Dead by Daylight - Walpurgisnacht (David King/Jake Park)

I don't know what I was thinking when I decided to enter Dead by Daylight Y3 Anniversary Artwork Competition. Just looking at the other artworks, I knew the chances of winning is slim to none. Still, I had this idea long before the comp and if it wasn't because of the comp, I may not have finished it off.

The piece was inspired by X/1999 and Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, both of which deals with the theme of friendship and secret attraction to a friend. Well, I always thought Jake is like a doppleganger to many of CLAMP's main hero from Kamui to Lelouch while David fills the bigger 'friend' role like Fuuma in X.

As for Madoka, anyone who's seen the show would have known that Walpurgisnacht refers to an important event in the series. The event was memorable partly thanks to the song, Magia by Kalafina. With the song in mind, I wanted to depict David and Jake in the final battle against the Entity.

The uniform design is based on what WW1 soldiers used to wear but I've added some unmistakably sci-fi/fantasy twist to it, which include the multi-purpose belts and bandages, something that is featured prominently in CLAMP's work and in the character + existing outfit designs for David and Jake.
