(x) Tatler loves One Direction
Scream! Cry! Wave your banner! One Direction have a film out and everyone has gone slightly loopy. Yes, even us. 'But Tatler, you're not teeny boppers,' we hear you cry. Au contraire, darling. Didn't you see our swoonsome shoot with those little guys back in October 2011? Didn't you spot Niall Horan at the Philip Treacy party in Bystander? Or Harry Styles at one of Tom Ford's many parties? Or Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson on the Tatler List? We love One Direction and we're not afraid to show it. So, for fellow Directioners out there, we have those photos in full.
HEAT'S EXCLUSIVE ONE DIRECTION MONTH - WEEK FIVE: HARRY STYLES
"I've got four nipples."
JW: What's your nickname? Curly.
Loves? Sleep and food. I like fine dining, like at The Ivy—the shepherd's pie there is unbelievable.
Hates? Smoking, drugs, and Niall's farting.
Favourite position? Missionary? No, I’m joking.
Describe yourself naked in just three words... A bit disappointing.
If you were invisible for the day, what would you do? I’d like to say something cool, but I’d probably run into a girls’ changing room at least once.
Blonde, brunette, or redhead? I’m really not fussed. Most of my girlfriends have been blonde, but a good brunette is always nice.
Legs, boobs, or bum? All of them. But I’m more into legs and bums.
Skinny or curvy? Curvy—so there’s more to grab onto!
When did you have your first kiss, and who was it with? I can’t actually remember. I think it was with a girl at school when I was 11.
Do you have any distinguishing marks on your body? I’ve got four nipples. I think I must have been a twin, but then the other one went away and left its nipples behind.
When were you last naked? This morning after my shower... and then twice afterward. (Smiles) I like these questions—they’re a lot more daring than we’re used to!
Do you prefer being single or in a relationship? I don’t know. I do quite like having a girlfriend, as it’s nice to have someone to spoil.
Have you ever dumped anyone by text or email? If I said "no," I feel I would be lying. I think I’ve done it on the phone.
What’s your favourite part of a girl’s body? A flat, smooth stomach is always nice.
Where would you take Heat on a date? Wherever Heat would like to go! Maybe we’d go to The Ivy, as the food’s nice there and it’s got a good atmosphere.
And what would we have for pudding? I don’t know—whatever "afters" she’d let me give her!
Rate yourself out of ten for looks, personality, and sense of humour.
For looks: I’ll give myself a generous seven.
Personality-wise: I’ll go for eight because I’m a hoot! I have an extremely morbid tone, which is very good for being sarcastic. (Laughs)
Sense of humour: I’ll give myself a nine.

BAND AID - Groups boosted to help Cheryl
Caption: Hopefuls ... new boy band on X Factor
August 3, 2010 | Sun, The/Sun on Sunday, The (London, England) JEN BLACKBURN page: 2 | Section: Features 367 Words (x)
X FACTOR boss Simon Cowell has formed TWO new groups from star solo acts at this year's boot camp - to boost the category Cheryl Cole is tipped to mentor.
The music mogul, 50, has made four female soloists into a girl band and five single males into a boy band.
He was helped by stand-in judge and Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, 32, and long-time judge Louis Walsh, 57.
Their aim is to give Geordie Cheryl, 27 - recovering from lifethreatening malaria - a pool of talent to work with if she's up to taking on the bands.
Bosses on the ITV1 hit also want to see if Cheryl - who has won with the girls and boys categories - can work her magic on the groups. An insider said: "Nothing's finalised about who gets which category but if Cheryl is up to dealing with the groups they want to give her the best people to choose from.
"It's a difficult category to get right, but not impossible, as JLS showed two years ago."
Cheryl could have her work cut out because the bands, with Louis as mentor, flopped badly last year.
She'll have to mould the brandnew boy band - starring Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, and Harry Styles. And the girls - Rebecca Creighton, Esther Campbell, Geneva Lane and Sophia Wardman - are also certain to need a lot of work.
Cheryl, below, and new mum Dannii Minogue will be back for the judges' houses stage.
Eight acts will make the stage instead of the usual six, but only three in each category will go through to the live finals.
Cheryl's illness has seen her miss boot camp and some auditions, but she is expected to discuss this year's hopefuls with the other judges soon.
Dannii, at home in Oz with baby Ethan, will also be briefed and sent DVDs of all her acts' auditions before she meets them at the judges' houses stage.
