Summary: This holiday season Briana Foredale thinks of how much she has to be thankful for. Including a sweet boyfriend.
Authors Note: I’m probably not going to get much notes on this but yay new category! I just finished a replay so I figured maybe a holiday lite fic would be cute, even if it is short. It’s going to be a week of familiar and new stories with tomorrow being mother of the year.
The World Today with Ellen and Briana was now the new show that filmed where Northbridge news used to film. This was the day that they would film the Christmas special to air next week while they were on vacation.
Briana Foredale walked into the studio humming Winter Wonderland under her breath. The weather had already turned cold. Although thanks to their location it would never snow which she thought was a good thing. Just wet and rainy, as she hummed and walked onto the set.
“Hi June, hi Maggie,” she said passing by the two flirting with each other and winked at them.
They separated and blushed while she just shook her head. They were just too cute together, she thought turning away from them. There wasn’t any rule that anyone couldn’t flirt on set but now she needed her boyfriend with her. Which thankfully she heard his voice next.
“Briana!” called Aubrey Watson as he caught up to her. “Is that what you’re really wearing today?”
She looked down at her outfit a little confused. Her favorite comfy jeans, boots, and her red and white striped sweater. It was comfy, cute, and functional. They all wore casual on Fridays! A little embarrassed and a tad confused she turned to him.
“Um yes, is there a problem?”
“Well… I had a surprise set up with the stage today and you just might blend in.”
He rubbed the back of his neck as Briana looked confused at him and went over to the stage doors. What kind of surprise would be set up on stage that she would…? Never mind, she thought, as she opened the doors to the stage area.
Her jaw dropped slightly to see that the entire room was decked out. What was just simple decorations before had more added. Christmas trees (yes there was more then one!), fake snow, and the backdrop had Santa flying away on a sleigh. However, she was beginning to see how her outfit could make her blend in. Plastic candy canes, in the same red and white stripes as her sweater, were very close to their chairs.
A bit stunned she turned to Aubrey looking a bit sheepish.
“Sorry is just that I wanted to surprise you. I even got a local band to end the show playing Jingle Bells.”
Aww now that was a great idea, she thought, and bit her bottom lip. Even better since it would be their last episode until after New Year’s. Although this was her favorite sweatshirt and really wanted to wear it. Instead she just turned at him and grinned.
“Okay at first, I was a little mad when you told me that I couldn’t wear this outfit, but this is amazing. Did you do this all for me?”
Flirty she twirled her blond hair and kissed his cheek while he just kissed her lips softly. Now this was something that Briana could get used to. She looked up and saw that the stars on the background spelled out the show’s name in green and red. This was so cool and even holiday themed candy sat on the middle table.
“Maybe wanted to do something special for my girlfriend.”
“And I look like a candy cane though.”
Aubrey just laughed a little. “I’m sorry I made you mad. If it helps you look like a cute candy cane.”
Briana swatted his shoulder and just laughed looking at the set. It was so pretty and made her smile even larger. As if the retail industry couldn’t remind them that the holidays were upon them enough, this sure did.
“Okay I can’t be mad at this although what am I going to wear now? Although what will I wear now? My red and white striped sweater was the only Christmas themed sweater I had.”
“I think we have something in wardrobe.”
Slyly grinning at him she took his hand and started walking there at a slower pace. Or at least one that she could reasonably say was slower then usual. After all they did have a show to get working on. She followed him up to the wardrobe department and poked around for something new.
“Do you have something for me?” she asked batting her brown eyes up at him.
“No, I’m saving that for Christmas it is our first together. However, we did get some new sweaters since it’s winter, I figured that you’d like to go through it.”
His walkie talkie cackled to life on his hip as Tony’s voice rung out from the other end.
She couldn’t help it but crinkle her nose. Maybe it was a bad idea to go off with her boyfriend just before work. Sighing he gave her his best I’m sorry look and went to answer it. Standing on her tip toes Briana kissed his cheek before waving for him to go. They had a show to do after all.
Aubrey had to leave her behind to get some late minute changes up and running. Sighing she wanted to stick to something familiar to her own sweater.
Finally, she found something nice that was a nice jewel toned blue with white snowflakes adorning it in rows. Now that was familiar as she tied her long blond hair into a side braid and walked out the door.
Coming at her she saw Anna hurrying over to the wardrobe department as well.
“Anna what are you doing here? I thought you and the PR department were already getting everything done.”
Anna Koishi smiled at her and just pulled at her hand. “I came looking for you. You have a show to do and Ellen is already on stage.”
Figures, she thought, and headed down to the stage area. She had her new favorite sweater on and had all her friends working in the studio with her. Plus a wonderful boyfriend. What more could she want this holiday season?
