In the city of Pujar, on a sidewalk beside a road, which was surprising undisturbed for a city road, an adult cat could be seen walking with a kitten following behind him. The adult cat was a tom, short-furred and mainly black with a white chin and chest. He had stressed and tired looking yellow eyes, his back had a bunch of obvious scars running across it, and he walked at a brisk pace. The kitten that was following him was a she-cat with long fluffy orange tabby fur and grey eyes. The tom's gaze then shifted back as he looked at the kitten. "Hurry up Isabell, we need to see how...your...Mother's doing," he said, with some obvious hesitation before he said a couple words. The kitten apparently called Isabell, was silent at first, before then speaking in her usual quiet tone. "I know...Dad." There was some obvious hesitation before she said the word 'Dad', she didn't call him that often, only occasionally and the word still felt weird a bit wrong on her tongue when she used it for him. He wasn't her real Dad after-all, he wasn't even her adopted or step one, and she still had memories of her real Dad.
You see, Isabell's real Father had died when she was younger, and in more recent events her real Mother had died as well, so the "Mother" he had been referring to was her adopted one, the one who had taken her in after her last parent had died. But even before that had happened, her adopted Mother and the black and white tom had been good friends with her parents, and had known her since her birth. So in a way, they had been family even before what had happened to her real Mother. Anyways, after the words she had spoken Isabell's thought process began rolling.
Ug, no, I did not actually know that until just now; just like I don't know why...Mom, is making me stay with Onyx right now. Besides, why is he telling me to hurry up if we're just going to check on her for what-ever reason..? Also, I can tell from where we are that we're super close to Mom's home, so in the end, I guess I just don't get why I have to hurry up if we're pretty close and we're just seeing how she's doing, thought Isabell with hidden annoyance. After her words, another thing happened, the tom now learned to be called Onyx expression changed into one of surprise as she called him Dad, because like mentioned earlier, she didn't call him that often.
A small smile finally formed on Onyx's face, as he said in a some-what quiet voice. "...Good." He then turned his gaze ahead and put his focus on moving forward again instead of Isabell. After a bit more walking, the two reached the alley where Isabell's adopted Mother reside as they turned and entered it. They then continued down the alley for a bit until they reached a crate. Behind this crate, was Isabell's adopted Mother, who was a brown she-cat with white paws, chest, and tail-tip, and as soon as they saw her, Isabell's face changed to one of surprise while Onyx's changed to one of joy. For laying right at her belly, was a brown and white newborn kit.