The insider said: "The situation hasn't been ideal this year, but both Cheryl and Dannii are dedicated to the show and their acts.
"There's no way they'll let things slide. Both hate the idea of Simon winning." X Factor returns later this month.

FOREVER YOUNG
Harry: I grew up in Cheshire and I've got one older sister called Jemma, who is 20. We get on pretty well. I was quite cheeky at school and got up to a little bit of mischief, but nothing too terrible. I liked to get my work done, but I also liked hanging out with my mates. I was good at English, RE, and Drama, I think because they were the subjects I enjoyed most.
All I ever wanted was to do something that was well-paid. I could never really pinpoint what that would be, though. I really liked the idea of being a singer, but I had no idea how to go about it. I started singing in primary school and was always in plays and shows, so I was performing from a young age.
When I got to secondary school, I kind of stopped singing for a while, but later with some school friends, I formed a band called White Eskimo. We performed locally and also won a "Battle of the Bands" competition. Winning that and playing to a lot of people really showed me that singing was what I wanted to do. I got such a thrill when I was in front of people that it made me want to do it more and more.
When I went along to The X Factor audition, I was a student and I'd just finished my GCSEs at Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School. I had a Saturday job in a bakery and I was planning to go to college to study Law, Sociology, and Business, but I wanted to see if I could make it as a singer first. If it didn't work out, then fair enough, but if I didn't try, I'd never know.
My mum is always telling me I'm a good singer, and it was she who put the X Factor application in for me. Obviously, I was hopeful that the judges would like me as well. It would have been a major setback in my plans for world domination if they hadn't.
Niall: I grew up in Westmeath, in the middle of Ireland, with my parents and my older brother Greg, who is 23. We didn't get on when I was younger—I was probably a bit of an annoying younger brother—but as we've got older, we've grown to like each other, and now we get on really well.
I stayed with my cousin in Dublin the night before the audition, but I didn't sleep—I was that excited. I got to the Dublin Convention Centre at 5 am and I was absolutely bricking it. There were so many people there, I thought there was no way I was ever going to get through. I even thought of changing my song at the last minute to improve my chances.
I felt so excited getting up on stage and singing in front of the judges, but of course, the nerves were still there as well. Katy Perry was the guest judge, and I had a bit of a joke with her about entering the competition so I could become more popular with the girls at school. It was half a joke, but half true, if I'm being honest.
I sang Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours" and Simon said it was a lazy choice, so then I sang my other song, "So Sick" by Ne-Yo. When I'd finished, Katy told me I was adorable, which are always the words you want to hear from a gorgeous, world-famous pop star, aren't they? But she also told me that I had work to do and that, even though she'd started out when she was 15, she hadn't actually made it until she was 23.
Simon told me I'd chosen the wrong song and I wasn't prepared enough, but he still said he liked me, which was a massive bonus. Cheryl said no, but in the end, I got three "yes" votes because Louis more or less forced one out of Katy. That was enough to put me through to Bootcamp. Of course, I would have loved the full four, but as long as I was going on to the next round, I didn't mind too much.
Harry: Standing backstage with Dermot and my family before my audition was so surreal. All my family were giving me good-luck kisses, which was a bit embarrassing. I got some cheers when I walked out on stage, which felt great and made me feel a bit more relaxed. I smiled and tried to look as confident as possible, but inside I was a right mess. This meant everything to me, and I just wanted to do a brilliant job.
There were hundreds of people there, but all I could see was Simon, Louis, and guest judge Nicole Scherzinger looking up at me and I was like, "Please like me, please like me."
Standing in front of all of those people was something totally new for me and I was really nervous. It was a big adrenaline rush and I think that's what gets you through the performance—you’re on a bit of a high, so you don't really have too much of a chance to think about things.
I sang Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely," a song I've always loved. I tried out loads of different songs beforehand and then chose the one I thought I sounded best on—which was that one, obviously! I even gave a little bow at the end, which was a bit cheesy, but I thought it would be funny.
Nicole said I had a beautiful voice, which meant so much to me, but Louis said I didn't have enough experience or confidence and that I was too young. Thankfully, Simon disagreed with him and said, "I think with a bit of vocal coaching you actually could be very good." It was really nice to get the positive feedback. I honestly didn't expect to get through, so I was chuffed with the good comments.
