Anyways! A WIP for a Birthday Art (you might guess....)

Ai: “Eli-chi - Eli-chi! Look who I found!”

Eli: “Oh, and who is this little bean sprout?”

Jenny: “Hi, my name is Jenny!”

Ai: “I was on my daily run and I bumped into her idol training too!”

Eli: “Is that so?”

Jenny: “Yes! But, I don’t really know the first thing about idols.”

Ai: “Hey, let’s take her to the library for some super idol studying!”

Eli: “Great idea, Ai, let’s go!”

just going over notes on a fic thatll never happen

so this plot was sorta kinda about mcmattdrai, but quickly spiraled outside of whats feasibly can be mcmattdrai into pseudo original fiction

the basic concept is there's a new nhl team in houston, and it wants to build a brand for itself for making some kind of a blockbuster signing. matthew is an assistand gm for it, while his father is owner, so he wants to get it done to be promoted to gm and also please the dad.

and then theres cmd, whos approaching the end of his contract with edmonton and so far has not committed to stay. matthew wants to get him to leave edm and sign with houston. this is obv Illegal per Rules, as this is tampering. think mitch marner to vegas (funnily i made this scenario up before marner thing happened). because its Actually Illegal, matthew cant overstep the plausible deniabilty, so therefore recruits another guy to bait cmd into leaving for houston to his benefit. and also to sidestep cmds agent. that was supposed to be drai.

and then over the course of the season drai + matthew play 4d chess trying to seduce cmd into leaving and its like dramatic and stuff. think succession the tv show. cmd is ultra bored in edm and the fruitlessness of his stay here has been an ongoing saga. so hes really into the Concept of Affair like. totally uprooting his life and doing something completely differrent. if long sufferring propriety is what they want for me they dont know how youve haunted me so stunningly.

and then theres plot B and plot C. plot B is matthew trying to one up his old college buddy whos also a gm now and is much more successful. plot C is d-strome being on houston and getting outed mid season, and then d-strome does Official Coming Out as the First Queer NHLer (TM) and matthew deals with all sorts of fallouts from this. he supports strome cause hes sometimes nice and promises to help should anything happen.

but then also turns out mcstrome Happened here (see: my prev mcstrome lore) and for a moment matthew thinks it'll be an advantage in signing cmd to houston, but it turns out cmd does not want to be on the same team with strome any more. he says that he wouldnt enjoy it probably, and cmd does not SAY that "you need to get rid of him or else i wont come" but matthew interprets it this way. and because matthew is evil, he trades strome away from houston on the trade deadline after promising him support.

then ploffs start thats where like. REAL scheming has to take place. cause 2 things are true: 1) if cmd does win the cup, then he wont leave edm cause theres no point 2) if cmd loses to houston he wont go to houston cause he'll be mad and itd be bad pr. so edm has to get past houston and lose in scf. to this end at the deadline matthew trades some assets to team_name (florida?) that will boost them and will weaken houston. and also that will free cap space for possible cmd signing. and also will remove strome. so this is like endgame megaplot moriarty style. matthew needs to make cmd lose scf while winning over houston to be in position where houston is the best option and not the enemy and offender. my horse must lose so that i can win. drai consoles cmd through his suffering post scf, they also fugg. cmd then finally approves of signing to houston and calls his agent. mathew irons out a trade with edms gm for the signing rights so that he wont be liable for tampering. then after sigining with houston wedding to lauren also canonically happens in the offseason.

there are Plenty of holes and plot points that need ironing out like why drai be helping at all. how to work the agent in. how much power matthew wields as assistant gm (should he just be gm?) and will it all it work timeline wise. would he even have time to fuck around this much if hes an actual gm and not assistant? there are cap issues

Work In Progress Wednesday: the Magpie Dress.

I’m prepping for an event this weekend so I haven’t had as much time to devote to this as I would like, but it’s nice to make at least a little bit of progress on my wearable art piece for Wasteland Weekend 2019. This is the center-front neckline of the overdress thing I’m making, and this length will reach at least as far as the underbust, maybe all the way to the waistline, where there’ll be a horizontal strap woven through these vertical bits, to help the whole thing hold its shape and keep the vertical lines from tangling with each other.

The idea is a sparkly formal gown (for the Friday Night Formal) that will reflect what little light there is at Wasteland after dark. The whole thing will be decorated like this, with bits of junk and reclaimed beads and such, all shiny or sparkly in one way or another. I need to tie at least another 13 strands like this before I can tackle the waist, and then all of the strands will extend at least to the knees. So there’s a ways to go on all of this, but it’s fun to start to see proof-of-concept at least.
