Mabon, also known as the autumn equinox (since day and night are the same length), is the time of year where we start getting ready for winter. It is the second harvest and it usually is between September 20 and 24. It's a great time to celebrate abundance, home and family. It's also a time for balance!
Great colors for Mabon are red, orange, yellow, brown and black. Wear them, paint your nails those colors, light candles with these colors, or use them any way you want!
Great foods to eat to be in the mood for Mabon are pumpkin, bread, soup, stew, but most importantly, APPLES! This is the time of year to cook apples, go crazy with it! You can make apple sauce, apple pie, or even those nice apple twist breads I've been making for three years. You can also just eat apples as a snack!
Crystals you should carry around/put on your altar for Mabon are bloodstone, tiger's eye, hematite, amber, citrine, smokey quartz and obsidian
You can also celebrate by going outside and admiring the change of seasons, or being thankful for what you have
Practice gratitude! Meditate on it or make a list of things you're grateful for
Spend time with the ones you love: have a dinner with them, watch a movie with them… anything!
Since it is a time of balance, meditating to try to balance your emotions is a great way to celebrate.
Getting in the fall mood by doing things that make you think of fall can also be a nice way to celebrate Mabon. Open the windows a bit to let in the fresh air, get cozy under a blanket… you can also watch movies or TV series that remind you of fall, listen to music with autumn vibes, or even go get a pumpkin spice latte, if that's your thing!
On that note, I wish everyone a blessed Mabon, and I hope you'll all enjoy this year's fall time!!
