Thinking about how Judy as a cop solves cases by ignoring the rules and regulations of being a cop.
In the first movie, she goes to what is essentially, by police rules, a criminal to solve the case. Then in the sequel, she goes on the lam while trying to protect/prove the innocence of the main culprit.
(There is a case to be made in the sequel that she’s dealing more with the wealthy land-grabbers (classism) dictating the narrative, but it still plays a part in how the police handle Judy and Nick’s “turnabout”.)
