Taiwan is a small country but it has a big heart. A hike in the mountains helps people realize just how beautiful this place is!
After two weeks of typhoons and rain we finally had beautiful weather in Taiwan last weekend - A perfect day for one of the best hikes in the country.
It's been a few months but now that summer is over I'll be spending a lot more time hiking!
i wanted some danger, i got some danger. after that bit frustrating trip to tainan i recovered quick and went for a hike in the Wuliaojian 五寮尖 mountain. a guide in the internet showed a not easy track, requiring strength and endurance. it was a thursday, so we were almost the only ones there, having enough time to rest and not feeling rushed through the tracks to avoid traffic jams. the trail lead over small ridges, where every wrong step would result into a deep fall and probably the end of this blog. so it was necessary to stay focused and calm all the time. it was hot and sweat runs down fast. beside ridges high walls stood in our way, only to conquer by pulling up on ropes. all these difficulties made staying focused hard, but it all was rewarded by amazing views all the time. we got to the peak with only a few scratches and could enjoy our way down in the sunny and green environment with a 4 hours hike in the legs, having some big plates of sashimi afterwards. proteins, baby.

This hike is dangerously close to being my new favorite. The views are a bit better than WuLiaoJian, but there aren't as many cool rope parts. I still can't believe we're getting this weather in late January. It was perfect. And as you can see from the last photo, the weather was so nice hat the guys just had to take their shirts off. I grew up in a city where weekend activities like this were never an option....and now I can't imagine living in a place where it isn't.
