Jey & Rhea
The arena lights had barely cooled after the show.
Backstage buzzed with the usual chaos. Crew members rolled up cables, wrestlers laughed, and trainers shouted about ice packs. In the middle of it all stood Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky, the brand-new Women’s Tag Team Champions. The gold plates on their shoulders caught the overhead lights like tiny suns.
Iyo was bouncing with excitement.
“Rhea! We did it!” Iyo grinned, holding up her belt.
Rhea smirked, breathing hard from the match. “Told you we would.”
Across the hallway, leaning against a production crate, Jey Uso watched quietly.
Most people would feel nothing but pride watching their partner win a championship. Jey did feel proud, but underneath, there was a sharp ache. His pride almost hurt, mixed up with envy and self-doubt he didn’t want to admit.
Like always, once the excitement faded, that voice crept in and twisted his happiness before he could even enjoy it.
The annoying one.
The one that whispered things like, She’s moving up while you’re standing still.
Rhea spotted him and grinned instantly.
“YEET!” she shouted, jogging over with the belt slung across her shoulder.
Jey forced a smile. “There she is. Champ champ.”
She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him quickly.
“Did you see it? That finish? Iyo hit that moonsault and—boom!”
“I saw,” Jey nodded.
But Rhea noticed right away that something was off.
She looked at his face, concern flickering as she read his body language.
“You alright?”
Jey shrugged. “Yeah. Why wouldn’t I be?”
Before she could answer, Iyo ran over again, nearly vibrating with excitement.
“Jey! Did you see my moonsault?!”
He chuckled. “Yeah, I saw it. Crazy as always.”
Iyo bowed playfully. “Thank you!”
Then a production assistant called her name from down the hall.
“I go do interview!” Iyo said, waving as she rushed off.
Now it was just the two of them.
Rhea studied Jey’s face carefully.
One year together meant she knew him pretty well.
But right now, he kept looking anywhere except at her. The way he avoided her eyes said more than words ever could. To Rhea, that simple action meant more than any explanation.
“You’re doing that thing,” she said.
“What thing?”
“That quiet thing.”
Jey rubbed the back of his neck.
“Nothing’s wrong, Rhea.”
She crossed her arms.
“Jey.”
That tone.
The one that said, "Try again."
Jey's shoulders slumped. He let out a slow, shaky breath, weighed down by everything he still couldn’t say.
“Look… it’s just…”
He hesitated.
“…you’re out here winning titles,” he finally said, voice almost cracking. “Main eventing, making history… I’m just watching.”
“And?”
“And I’m just… there.”
Rhea blinked.
“That’s what this is about?”
Jey's chest rose and fell before he spoke, the words heavy.
“Everybody talks about how unstoppable you are. ‘Mami this, Mami that.’”
He gestured toward the hallway where the interview set was.
“And now you’re tag champ too.”
A beat of silence passed.
Jey shrugged awkwardly.
“Feels like you’re leveling up, and I’m just trying to keep up.” As Rhea listened, she realized he wasn’t just talking about wrestling. She watched his face and finally understood what was really bothering him: he was afraid of being left behind.
Then she laughed. It wasn’t mean, just surprised.
A disbelieving one.
“Jey Uso.” She shook her head.
His frown deepened, uncertainty flickering behind his eyes. He seemed to brace for impact.
“What?”
She stepped closer and grabbed the front of his hoodie.
“You serious right now?”
Color rushed to his cheeks. He dropped his gaze, embarrassment and self-doubt creeping onto his face.
“…kinda.”
Rhea leaned in until they were nose to nose.
“Do you know why I like you?”
He blinked.
“What?”
“You’re real.”
She tapped his chest.
“You’re loyal. You’re funny. You’ve got heart.”
She gestured down the hallway.
“Titles? They come and go. Half the locker room has had one at some point.”
Then she pointed at him again.
“But there’s only one Main Event, Jey Uso.”
Jey tried to hide a smile.
“You're just saying that.”
“Nope.”
She slung the championship belt off her shoulder and pressed it into his hands.
The metal was heavier than it looked.
“Hold that.”
He raised an eyebrow.
“Why?”
“Because I wouldn’t have survived this past year without you.”
She leaned against the wall beside him.
“You remember Royal Rumble when I was losing my mind before the match?”
He chuckled.
“You almost threw a chair.”
“I did throw a chair.”
“You did.”
“And who calmed me down?” she said.
“…me.”
“Exactly.”
She nudged him with her shoulder.
“You’re part of this whether you realize it or not.”
Jey looked down at the championship in his hands.
Then back at her.
“You know people online are gonna say you're carrying me now.”
Rhea snorted.
“Please. I could bench press half the roster.”
That made him laugh for real.
“Facts.”
She gently took the belt back and slung it over her shoulder again.
Then she grabbed his face with both hands.
“Listen carefully, Uso.”
He raised his eyebrows.
“If I wanted bigger, stronger, richer, or whatever your mind’s making up…”
She leaned closer.
“…I would’ve picked them.”
A small smirk appeared.
“But I picked you.”
Jey looked at her, his face open. Both hope and fear were clear in his eyes.
He felt something inside him relax, letting go of some tension, insecurity, and jealousy. The insecurity faded a little, but it stayed in the background, reminding him that not every fear disappears overnight.
He nodded slowly.
“Yeah… alright.”
“Good.”
She poked his chest.
“Now fix your face before Iyo comes back and thinks we’re breaking up.”
Right on cue, Iyo’s voice echoed from down the hall.
“RHEAAAA!”
Rhea groaned dramatically.
“See?”
Jey laughed.
“Go be a champion, Mami.”
She walked a few steps away, then turned back suddenly.
“Oh, and Jey?”
“Yeah?”
Her grin returned.
“You’re still taking me out for tacos tonight.”
He smirked.
“Championship tacos?”
“Championship tacos.”
Iyo came sprinting back into the hallway.
“Rhea! They want another interview!”
Rhea rolled her eyes.
“Coming!”
She looked back at Jey one last time.
And this time, he wasn’t standing in the background.
He was standing a little taller.
Because sometimes, the biggest battles in wrestling don’t happen in the ring.
They’re the quiet ones that happen in your own mind.
The next Monday night, the backstage hallway at RAW felt like controlled chaos. Production carts rattled by, someone was arguing about pyro timing, and the faint thud of ring bumps echoed from the arena floor.
Jey Uso sat on a black equipment case, elbows on his knees, staring at the floor.
In his hand was a crumpled piece of paper.
The match card.
Mixed Tag Match Rhea Ripley & Jey Uso vs Finn Balor & Stephanie Vaqure vs Liv Morgan & Dominik Mysterio vs Jimmy Uso & Naomi
He read it again and sighed.
He sighed again. As he stared at the paper, that little voice came back with the same old doubts, ready for another round.
Last week, he’d convinced himself things were fine. Rhea had meant what she said. She always did.
But now, Creative wanted a four-team mixed tag match—men and women together, swapping tags, big spectacle.
Which meant one thing in Jey’s brain.
Everyone’s gonna see how much better she is than me.
Rhea came around the corner and saw Jey sitting on the equipment crate with the piece of paper in his hand. She looked at him from a distance and could tell his mind was running a mile a minute.
“Hey”, Rhea said as she got closer to him.
Jey looked up at her with a weak smile, “What’s up?”
“Nothing... Are you okay?” Rhea asked as she jumped up on the crate beside Jey.
“Yeah, just worried about this ta match they have us in...” Jey said, looking up from the paper.
“What are you worried about?” Rhea asked Jey, as she took the paper from his hands and examined it.
“It’s just people are going to see how much better you are than me. It’s going to give the fans another reason to hate me.” Jey said.
“First of all, I’m not better than you. We are a team, and we make each other look better. And secondly, fuck the haters, they don’t see how hard you work to be where you are today.” Rhea said as she grabbed hold of Jey’s hand.
Jey looked up at Rhea and gave her a weak smile. She always seemed to know what to say when he doubted himself, but no matter what, that doubt never fully went away.

