it can't quite explain this feeling

I've heard so much about mending broken hearts, with time, with love, with the right person

but I never hear about the hearts that are so shattered they can never fit back together

I never hear about the hearts that have been betrayed and tormented countless times

I never hear about how guarded and closed off our hearts become, and how truly nothing feels as though it can break through

I never hear about how deep, whirl wind, soul tied love feels impossible - is my heart even capable anymore ?

I never hear, about hearts like mine

I no longer ask myself why. I refuse to question things further. What we allow to slip through the shadows as humans was supposed to be to some degree. It'll strengthen me, before it'll ever kill me. I know things have changed and we've became who we've become. We turned into the people our parents warned us about. The ones they swore we should've avoided. But, I'm learning how to navigate this life without regretting a thing. Because, how else would I learn freedom of choice without making a few mistakes in the darkness. We know what we're supposed to do but, the freedom to do as we please causes us to falter. The people they warned us about were mere imperfect humans trying to survive life, just like us. So, what are we so afraid of? The uncertainty of life or the disappointment of knowing? The rarity of living or the security of simply surviving? I don't want to die here - unfulfilled and lulled to sleep by my downfalls. I'd rather live here - fulfilled by my passions and dreams while finding a new way to make it. So, like I said...I'm no longer questioning...just doing as much as possible.

it’s important to remember what we allow to slip through the shadows is always hard to retrieve for me it was my anger i let it go when i was young anger lived in the holes in the walls, in the words in the air, in my father’s eyes i did not want anger to live in me, too but as i grew older, it was not there when I needed it a classmate pushed me on the playground and i wondered what i’d done my brother called me names and i sighed and shut my mouth my grandmother judged and criticized and i reshaped myself like clay around the snide remarks no one ever told me that anger could be more than yelling through the night and not talking in the morning or holes in the walls  and leverage, leverage, leverage no one ever told me it could help be careful of throwing things away before you learn their value --r.a.b. @writtenconsiderations

Allowed to Slip Through

What do you allow to slip through your shadows...

Is there room for the light of a new day that can chase away your shades

Can you begin to see light at the end of every tunnel and around each corner

With this do your shadows then begin to simply slide further away into the recesses of your heart and mind, leaving you room to put on a good face until the night returns

In the light of day do your shadows plot to keep you awake in the night reminding you of all your faults as they dance in the darkness of your now lightless being...

Allow in the light, so much light that it leaves the shadows and shades of your life nowhere to reside

Make them flee from you in such away that they can only return as a passing thought that is quickly whisked away without any concern of their existence

What do you allow to slip through your shadows, there is nothing allowed to pass them by but the light you hold that makes them run away if you want them to...
