Wulfgard x reader rambles I guess. Oh, and Rossi platonically. Kind of out of character, still playing the main story. Just really like Catello so far and want more content in the tags.

One of Wulfgard’s files mentions he’s not particularly well liked by the tech and arsenal department. He’s not shy about modding his equipment and weaponry, right in front of the designers with a simple “it works better this way.”

So imagine him with a member of the tech department, someone who sees his particular nature about his equipment, and isn’t bothered by it. They welcome the criticism, the way he’s not shy about issues and is smart enough to offer his own insight to the design. They’d rather he do it where they can observe, provide proper tools and ask what he’s doing than out in the field, where a malfunction could cost a life.

A tech with a sense of responsibility to make things perfect, to adjust and learn and grow to those assigned to them and gain the respect of the operators who depend on their work. If he’s fixing it at their workbench, they can make notes in the file about his mods, and maybe learn something from him.

Wulfgard seeing most in the arsenal avoid him, dislike him, even outright refusing to work with him. And then this one tech who pulls him over to their workbench, showing off blueprints and diagrams and 3d models of new weapons and asking for his input. What he would adjust, where he might see a potential issue and his advice on fixing it. And he remembers them- somewhat at least. The tech that watched with interest at the way he worked, handing tools without being asked. The one who just asked why it worked better, felt better, to do it his way, and gave a nod as they wrote it down.

They take notes, writing down his personal preferences on his equipment, wanting to perfect a design for him he’d take to the field one day and be able to rely on it. The pride of knowing he could trust in both their design and them.

Imagine talking with Wulfgard, watching footage, and going into the field with him on low-stakes missions to improve his equipment. Wulfgard says it’s not easy to work with others for him. He knows his rough edges, and he already tries to work on them but doubly so for his tech.

Imagine the protective nature he’d take. How he’d probably try to keep them out of combat, shield them, and keep an eye to make sure they don’t get hurt while out, even if it’s as simple as making sure they don’t trip on a tree root. He’s extra careful with other LBs, not wanting to paint a target on their back for being associated with someone so notable in The Pack. Betrayal and underhanded tactics find a home in Talos II. He’d rather not see those he cares about suffer like he’s had to.

Imagine Rossi, finding out her big brother is soft for a specific tech in the Hub. How she’d tease him when he’s home about his new friend. But she’d also be interested in the tech who’s caught her big brother’s eye. After all, it’s her big brother, the one she looks up to probably the most (alongside the Endmin), and he’s not exactly home much or open with talking often. And she wants to learn about her brother and his friend. So she sneaks away from for a bit to try and meet them, and even she can’t help but like them.

They treat her… well, like the child she is, giving her the freedom and comfort she yearns for, but treating her like someone capable. Like she isn’t a helpless babe so many of the older operators do that annoys her. But who also sneaks her extra snacks and mends her hood when it gets torn out on a mission. She tells them to treat her big brother right, telling them The Pack is not one to let things go unpunished.

Wulfgard getting updates about Rossi from their tech, staying up to date on her latest escapades. He goes to their tech to ask for gift ideas, learning about his sister’s hobbies and trying to be present despite the distance that lingers between them.

Or when his Oripathy acts up. Even with suppressants, there is still the possibility of a flare-up if he’s been pushing it too much, or if it’s been just a little too long between doses. He didn’t have an extra shot for when he was out in the field last time, it wasn’t supposed to take as long as it did. And his tech forcing him to take a break, making him lay down for a bit as they bring him some food and water. And if they do the same? He’s just as likely to scold them back (sometimes he really does prove he’s an older sibling with those lectures).

Imagine the anxiety the two felt knowing their tech was at the Hub during the Ankhor Fall. Is their tech okay? Are they hurt? What happened to them? And the sigh of relief as comms in Valley IV get back online and they can finally reach them, taking a sigh of relief knowing they’re okay.

And if the tech complains the Ankhor messed up their lab, or some tools got damaged? Rossi had some extra pocket money and Wulfgard has never been one to really spend his T-creds much on himself, he never sees much point to beyond quality equipment. Talking the Luppinos out of buying them new tools is a task. Rossi is much more likely to ask questions and argue. Wulfgard is way more likely to buy it anyways without even asking. They’d still probably end up with a new set of precision tools anyways. Sometimes they randomly end up with a multipurpose tool or pocket knife they know they didn’t have before. Rossi might blush if confronted, saying she just wanted to and stop making a big deal of it, it’s nothing really, she just happened to be shopping for stuff anyways. Wulfgard shrugs and calls it even for recalibrating his hand cannon again. But if they thank him, his ear might twitch a little too obviously. He’s lucky he doesn’t blush easily.

Imagine both siblings developing a soft spot for the tech. The Pack respects them. I don’t know. I like wulfgard and the tech he didn’t want.
