Christian Nationalist knew that they would never be fact-checked. They knew that nobody was ever going to stand up and say what they were saying was wrong. They knew the media was complacent and privately owned and would never call them out directly.
And they were right. They were all right.
So they targeted angry white young men screaming oppression and fear, conned rural America, and secured 48% of the Hispanic vote.
It was an open book test, and we failed.
So yes, 2019 was the last year of America.
