Xbox One Wireless Controller - Expensive Or Just BETTER?
Killer Instinct for Xbox One, is it a killer app?
It's been nearly twenty years since the Killer Instinct series made its debut in arcades, all the way back in 1994. The innovative title introduced many popular aspects of the modern fighting game still seen today, including features like multiple life bars, as well as automatic combos and combo breakers, meant to interrupt enemy attacks long enough to get a word in edgewise.
However, since 1996, the series has been dormant, mainly because of Microsoft's 2002 purchase of the game's original developer Rare. Eleven years later, things are about to change: meant to be a killer app for the new Xbox One, Microsoft has handed the reins to developer Double Helix for a revival of the series, Killer Instinct 2013.
Gamers are already chomping at the bit to get their hands on the newest Killer Instinct title, as fans' rumors have surrounded a new version of the series ever since its hiatus began. But after fourteen years of advance and innovation in the fighting game world, with new games rising to add weapons, state-of-the-art graphics, tag team play and online play, will the new game manage to compete?
Early footage of the game looked promising when it was debuted at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, with lush graphics and incredibly detailed model updates of classic series characters such as werewolf Sabrewulf, man on fire Cinder and icy alien Glacius. The gameplay appeared incredibly fast, to the point where the idea of using an Xbox One controller seemed like a guarantee for failure; between Ultra Combos and new special attacks, more hardcore fighting fans may want to get their hands on a fighting stick or even a custom Xbox One controller.
What really looks enticing about this new game is its online capabilities. In the previous generation of games, watching other matches happen while you wait for a matchup was common. On the Xbox One, gamers can instantly drop in and out of matches without having to wait a second, which will bode well with the game's high-octane action. To be fair, though, the fighting game has evolved by leaps and bounds since Killer Instinct went away in the mid-90s, and it's not completely known just how well the game will stack up to its competition. It looks like we'll just have to buy it when it comes out!
About Killer Instinct, an Exclusive to the Xbox One
With the recent reveal of the Xbox One, gamers are on the lookout for next generation games. One that has caught the eye of many is Killer Instinct. Fans have waited a decade for a revamped version of the classic fighting game, and the Xbox One delivers. Players will be treated to many familiar faces, but the game itself has undergone an intriguing change. Jago, the famous Tibetan monk, will be the only playable character at first. If you want to take control of the other fighters, you’ll have to reach into your wallet. The trade-off for the pay-by-character play is a free initial download. There is another option for those who want all of the characters from the start. You can buy a retail version of the game that includes the whole cast. However, the gameplay and mechanics look promising enough to please players who don’t buy extra characters.
The Xbox One Controller is very similar to the Xbox 360’s. A myriad of fighting games were released for the 360, and the controls worked out well. If the past is a good indicator, then you can expect the Xbox 1 Controller to live up to its predecessor. Killer Instinct will make good use of the Xbox One Controller, but in a way that maintains its unique fighting system.
Ultra Combos carry on to the next-gen game. You can string moves together in an unforgiving combo, just like in the original Killer Instinct. The Xbox 1 Controller may not have a share button, but you can still advertise your skills with the Kinect. Players can record their combos and show off their ruthless gameplay.
Killer Instinct combines the old and new aspects of gaming. It keeps its classic fighter layout, and uses updated technology to keep it relevant. Its free download makes it a no-risk investment, so uncertain buyers can rest easy. Overall, Killer Instinct is a game to watch out for.
Xbox One Games!
The new Xbox is generating a lot of buzz on the web since Microsoft officially announced its next-gen entertainment system, the Xbox One. Microsoft has promised several exclusive titles including old favorites such as Halo. Among these exclusive titles Microsoft is pumping, Ryse: Sons of Rome, takes full advantage of the Xbox One's capabilities, including voice command and mobile management of your character (with a compatible mobile device). Ryse features a soldier who joins the army and eventually saves the Roman Empire.
If a more modern soldier is what you're looking for, Titanfall, Call of Duty: Ghost, and Wolfenstien (set in the 1960's) will all be available on the Xbox One. The Xbox One has a lighter side for those who may need a break from endless, gruesome killing available gamers will be able to build and destroy with Minecraft, fight the heartless in Kingdom Hearts 3, and create their own game with Project Spark. Project Spark is a sandbox-type game which blends a fantastical, storybook environment with classic scifi elements, such as mechs. In Project Spark the player can build their world and, when the goblins start attacking, change the environment or characters in real-time. Some other popular titles coming out on the One will include Dead Rising 3, Final Fantasy XV, Forza Motorsport, Need for Speed, FIFA, and Madden. The One will also have blue-ray capabilities and family friendly titles, such as Plants vs. Zombies and Zoo tycoon for those who have children to consider or want a complete entertainment system. While there are a great number of titles to be released on the Xbox One something to keep in mind before locking in your Pre-order is that this console will be open to DRM restrictions, which could make reselling or trading in games difficult. Also, rumor is the One will must be connected to the Internet at least once every twenty-four hours for you to play it, making an Internet connection required. Lastly, the new Xbox controller is much like the 360 with the only major differences being a trigger rumble feature and a slimmer battery. The new Xbox will hit stores in November and is available for Pre-order now.
