Gabriel groaned loudly as the first rays of sunshine drifted across his face from beneath the blind. Another night spent sleeping at his desk and he could smell the acrid scent of rum all over him. It definitely wasn’t the first time and he knew it wouldn’t be the last. As he rose to his feet, he felt his stomach flip. Too many drinks these days made for nothing but a bad stomach and a foggy head. But the booze helped with everything else. Checking the clock on his desk, he groaned loudly and stood up. For a second the room swayed. He grabbed the edge of the table and felt alcohol sodden worksheets. “Fuck.” Eventually, the haze disappeared and he grabbed his bag from the sofa and headed for the door.
The air was cool as he stepped out onto the forecourt and headed toward the main bathroom block. His hygiene home away from home. And the only way he could pull himself together before the employees arrived. With damp hair and newly thrown on clothes (fortunately ones not stained with rum down the front like a messy toddler), he chucked the bag into a locker and headed outside again. With his hands still sliding his pushing his shirt messily into his dark trousers, he came to a halt at the sight of the young woman heading toward the office.
How many years had she been floating in and out of the place now? Soft blonde hair falling over her shoulders. Tight little ass in her pretty skirts. And the way she looked at him sometimes or went out of her way to speak to him. To ask questions. To bend over just when he was looking at her and how he’d fawned over those legs. Sniffing and pushing his hand back across his damp hair, he walked toward the office and stuffed his hands into his pocket, pulling out the ring of keys. “Woke up late this morning. Hadn’t got round to opening everything up.” He grunted as he stabbed the key into the door and twisted it. Stepping back, he gestured for her to go first. “Didn’t expect you so early either. No one should be this eager for this piece of shit company. Admire it though.” @absoluteresistance
