@wyzszy is right and they should say it.
" Remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer. "
“A well-known turn of phrase. Or, perhaps, nothing but a tale told to keep those of us who aren’t afraid to show ourstrength in our place. I, for one, welcome a bit of confidence. We can’t all be a gentlebreeze on a summer’s day. Some of us were born to be storms. Let us rage, I say!”
❛ I was afraid you were dead. ❜
“planning on getting rid of me that soon?” it as a sad attempt of a joke. in truth, geralt felt his stomach turn, for several reasons. first it was the fact that he truly did sport a few rather spectacular ( and not in a good way ) looking gashes across his chest and upper arms, then there was dettlaff, whose corpse now lay further away from them, and then there was the fact that the witcher thought regis to be dead just like he thought him dead. only a higher vampire could kill a higher vampire, and geralt knew that in essence regis consciously went against dettlaff, his friend and vampire tribe member.
choices like that were always hard, that much the witcher knew. greater evil, lesser evil, doing the right thing despite knowing that for at least one party, it was the complete opposite. this perhaps was the last straw and geralt was ready to give it all up. retirement sounded like a good idea. there was only so much he could truly handle, and the mix of physical and emotional pain was getting to him. so what if he might be the first witcher to die in his bed? at least he’d die in peace, eventually.
“not about to get rid of me that easily, regis,” geralt replied, a few hisses leaving him as he tried to move. “i’ll survive... but you... you didn’t have to do it, regis. but thanks.”

The fire crackles before them -- they’ve decided for an early stop for the day, after Cahir had tracked down a particularly large pig for dinner -- and Dandelion doesn’t bother to look up from the tuning pegs on his lute. He’s always admired Regis for his wisdom, although if he’s being fair to himself, Regis has had a few more centuries of life experiences under his belt. “No, they don’t, do they? I expect that’s why my romances are so popular with ladies of all ages.” He finally looks up, gives Regis a sly grin. “Now, I don’t suppose you have a spare bottle of that mandrake root brew rattling around, do you?”

“Haven’t seen that technique used for a while!” Shani nods her approval at the man working quietly beside her. It is stuffy in the tent, the air thick with blood and death.
“That’s straight out of Terzieff-Godefroy’s body of work, am I right?”
She works as she speaks, the scalpel sharp in her rock steady hands, paring away tissue with a quiet, efficient confidence, her eyes darting across every so often to check on her patient – fast asleep under the influence of a herbal infusion.
“It’s the superior method, but not many have the patience to learn it, let alone perfect it, unfortunately. Who taught you, if I may ask?”
He's holding out a pouch full of catnip in front of the witcher. It's for science, Geralt, don't be mad.
❝ What are you ❞
he stops, nose crinkling as he was suddenly WHALLOPED with the overwhelming stench of Nepeta cataria . He almost swats the bag out of the vampire’s hands , instead opting to take a step back and cover his nose . the stuff was volatile , and since witchers used cat genes in part of the mutations it was a crapshoot as to whether it affected any particular Witcher . Geralt’s expression turned to a softer look as he began to lose focus, eyes dilating like saucers before snapping into a deep SCOWL .
❝ Stop it.❞
