I'm thinking about Salem's role in each of WTCH's arcs, each character is a dark telling of their respective tales.
- She an evil fairy godmother to Cinder
- She is the witch from Hansel and Gretel to Hazel
- She is Moriarty to Watts
But... what about Tyrian? What is Salem to him?
His tale is the Scorpion and the Frog, and in that story, the Scorpion stings the Frog as they cross the river and they both drown.
In his version, the Scorpion survives while the Frog doesn't, and he makes it to land.
My rather ridiculous theory is that she's the ground itself. If the Scorpion makes it to land in this version, leaving the Frog to drown, then the land itself is what changes the story.
Not to mention that he literally worships the ground Salem walks on.