Louis gave me a "no," which was disappointing, but both Nicole and Simon gave me a "yes," so I was through to Bootcamp. I was in a total state of shock! That was one of the best moments of my life. My family went mad when I went back to see them. I was so incredibly happy, I didn't know what to do with myself. I kept expecting someone to come over and say, "Actually, we've changed our mind, you're not through after all." Can you imagine?
FOREVER YOUNG Louis: We also went to see Tinie Tempah at Koko in Camden during Week 4, with Cher and Mary, which was amazing. We got to meet Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts, who were lovely to us. Then Tinie called us all up on stage, but while we were going up, I tripped over something and twisted my ankle. It was really annoying that I hurt myself, but I just had to get over it and keep going. At the end of the day I still had to perform and just hope it was alright on the night. It would have taken a lot more than a twisted ankle to stop me getting up on that stage, though. In the end I strapped it up tightly and took painkillers and it was fine. It just hurt a bit afterwards. Harry: We were so excited about Week 4, especially after getting such amazing comments from the judges in Week 3. For us to keep proceeding in the competition, we had to get better each week. The theme for that week was Halloween, so we were wearing this fake blood and red eye make-up, which should have been a bit ridiculous, but it really worked. Zayn: We sang 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' that week, which some people thought was a weird choice, but we loved it. I think it paid off too, because it was probably one of the best songs we did over the weeks. Liam: It was nice to sing a song that everybody knows. We knew that everyone at home would be singing along and loving it. In previous weeks we'd done songs that weren't all that familiar, but this was brilliant. Harry: We wanted to show that we could make big improvements in a week and keep getting better vocally and performance-wise. Liam: Louis admitted that he had been worried about our song choice, but that actually it really worked. He also said that a lot of people had been asking him about us, which was another massive boost. Then Simon told us what a pleasure it was working with us. It was one amazing thing after another. Zayn: I applied for The X Factor last year but didn't turn up for the audition because I was too nervous. I wasn't actually going to turn up this year either, but my mum basically grabbed me by the ear and told me I was doing it. It was something I'd always liked the idea of, and always thought I would do, but when it came down to it, I panicked. So it took me a while to build up to it.
In the end, I decided to go along to Manchester just for the experience, and if I didn't make it, then I didn't. When I got through the first stage and stood before the judges, I thought I'd been kept so they could take the ...

Would we date a fan?
Totally gossiping about girls, getting their bits out, and being grabbed by fans—it's just another day for One Direction.
You've downloaded their pictures, re-wallpapered your bedrooms with Harry & Co., and even worn pants with their faces on (cheers, Primark!). But hang on, there's one thing missing from this pop puzzle... the 1D album!
Luckily, after months locked in a sweaty studio with nothing but each other and the whiff of Niall's guffs for company (more on that later), they have just about finished what is surely the album of the year—sorry, Adele.
But is the band bromance intact? Or are they at each other's throats and thinking of going solo? We collared Harry, Zayn, Liam, Niall, and Louis to find out exactly what's going on inside Britain's biggest boy band.
You lot seem to be having a serious 1D love-in. In fact, we're feeling a bit awkward... but do you really get on that well? Louis: We really do. It could have gone so wrong as there could have been just one person in the group who didn't gel or wanted to do things differently. Luckily, there isn't. Zayn: When we're not together, we text each other every day saying, "Hey, I miss you." It's a bit girly, but when you've spent that much time together, you're used to it.
Have you always gotten along? Niall: When we first got asked to go to Judges' Houses for The X Factor as a group, we went to Harry's house for a weekend and got straight into making sure we were going to be friends. Then we started working on the music side. His stepdad has a bungalow at the back of the house, so we stayed in that.
What gets on your nerves about each other? Liam: They're all really loud and crazy, whereas me and Zayn like to have our own space. No offense—I love the lads to bits, but it's nice to have your own space too. Harry: I get a bit jealous that Niall gets to play the immature one. He always has fun, and if we were all like that, then we wouldn't get anything done. I'm the youngest, but I have to act more grown-up. Zayn: Yeah, Niall is farting pretty much all the time! They're pretty offensive, and he doesn't care where he is. I'm quite organized, so I like to know where my stuff is, but Louis and Harry just dump their stuff wherever. Even when we're staying in hotels, it'll look like we've been living there for a week when we've only just arrived.
We know Harry loves getting naked. Have you all seen each other's bits now? Liam: I think me and Zayn will be the last to break. I was thinking about running naked down a hotel corridor and just telling them I did it. But they'd just go, "No, you didn't, Liam. Shut up."