A/N: Jey’s scenes will be in blue

“It can?” Kizzie asked aloud, not knowing who made the bold statement. “Yep.” they both grumbled in unison as Kizzie finally wiggled out of the sweatshirt. She was fully clothed but she felt completely naked. “I never knew you felt so strongly about it.” Kizzie smiled, her cheeks flushed. “How many times do we have to tell you that you’re perfect just the way you are, darling?” Rhea growled softly. “Priest, put your shirt on…it’s distracting.” Kizzie laughed. “Anythkng for you. Rhea tell you about the segment tonight?” he asked. “I hadn’t gotten around to that. Walked into a cold front when they walked through security.” Rhea laughed before explaining how they wanted Kizzie to attack Rhea and Jey ran to her rescue.
“Let’s put a pin in the conversation for now. I need to get some food before this dark match. Rhea…I need your assistance with my eyeliner. Unless…I can sweet talk Kizzie into doing it.” Damian winked. “I’d love to but I’m supposed to be meeting Jey for dinner after debrief.” Kizzie shrugged. “Hmm…that's too bad. Well, there's always next week.” He laughed, turning to walk away. “That was…intense.” Kizzie spoke, it was barely a whisper. “C'mon girlie, let's go get our marching orders.” Rhea smiled as she put Kizzie’s bag in the locker next to hers. Behind the scenes, creative had been trying to find a way to work Kizzie into the Jhea storyline. During a filmed walk to the stage, Rhea was now going to get savagely attacked by Kizzie and left bloody for Jey to find. He'd pick her up and carry her to medical to push the Kizzie versus Rhea storyline along. They had been wanting to go to battle for months but creative kept dragging their feet about it.

Jey struggled to hide the annoyance on his face when Damian Priest was the first familiar face they saw in the hotel lobby. Kizzie waved, Jey didn’t. He was cool with Damian until Kizzie came along. Now he didn’t trust him.
“You good, chica? He’s mean-muggin’ me HARD.”
Characters: Jey Uso x Kizzie West
Warnings: Language x Negative mention of OC's weight
is it true you’re closing your Jhea shirt shop?
Didn’t think anyone would actually hit me about this 😅
Yes, it’s true. Not because of Jhea—they got my heart, lock, stock, and barrel—but I put too much stock in Jhea merch—I wanted it to the point of having them made—but that doesn’t mean it would translate completely or at all. My room looks like a warehouse 😂, and it’s just not sustainable to keep making shirts when I have a merch stand near my bed 😭
After show Rhea and USOs content again! 😁😁😁

I SAW IT!!! JHEA IS LIVING SO HARD!!! 💜🩵
I also saw the way Mami was on them ropes…🤭 I fear there won’t be much smut in YRM for a good while (you see why soon I promise) so I might have to go head and write a little something something 🫣
