he wipes the blood from his mouth, for once one of these low lives finally got a good scratch on him, then he turns around and quirks an eyebrow. “yeah well” there really is not a time that he doesn’t remember without any demons of some sort, or somebody bothering him. 

“it’s been like that since i’ve been born” probably a slight exaggeration but it’s still the same thing. 

“being the demon security guard of a whole island helps dealing with all that” he sighs, remembering the days where the kids would warn him about incoming dangers, any demons that would show up and he would feel so invincible dealing with all that, not expecting a thank you in return, just doing what he’s supposed to do. he almost wants to go back to those times “how’d you deal with all that?” he fully assumes that he’s had to deal with probably worse than what he had to, maybe willingly put himself in battles that he was just too weak to deal with (he remembers urizen and how nero was blinded by this need to prove to dante that he could help him, return the favor of saving his life). “were you ever scared?”