Do you reckon you would have been mates at school? Louis: We often say that would have been the case, actually. Harry: But who knows? It doesn't really matter, does it? Because we are now, and I can't imagine not being with them every day. We're very lucky.
We already have JLS and The Wanted; what will you give us that they can't? Louis: It's not like we'll be doing dance routines like JLS. We wouldn't be as cool as them—we'd trip over our shoelaces. But I don't want us to be choreographed and matchy-matchy anyway. We're not trying to be something we're not. We're like the guys who you go to school with. And I don't think other boy bands are like that.

Inside the World of One Direction
Do you have to follow a load of rules set out by Simon Cowell? Harry: On the show, we weren't supposed to have girlfriends, but we were so focused on what we were doing that it didn't really matter. Louis: Despite what people think, we dressed ourselves throughout The X Factor, and we still do. I think we know what we want. We just have to try a bit harder to be taken seriously.
How do you divide up the responsibilities in the band? Is one of you the Gary Barlow who does all the songwriting? Liam: We've all taken an approach to writing. It's tough, but we all try to contribute. We were pushed into a corner every week on The X Factor, so it's nice that we've finally found our own sound.
Does being famous ever get slightly boring? Harry: No, because I know I miss it the second I get to go home for a day. There's a lot of pressure to be a good role model, and people are keen to pigeonhole you as soon as you give them something to work with. Louis: I'm 19, and I used to go out as much as every other guy my age, but I'd much rather be doing this. But you can see how this can be lonely. I can't imagine doing it on my own.
Who will be the first to bail on 1D? silence Louis: Oh my god. I don't know. We all need this as much as each other. I don't think any of us would be anywhere near as successful solo as we are together.
Here’s the updated formatting with the same words:
Louis: Oh my god. I don’t know. We all need this as much as each other. I don’t think any of us would be anywhere near as successful if we were solo as if we stayed together.
Harry, erm, didn’t you ditch a band to join 1D? Harry: Yes, White Eskimo, but they were all like my best mates, and they’re still going. I hope they don’t feel like I’ve just gone off and abandoned them. They can replace me.
Your fans are very... obsessive? Do you get scared? Liam: Some fans will do anything. Like, you’re not allowed in some buildings because of security, but one time this girl just ran in and grabbed me. That shook me up a bit.

LARRY STYLINSON’S battle of the best biceps begins.
Liam: But our fans are really friendly. Zayn: Obviously, it’s flattering, and they say you get used to the attention, but I haven’t yet. I try to go out with a hat on or my glasses on, but I still get recognised. Louis: There are so many committed fans who have queued up for hours to see us, and you start to recognise them all. Harry: Yeah, it’s nice to have that, as you know that they really care about us.
Would you date a fan? Louis: Totally! I don’t see why not.
We bet all the girls you went to school with have been in touch… Harry: There are always going to be people who are acting like they’re better friends with you than they actually are. Liam: Yeah, this girl who was the hottest one in our year added me on BBM the other day, and I was like, “Get in!” It’s funny how you automatically become more attractive when you’re on TV.
Harry: I’m a seventeen-year-old boy, so I like girls. But I prefer having a girlfriend. I like having someone I can spoil. Somebody to call up in the middle of the night and just talk to. I like getting close to someone like that.
So what moves have you pulled in an attempt to win a girl’s heart? Zayn: I don’t know... Took her out for dinner. Bought her flowers. Liam: One Valentine’s Day, my girlfriend at the time insisted all she wanted was one of my hoodies. I thought, “That’s a bit rubbish,” so I bought a box, put the hoodie inside with a teddy bear, 12 red roses, and a Justin Bieber CD. When it comes to birthdays, I don’t care how much it costs if it makes you happy.
Zayn, you’re dating Rebecca Ferguson at the moment. Is it important for the other lads to get on with your girlfriend? Zayn: At the point we’re at now, definitely. I would get a lot of stick if they didn’t. They’re pretty open about what they think about girls. Harry: Yeah, we totally gossip about girls. Niall’s the worst.
One Direction’s debut album will be out later this year. Buy it!
For their first-ever cover, there was only one magazine One Direction wanted to talk to: Sugar. Here's what happened when we spent the day with five of the cutest boys in the country... just for you!
