Aeon - Initial Concept Sketch (Journey From Ashes)

It’s been a WHILE since I’ve made anything related to Journey From Ashes- like.. god damn. (JFA is my original comic. Totally unrelated to any fandom! It’s all my own stuff.)

Anyway, here’s a new Xarix elf for you! I made him as a bit of a self indulgent meme because I was like:

“None of my alien elves would ever love me because one is a lesbian and the others are A Mess.”

So I wanted to just. Make one for the sake of making one. It’s very much an “oh no he’s hot!” situation and now he’s official because I’m not going to pass up on a design that fucks this hard.

It took a minute to balance the design but I think it’s the perfect amount of “busy” now. When you design characters with complex designs you really have to toe the line of “what makes this TOO much”. Push it- but not too far.

Here’s a guide for his markings:

His markings are swirly instead of straight or diagonal because he has a mutation. Usually Xarix markings are darker than the rest of their body but in this case the mutation affects the shape *and* pigment.

And here’s his upper body without the glow from the spirit butterfly. He’s got silver eyessss. Five of them! 🫶 :3

(And yes he does have gold dermal implants in his face to mimic facial hair. Wouldn’t YOU do that if you were incapable of growing a beard? /j)
