Calla and Open
Life wasn’t fair sometimes, Calla realised. Life was awful, and sometimes people made mistakes that made them seem even more bad. Looking through the photo album, she felt her heart break. Her sisters were all grown up, and all the promises they made were gone in the wind. Merlin, Calla hated herself so much for this; after all, she was the reason why. She promised growing up with them, guiding them through every step of the way. Her proud sister Astor. Her baby sister Rowan. It broke her heart to pass them in the corridors everyday, without a sign of acknowledgement or anything. Because there was nothing Calla wanted more than to just hold her sisters close and tell them that she loved them.
The last task had brought a lot of things into perspective. The doubts crept into her mind again, and the Ravenclaw questioned herself. Was it really worth it? Was any of this worth it? No, Calla couldn’t afford to think like that. She just couldn’t. Because if she did, they would be onto her like sharks. And the Ravenclaw girl did not intend to drown. But at the same time, holding it all in seemed to break her.
It was hard to fake her breaking smile, but once she was outside the castle, the china doll exterior shattered. She sat by the edge of the fountain and cried. Cried hard. The raven-haired girl couldn’t do this anymore. She didn’t know what to do. So, she cried. Hopefully no one would notice, and the shadows she could sense would leave her to be.