If school changing rooms are anything to go by, groups of teenage boys—even boy band ones—should smell. Bad. They should also communicate in grunts and bounce footballs off each other’s noses. They're not meant to wander around with their hair wrapped up spa-style in a towel for two hours (cough Harry cough) or ask to borrow a protractor to help measure the angle of their fringe (ahem Zayn).
But ever since Simon Cowell waved his magic wand and made One Direction appear, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Niall Horan have spent more time doodling in the corners of The Pop Star Rule Book than, er, reading it.
Now that they've (almost) stopped jumping up and down with excitement and started recording their first album, they're more than happy to tell us (and only us) why.

"One Direction’s Name Was His Idea"
“When Simon told us that we were going to be part of a group, I whooped. And then I panicked. What if there was one person we didn’t get along with? We’re all so different—Zayn’s way vain, and Niall’s got immature down to an art form—so it’s kind of surprising that we do all get on. Even if we wouldn’t have been friends at school, we’re like brothers now.
We’ve all wanted the same thing from the start, so I came up with the name, One Direction. There are so many of us, we do separate off a bit, though. Louis and I always share a room, while the others like to mix it around a bit.”
Harry’s Always Getting Naked
“We’re mostly just playing pranks on each other whenever we’re meant to be working. Niall and Louis locked me in a wardrobe the other day, then they disappeared for ages. I sat there for a bit, then took all my clothes off. When they opened the door, I was like, ‘Ta-dah!’
Niall’s the perfect prank target, actually. Yesterday, Louis and I went swimming in our boxers first thing in the morning, then woke Niall up by flinging our dripping wet pants into his face.”
Simon Cowell Thought ‘Pussygate’ Was Hilarious
“I got a massive bollocking for Pussygate. Simon thought it was hilarious, but my mum was like, ‘Harrrrryyy.’ I’m trying to be a bit more careful about what I do and say now, but it’s really hard. We get in trouble about five times a day. We are not polished and well-behaved. We’re just like the cheeky guys you know at school—nothing’s really changed!”
He Misses Having a Girlfriend. "Any Volunteers?"
“I really miss having a girlfriend, but I’m not great at making the first move. I like it when girls do that glance-then-glance-away thing. It’s cute, but it doesn’t happen to me that often. Until I find the perfect girl, I have Louis.”
But Girls Really Confuse Him
“I’ve been out with girls before who play so many mind games, it hurts my head. If I don’t text you back within 30 seconds, it’s because I’m busy. It’s not because I secretly fancy your best friend.
It’s great being associated with all these hot 27-year-old models, but it’s never true. I’ll have literally met them once at an event, taken my photo with them, and gone back to the hotel for a nice cup of cocoa and to play board games with the boys. Then the next morning, the picture is on the front cover of a newspaper. I mean, I wish I was dating them. They’re really hot!”
He’d Like to Be Romantic, But He’s a Bit Rubbish at It
“Last year, I was going out with a girl who lived next to a park with a little stream running through it. So I bought loads of candles and laid them out along the bridge, and when I’d finally lit them, I called her and asked her to meet me.
I’d been planning it all day, but she said she didn’t want to come out. So I was just stood there, kicking candles into the stream and getting kind of upset. It was probably one of the most embarrassing moments of my life.”

'Can't wait to get on tour'
One Direction live. Excited? You betcha!
As they’re about to start their first tour, we caught up with the boys to find out more about life on the road.
How excited are you all about your tour?
Niall: It’s gonna be s-i-i-i-i-i-i-ck! It’s gonna be amazing! We sat down with the producer and went through the theme for it, what happens between each song, and it was just amazing, incredible—can’t wait! I was literally sitting there with goosebumps and I kept going, "Oh my God, oh my God."
Everyone was looking at me saying, "What is wrong with you?" I was like, "I’m so excited!"
Harry: Very excited, yeah! We’ve been working really hard towards it, and now we just can’t wait to get on tour! We said we wanted to do this and that, and it’s great watching it all come together. It’s going to be a great show. We’re going to do absolutely everything we can to make sure everyone enjoys it.
Liam: I think we’re all really happy with what’s going to happen. You do worry, like whether they’re going to make it cheesy or anything, but they got what we wanted to do.

Harry: "I’ll put pants on my rider so I don’t have to buy more!"
Harry:
We get knickers and all that kind of stuff, which is funny. Louis: I absolutely love those fizzy strawberry laces from Tesco. It would be nice to have some of them thrown on stage!
