Curious whether the boops will disappear at midnight my time, or if they'll stay up until midnight in the last time zone. Might try to launder my way to the 1000 if they do.
Lol so when I said I was coming back to tumblr after my hiatus that was a lie huh XD
(But I heard there were boops today and I missed them last time so I'm here briefly, hopefully it might stick this time)
We all love hypothermia and cold whump. But what about.
Ice burns?
I don't see that as much in whump. And I wanna see it š
Discuss ice burns! (AKA feel free to add on!)
This makes me think of freeze branding. (First thing to come to my mind.) Because yeah, ice burns are very real and very painful!
Curious about where the whump community is on this; feel free to explain or add nuance to your response. Note that the responses are about the whumpee characters and are not about your age.
I am personally uncomfortable with engaging any content involving minor whumpees
I enjoy minor whump in professionally published media (YA novels, TV, etc.) only
I enjoy whumpy childhood backstories for adult whumpee OC's only
I actively enjoy engaging with content involving minor whumpee OC's

Accidentally took nearly two months off tumblr lol š Hope you're all well.
When did you find out that there is a whole whump community? That you're not alone with your obsession...

Before it was whump, it was hurt/comfort. ā¤ļø
A character, injured and unable to walk, determinedly dragging themselves across the ground, desperate to reach something, clawing their way forward toward their goal inch by painful bloody inch.
For those who don't know or care about the olympics, Laurie won gold and silver in gymnastics at the 2016 olympics. She's now a commentator for gymnastics at the olympics and is a treasure.
The thing that I feel like people need to understand about whump is that itās inevitable that some people are gonna be into it sexually and itās inevitable that for some people itās also a kink and itās inevitable that some people fantasize about whump scenarios. And thatās fine. There aināt nothing wrong with that, if that makes you uncomfortable you donāt have to interact with those people, there is a block button for a reason.
But just because it makes you uncomfortable donāt mean itās wrong or bad. You canāt come to a community for weirdos, that runs on art and writing made by weirdos, and then get all upset when hey! Thereās weirdos around here! The person who writes whump because they think itās hot aināt more weird than the person who writes whump because it helps them vent, and that person aināt any weirder than the person who writes whump just because they think itās neat. By the standards of most people outside the whump community, weāre ALL weird for enjoying it at all, so thereās no sense in getting all high and mighty because you believe you enjoy whump in the most pure and moral way possible, unlike those ādegeneratesā so to say. And honestly, if you arenāt mature enough to understand the simple fact that just because someone likes something in fiction, or just because someone likes to fantasize about something, that absolutely does not mean they want it in real life, then you probably arenāt mature enough to be having these discussions about whump/kink and whether itās āokayā or not if someone gets off to it anyway.
Whump
All of y'all reblogging this like (pretend they're all saying "whump"):
āWhat hurts more?ā A swing of the crowbar. āThis?ā Whumper paused, and then another, across the back of Whumpeeās knees. āor that?ā
Okay, weird question
When you feel bad emotionally/physically/mentally, do you step away from whump to think/engage with something else?
Yes, I'd rather think/engage with something else that's not whump
Nah, I think/engage with whump even in that state
Whenever I'm depressed/feeling down/sick, I step away from whump and think about fluff or anything else that doesn't involve whump or even angst and hurt/comfort. It's probably just me, but I'm curious if there are others who are the same.
Your whump word(s) of the day

Hey itās me again! Jenny with the dumb questions lol
So I was wondering why thereās like no bullying whump stories. I saw some people saying they donāt write it and I donāt really understand why.
I mean most whumps are about kidnapping. But Iāve seen people writing about all kinds of topics. But never about bullying.
I feel like maybe itās just a sensitive topic and a lot of people donāt write it because they have been bullied themselves. Me including
Maybe also because itās such a common thing. I mean, taking about the most common and extreme whump writings. Kidnapping, murder and torture is not something that many people in this community experienced themselves. (I hope) So bullying is maybe too familiar for some people.
Anyways just speculating! Feel free to give your opinion on the topic! Again Iām not judging anyone. Just curious!

Yeah to me definitely it's a matter of, on one hand I think it's harder to write well (torture whump, outside of maybe some very specific scenarios, and also battle whump etc, have more leeway for unrealistic aspects, some types of torture whump are almost by definition unrealistic; bullying on the other hand is in some ways very immediately grounded in realism and has maybe somewhat less room for the over-the-top and imaginative and fantastical. Frankly, even when it comes to commercially published fiction, there's very few depictions of bullying i've ever come across that seem to match my own experiences well or really evoke those feelings that I'd want a depiction of bullying to evoke), but then at the same time when it is written well, depending on my mood/how i'm doing on a given day, it can strike me in the gut and dig up all the old memories and feelings in a way that can genuinely, without exaggeration, leave me feeling upset and raw for days. Like, at best it can be cathartic, at worst it can just leave me off-balance and a fucking mess, and it can depend on the day and be kinda hard for me to judge which it's gonna be.
So it's a topic I mainly avoid because more often than not the depictions I've found in the past have not really resonated with me, but then when a depiction does resonate it cam hit deeper than I want it to. And honestly, for all that I did experience it myself, I'm still not sure I'd know how to write a good depiction of it myself
I think you've both hit the nail on the head there. I do wonder though if maybe another reason why you don't see many bullying whump fics is that bullying in fiction is largely associated with children and school environments (not exactly accurately - workplace bullying is totally a thing but culturally we don't really talk about that as much or bring it to fiction. (I guess we'd call it abuse instead?)). Unless people's whumpees are schoolchildren, it's probably not a type of whumping that particularly comes to mind.
