@wyslyyzrโ liked for a starter.ย
โWell, this is unexpected. To what do I owe the pleasure?โย
@wyslyyzrโ: x
It was bad enough that Kwannon was struggling with her own tongue, so it wasnโt helping to hear a foreign language she had no way for her mind to translate. She bit back a retort; if it was important information, he likely already translated it for her. โIt was not their lack of faith in you that resulted in failure. Of that, Iโm sure.โ Kwannon looked around at those whoโd gathered to try and reassemble the little they had left to put back together what they once had. It was admirable, after such a loss. It was the main reason sheโd sought him out to provide any assistance she could. If she could. โA better question would be what are your expectations for yourself?โ

@wyslyyzr gets a starter because I had an idea.
ย It has been a worm in his brain ever since Magneto uttered those words. How could it not be? To be told by someone David genuinely respects that they trust him, that they want him to survive, is so alien to David. So against the odds.
ย And sure, their relationship, if that's what you can call it, hasn't been great. There was that time when David went back in time to kill Magneto. And that time, Magneto was tasked with killing David if he lost control. So, tumultuous at best. Which only makes what Magneto said on the surface of the red planet all the more baffling.
ย David has gotten to the point where he's convinced himself it couldn't have been true. Had to be a lie. Had to be something said in the heat of the moment to manipulate him. Probably didn't even really believe he would survive against Uranosโ army of murder machines. Yeah, that's it. A lie to control him. Nothing more, nothing real.
ย It used to be that he'd wallow in that. Let it sit and fester. It used to be that he wouldn't say anything. That he'd keep his fears and anger to himself. No one wants to see an insane dude get emotional, but this is eating at him too much.
ย Thus, David Haller finds himself in Magneto's home. He didn't knock. He wasn't polite. He just teleported himself right into the building. And because David isn't great at small talk and pleasantries, he just gets right to it.
ย โWhy would yโ say that to me?โ he asks, frowning and agitated. He's forgotten to specify what exactly it is he's talking about. A habit of a guy so used to being in his own head. โTellinโ me that yโ trust me, that you want me to live. It โฆ It doesn't make sense.โ
Starter for @wyslyyzr Mikoto w/ Erik
She could compare electromagnetism to a big lake where she stood at the shore, with her bare feet in the water. If nothing happened it was totally placid and flat. But someone turned on a lamp, a ripple. A wind turbine spun, a ripple. Computers, phones, cameras, screens, radios, microwaves, UV radiation from the sun, ionization in the atmosphere, thunderclouds, small twitches of muscle fibers contracting, ripples. Mikoto felt it all, and generally, ignored the vast majority of it. There was too much to keep track of and she'd go crazy if she didn't tune it out. Very, very few things could force their way into her notice.
But in the afternoon, during the last class of her day: Advanced Mathematics, something happened that felt like someone took the biggest boulder they could find and chucked it into the water.
The impact of the wave hitting her EM Field produced a sizzle of static at her hairline. Mikoto's pen veered across the page, leaving a long mark across her notes. The professor chastised her for using her powers, for which she sheepishly apologized. But Mikoto was no longer heard the calculus lecture. Instead, her focus turned outward. In the distance out in the city was a disturbance. Like there was some powerful source constantly emitting EM Waves almost exactly like her own field. She felt it at cross ways with hers and the sensation was odd, foreign even; not at all like the sisters. Someone else with power like hers. And power as great as hers.
After class, a classmate observed that Mikoto looked like she had 'spaced-out' and offered a copy of her notes to share, and told her to get more sleep tonight. Mikoto accepted graciously then took the bus back to her dorm. Over the afternoon, as she studied, went out for coffee and snacks with her friends at a cafe, ate dinner, and prepared for bed, she kept track of that other field. It faded in and out of her awareness but never lessened, with occasional bursts of power. After dorm checks and curfew, and once Kuroko was fast asleep, Mikoto got up from bed. She dressed in street clothes and went out the window, scrubbing the courtyard cameras to make a clean break into the city. Trepidation tightened her chest as she traversed the rooftops and balconies, pulling by long arcs of magnetism between buildings. She didn't know what she expected or what she'd find; or even, as she stood at the entrance of a park, empty at the darkness past curfew, who.
She walked down long white sidewalks between tended beds and fields open for kids to play in between breaks; playgrounds with empty swings idly shivering in the wind. The other field washed over her, less a wave than a tsunami. She came to the center of the park where a white stone fountain bubbled. Siting on the edge of the fountain was a man, he had long legs that betrayed his height and square shoulders. The street lamps set amber into his white hair, it was then, seeing him, that Mikoto was beset by the realization and feeling that she should know him. That she felt his EM Field before and had been aware of it nearly her entire life. Even if she had not known what it was, or who he was, and he had been too far away for her ever to take real notice of his power, except as an occasional unexplained burst. If that was true, then there was a possibility that he had known of her too. And this meeting was not incidental.
Her lips parted in a silent exclamation she didn't vocalize, until her voice broke-out: "Who are you?"
๐ซฆ because i think it would be funny
Send me ๐ซฆ to have a New year's kiss at midnight.
It's 11:59, and Remy's at the front door idly sweeping towards it and waiting for the clock to ring in the new year so he can usher it in. It's all an old tradition, folklore from back home to invite all the good luck--much like the crock pot of collard greens and Hoppin' John still warming on the counter or the little gifts he gave out to the children. This year had been rough on him--on them all; he's not going to risk it.
He can hear the countdown in the living room and opens the door in anticipation, only to come face-to-face with Magneto. Remy grabs the doorknob to slam the door shut in the other mutant's face, but of course, he's not able to.
Jaw muscle jumping, he takes a moment to fix his face, even though he can't smooth out the wrinkle between his brows.
5!
โ What are y' doin' here? โ Remy hisses out, voice low to not attract any more attention.
4!
Magneto steps forward. Remy steps back. Until he can't.
3!
A gloved hand raises, and Remy tenses, the knob glowing warm under his palm.
2!
The hand cards through his hair. Remy snarls, devilish eyes darting this way and that, much like a stallion about to thrash.
1!
But before he can protest or question or do anything, dry, cool lips slant against his.
Happy New Years!
' say that again and i will make a scene. '
Gambit snorts, amusement rolling off of the thief in waves. Badder men than Magneto have tried to control Gambit, tried to cow him with threats of all kinds, but they've failed. Just like the blowhard in front of him will.
โ Y' don't need Gambit's permission t' act like an ass--you do well enough of dat on y' own accord, Magneto. Very well. Go'n den. Make y' scene. An' action! โ