Now, riders... What are you going to be asking for in your dressing rooms?
Niall: We were actually talking about this in the car on the way here. On The X Factor tour, all the dressing rooms were kitted out with sweets and drinks, so for ours I was thinking: cans of Red Bull, sweets obviously, loads of water, honey—all the stuff for your voice.
Once there’s catering on the tour, I’ll be happy ’cos I love eating! If the catering’s anything like The X Factor tour, I’ll be happy. We’re gonna bring the Wii with us—it’s good for getting riled up before we go on stage and good to keep you occupied as well. ’Cos we’ll spend a lot of time on the bus, we’ll each take our DS and that to keep us busy! Harry: This is our first proper tour, so I guess I can put pants on there. Interviewer: You’re going to put pants on your rider? Harry: Maybe. Because then, wherever you go, you won’t have to buy more pants—you’ll just get given them. I’m gonna ask for boxers.
So, what are the rules on the tour bus?
Niall: My tour bus rules are that I get to sleep in a top bunk, and that I can go to sleep whenever I want to. And I get to eat a lot. Oh, and definitely no women on the bus! Harry: I don’t think there are going to be many rules on the tour bus. Clean up after yourself! Naked at all times. Get up at 9:30 every day, maybe 10. And only one glass of milk before bed. Zayn: What happens on the tour bus stays on the tour bus...
What are you going to be up to on there?
Liam: We need some decent board games on the tour bus! Monopoly is always a safe shout. Connect 4 is just the best shout ever. Plus classics like Snakes and Ladders, Twister... Oh, and Buckaroo too. Louis: As long as I’ve got a comfy bed, I’m not really bothered. And loads of good music and films, good classics, and lots of comedy like Anchorman. Zayn: Chillin’, playing Nintendo... General relaxing really. Whack that tracksuit on, catch up on a bit of sleep. It’s my chill-out time, so I will chill out and have a laugh with the guys too. It’s gonna be cool.
What’s your ritual before you go on stage?
Liam: We have a little hug before we go on stage actually. Niall: I usually change my socks and brush my teeth. And do a poo! Zayn: I brush my teeth. I don’t know if it’s a nervous thing or if I just want to brush my teeth. Oh, and I always wear two pairs of socks. Interviewer: Two? Why two? Zayn: Always, all my life. Interviewer: Don’t your feet sweat and smell? Zayn: They don’t. I’ve been quite lucky—I don’t have smelly feet. I change my socks every day. So they should smell reasonably well.
We’ve had loads of tweets from all over the world about you boys... Are you ready to go global now and take over the pop world?
Harry: For now, we’re just focusing on what’s in the pipeline. We have plenty of stuff to work on. It’s nice to know that people want to see us in other places though. We love travelling, so it would be great! Niall: I can’t wait! We’ve just come back from Europe, and it was just absolutely mental out there. It was amazing. I can’t wait to discover more and hopefully we’ll get to go to places like America, Australia, and Asia and stuff. Louis: I think it’s scary, but it’s more exciting. Actually, not everyone’s dream is to travel the world and see everywhere, so it’s something we can’t wait to do and to meet our fans around the world.
Are you having to get a bit more exercise in now you’re going on tour?
Liam: Not really, because our band is not one of those tops-off sorts of bands who go, "Look how muscly I am." We’re a bit more like—not muscly, not very ripped, skinny little boys.
Me and Harry are a little more body-conscious, so we like to keep trim. This tour is going to be hard work, but there won’t be any tops off, I don’t think. But it’s good to go to the gym to keep us trim.
Can you ever imagine life without the boys?
Harry: At the moment, no, definitely not. We spend every day together, so when you go home for two days, it’s really weird. It’s weird to go back home—I miss the boys a lot when I’m there, but I miss my family and friends a lot too when I’m away! Zayn: One of the great things about being in a band is that we’ve got each other’s backs, and we can keep each other grounded—it becomes unattractive if you stop being grounded. That’s just me; that’s just the way I am. But life without the boys... I just can’t imagine it.

Teen Now Exclusive: On Tour with One Direction
Louis:
Very excited. Hopefully, it’s going to be a good watch for everyone. It is different to what I actually expected, but in a good way.
Zayn: I can’t wait. Honestly, can’t wait. It’s gonna be good.
Who’s the best act you’ve seen live?
