How Dancing Changed My Life
I’ve been dancing for nearly 3 years now and I can say it changed me. Not only dancing itself as much as the people I danced with in the crews.
Tbh the first crew I danced in wasn’t so “warm” and I couldn’t integrate properly with the people there. And that went on for 2 years. 2 YEARS! More than half of my dancing life!
I left the crew in December (officially) and taught I’ll never dance again, only if it comes to parties.
The New Year’s Eve: I danced a lot. Every night I went clubbing: rocked the floor.
This went on until April, when I was like “Hmm, nothing to do home. Let’s get to another dance school and see what they’ve got.”
I was really surprised. My ex-choreographer always told us how my now-choreographer was a piece of s#!t and copied everything from him etc. etc.
Actually the new guy is a really awesome person who wants us to be all a big happy family (and even manages to make us one). Also this is the place where I learned what a cypher is, how to evolve in my freestyle and that I have to get my idiot mood on whenever I dance. I’m still working on this pretty hard and my hope is that one day dancing will come as natural as breathing.
I once heard that dancers are a little narcissistic and tend to have a higher self-esteem then others. As my freestyle evolved I learned it on my own skin. For a high self-esteem you need to trust yourself. You also need this every time you make a new move. So by the rules of transitivity, we get to our conclusion.
All I have to say is that you haven’t lived your life until you attended at least one dancing class or workshop, no matter which style is it based on. Just try. It changes something in you.
