Ruby couldn’t help but smile tenderly as she watched the party goers flood the dance floor. The day had been beautiful and the woman finally felt like she could relax with a glass of wine. Of course, it wasn’t traditional for the party planner to actually attend the wedding of her clients but she’d grown rather attached to Paxton and Andie—seemingly they’d liked her too. Seeing their beaming faces had meant the world to her. But now she almost felt like her welcome had entered. The happy brides were floating between guests but always returning to one another. Completely smitten and in love. How beautiful. The ambition of every job she ever completed properly. Another one to check off the list.
Draining her glass, she flattened down her dress and headed toward the bar. Laughter and music filled her ears. A cheer of elation. She did love weddings. It was why she’d got into the business. But being the planner....could be lonely. Distracted by her own thoughts, Ruby was looking away when she felt her body bump into a taller figure. Stepping back briskly, her smile grew sheepish. And then her expression changed from apology to a big smile. “You’re Oliver!”
She blinked, realising it was odd to know someone out of the blue. “You’re Andie’s brother. I’m Ruby. Not that my name means much to you...” She looked up at him. Strikingly handsome. She’d seen the photos Andie had shown her. Where was his wife? His girlfriend? His date? “Are you enjoying yourself, Oliver?” @greasemonkeywrites