Zayn: I haven’t been to many gigs, y’know. I went to Take That at Wembley. I’ve gotta say, hats off to the lads—it was amazing!
Louis: Chase & Status were amazing. More mainstream would probably be Take That—they were incredible. And James Morrison’s great as well.
Liam: I went to a Rihanna concert recently, actually. She was just amazing, really good. But the best one for me, I think, was Take That at Wembley. That was absolutely phenomenal! We have a long way to go before we get there. There’s a lot to live up to!
Harry: I saw Nickelback live when I was younger—they were great. But the Take That concert—those guys are in another class! They know how to put on a show. To see Wembley Stadium filled with people singing your songs with their hands in the air must have been incredible.
Niall: I went to watch Michael Bublé last week! Oh my God! I did everything but wee myself! I was the most excited person in that room! It was unbelievable. It was a TV special, but he had a full band and he sang live... He’s so good! Ah, he’s a legend!
What song are you looking forward to singing on tour?
Niall: We’ve got a few on the album that I’m really excited about. We were looking through the set list yesterday, and we have a great sing-along set and the fans can all get involved. I can’t wait to sing Na Na Na and What Makes You Beautiful, to be honest. We’ve got a few hidden songs that you don’t know about. When you hear them, you’re going to be like, "Wow!"
Harry: I’m really looking forward to singing a couple of the new ones, actually.
Liam: This is a tough question. But there’s a track from the album called One Thing that I think will be amazing live.
Louis: Yeah, I really can’t wait to perform One Thing either. I really, really like that song.
Zayn: There are a few songs that I’m looking forward to singing, actually. There’s a song called I Want that we wrote with Tom from McFly, and we’re doing an Ed Sheeran song as well.
Your tour sold out very quickly. Do you feel proud?
Zayn: Yeah. I’m massively proud. It’s just crazy to think, "Why would all these people come to see me?" It’s really cool. Really cool.
Harry: Definitely. You don’t really know how people are going to react, and then it turns out amazing. It’s a very nice feeling that people want to come and see you.
Which member of the group do you rely on most on stage?
Niall: Liam always knows what he’s doing!
Harry: I don’t know. I rely on everyone. You kind of look around and check what others are doing to get in there straight away. Then it’s great.
Liam: I would say whoever I end up next to. Like with Harry, we always have a good laugh together. I’d say Harry.
Louis: Probably Harry. He always looks like he’s having a good time, and he gets right into it.
Zayn: Louis, because he seems to always have a lot of fun. I get caught up in the performance kind of things, so I never really get to show that I’m having fun. I look serious because I’m concentrating, so it’s nice to bounce off Louis a bit and have fun.
Who makes you laugh on stage?
Niall: Louis! Oh my God! When we were on The X Factor tour, me and him did some ridiculous stuff on stage. People didn’t even have a clue. Like Liam was singing Only Girl (In The World) and he got past the first line, and me and Louis met in the middle behind him, high-fived, and then I got on Louis’ back and we ran around in a circle. Then we went back to our spots before we walked forward for the chorus. He didn’t have a clue what was going on!
Harry: Louis makes me laugh. He randomly grabs my bum, stuff like that...
Liam: Yeah, Louis, without fail. He does some funny moves on stage, just whenever he feels like it.
Louis: Everyone really. I think we all have the same banter as each other. We don’t take it too seriously and try to have fun on stage.
Zayn: Again, it’s got to be Louis. Niall makes me laugh on stage as well, actually.
What about banners? Do you love a banner?
Zayn: It’s nice to see people’s thoughts on paper. It’s nice to see support, and the funnier, the better. I find myself giggling on stage. If you’re a Teen Now reader coming to the concerts, put Vas Happenin? at the start of your banner and add the rest of your message so I can see who reads Teen Now.
Louis: Yeah, it’s amazing to see people in the crowd with a banner! The rude stuff is funny, but I always look for really random ones.
Liam: The innuendos are always funny. Hilarious.
Harry: I love a banner! There’s been a few random ones, but there’s been a lot of dirty ones, especially from the younger fans, which is quite worrying.
Niall: Love them! They’re brilliant! They’re a good way of getting our attention because we like to be able to see what the fans are doing during the concert. It’s always good to read them because people put a lot of time into them!
Do you get a lot of stuff thrown on stage when you’re performing?
Niall: Yeah, like a lot of T-shirts. One girl actually threw her mobile phone at us one time!
