The whumpee is struggling against the bad guys holding their arms, fighting not to have their wrists locked into restraints. Which is the better way to stop them resisting:

a) Bag guy grabs them by the hair and smashes their head into the nearest surface, dazing them and making them go limp enough to restrain them.

OR

b) Bad guy threatens “If you keep struggling, we’ll just break your arms first.”

Summary: Life as the older of two mutant turtles isn’t easy, especially when the one who was ACTUALLY supposed to be your “dad” starts slacking off the moment you can take care of yourself. But it’s fine, really. Leo doesn’t need any help taking care of Mikey. They don’t need any help from a rat that apparently decided grieving over two other dead babies was more important than taking care of the surviving two. This isn’t about Splinter, anyway. It’s about Leo. And Mikey, obviously, but when an encounter with a strange ninja clan with footprints stamped across their faces knocks Mikey off his feet, it’s up to Leo to get revenge….

Revenge that gets him thrown straight into the ring of Big Mama’s Battle Nexus, fighting against a young champion already three times his size, and looks suspiciously like Leo.

Maybe Leo’s dead brothers aren’t as dead as he and Mikey thought.

Would you rather: fav gets plenty of whump in canon but none in fandom, or fav gets no whump in canon but plenty in fandom?

Personally I’d prefer plenty of whump in canon but none in fandom, because a) whump is normally most of what makes me fall for a character anyway, b) whump in canon normally means actual film, which can’t really be recreated by fandom, and c) you can always create your own whump if no one else in the fandom is.
